PulpMind 08-28-2003 11:40 AM

my name is Jesiah
a fairly rare name, seeing as my mom made it up, and anyone else who has it has either also had it made up, or is of some ethnicity...
interestingly, www.jesiah.com used to be a Christian rock group. luckily, they went bunk, so now I can get my domain back ;)
I just googled my name again, and found an interesting bible site that states that Jesiah is another translation of Issaiha..
and also found a RPG site of someone who used the shortening of my name along with my name - Jesiah & Jesi
and now that I've posted this, the TFP will probably come up too ;)

Derwood 08-28-2003 11:54 AM

I must be pretty important, as there were 45 hits from my name. And my name is not one that is repeated often. Many of them were from guitar tabs that I had posted, of course, but the other 1/2 were from newspaper articles

hobo 08-28-2003 02:43 PM

We did this in school a couple years ago. It basically shows you anything with the name in it. Usually it is someone else with that name that shows up. Especially with people who have very common names.

seizei 08-28-2003 04:59 PM

I've done a search for my own name, and I get tons of links for this goofy looking ba'hai/christian? musician guy, plus a couple for myself for japanese language stuff and martial arts sites.

Have been checking for a girl I almost dated when I was 12 years old (in 1992) for a long time now.... I really liked her, but my friend thought she wasn't cool.. and he called her and said I thought she was a 'stupid bitch'. I didn't have the strength of character to stand up to my 'friend' and I moved on. I've been trying to find her to apologize for about 6 years now (just for that, I'm engaged anyway - just want to let this girl know that I was sorry). If anyone knows a Nicole Beattie that used to live in Northern Ontario, Canada, send her here ;)

Thraeryn 08-29-2003 05:53 AM

One of the first links that came up when I Googled my first & last names was this site: Tim Smith dot Com about how I'm apparently running for Mayor of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I'm just so glad I don't look like that asshole.

Disclaimer: The comments made about Tim Smith above reflect no personal insult, as I neither have read nor care to read his site and determine whether he is or is not an asshole.

IckUber 08-29-2003 09:00 AM

Averett 08-29-2003 09:08 AM

1337haxor 09-01-2003 03:16 PM

I googled my name and got some photographer's site. I also found the site i made for my astronomy club back in high school, its still up on my server too.
I tried to google a friend because I knew her birthday was sometime in august but didnt know the day. Didn't find it :(
I guess its harder to find info on a minor since they don't have that many records yet. I ended up just asking her.

edit: I was also shot in the head when I was 17 in high school

Esoteric 09-01-2003 05:47 PM

I've done the same thing... sometimes it works and other times it doesn't

fuzzix 09-02-2003 03:18 AM

hehe, I like to do this, it's fun and sometimes you really can find some interesting things. Like people's full body rubber suit fetishes, LOL.

oberon 09-02-2003 03:40 AM

I've occasionally looked up some people I used to know, but lost track of. I don't consider it at all a bad thing.

rev_skarekroe 09-02-2003 11:14 AM

I like googling the names of my ancestors.

Hard8s 09-02-2003 09:15 PM

Yeah, just Googled my Ex-Girlfriends name and found out her Uncle just died. Guess I should send my condolences.

mrcraptastic 09-02-2003 09:21 PM

i did it once for some guy that was really pissing me off online, lucky for me he was the only one with his last name in new zealand.. found out where his parents worked, his ISP, his address, and scared him well enough that he quit trying to annoy me further :)

Battlefield 09-02-2003 10:07 PM

I've googled people before, and found their personal webpages etc. Truth is I felt like a total stalker doing it

insect2003 09-02-2003 11:01 PM

yeah it's pretty interesting

Dano069 09-03-2003 04:50 AM

I've Googled my name and found out I'm a police chief in Canada somewhere. Of course, that's my adopted name I'm using. Don't know my birth name.

"Are you my mother?"

raeanna74 09-03-2003 05:35 AM

I've done it often with new people I meet and with all my old friends and family. Actually was helpful. Unemployment Services seemed to have hubby's information all wrong. Come to find out there is someone out in California with his same first, middle and last names. We let Unemployment know and hopefully things are straightened out now.

JStrider 09-03-2003 06:32 AM

for my name you can find a couple old track times... and some stuff about graduating highschool... and some pictures of me from my highschools webpage...

ObieX 09-03-2003 06:40 AM

I've done it a few time for the hell of it, just to see if anything would turn up.

CapnWaffle 09-06-2003 11:03 PM

Googling for some of my old aliases and e-mails can lead to some fairly embarassing stuff. I mean, I was a young, geeky, AOLer, so I practically had no shame back then.

That's not to say it's not good for some laughs, tho. Especially the ones that aren't me. For example, I'm a woodcarving expert, apparently. ;)

lady 09-07-2003 02:36 AM

Apparently there were a lot of women with my name in the 1700s and 1800s. Didn't find anything about me. :D

I've googled a couple of guys I've met online. Saw some embarassing freshman pics. heh

SiN 09-07-2003 05:28 AM

hm, i've done it before and doing it now.

just trying to find old friends and such, may be having a bit of luck.

oh, and because of my uncommon last name, a search for me in quotes has no results. heh.

Sensei 09-07-2003 09:14 PM

Yeah I Google people I meet and my professors as well. Some go as far as the search newspaper archives with Lexis-Nexis but I'm not that extreme.

oushi 09-09-2003 10:47 AM

I'm the head artist over at LucasArts and I'm in the national wrestling hall of fame. :D

BuddyHawks 09-09-2003 12:26 PM

The West of Scotland Amateur Radio Society has a competition named after me.

eschmidt 09-10-2003 02:52 AM

I do this regulary..... always when I meet a new person, next day I search on google for this person. But mostly there are no results for this person.

Destrox 09-10-2003 03:42 AM

Yeah, found out the one girl i work with was in the miss america pagent in 2001 for the state finals. Didnt win, but thats damn cool.

Capt.JamesHook 09-10-2003 10:40 AM

I have looked up screen names before, but never a real name.

copenhagen 09-14-2003 10:43 PM

I just found out that i star in hardcore gay videos. I'm going to go drink myself into a coma now.

iamjero 09-15-2003 08:57 AM

I do it all the time. Nothing wrong with it unless you accidentally get into there medical records or credit card numbers or something.
