Whats your favorite Cigar?

So far out of all the Cigars I've tried i think the best i had was a Griffin. It has a smooth taste and almost a clean taste to it, i've also tried some horrible ones primarily Garcia y Vegas. What are some other good ones?

Mael 08-23-2003 10:36 AM

for the cost, i like arturo fuente's and el dulce something or other (i haven't had it in years.) . as it is, stuff from JR's discount cigar store, they have their own brand, is really good for the price as well.

zfleebin 08-23-2003 12:11 PM

I have tried a lot of cigars including the one Arnold Schwarzenegger smokes exclusively. Still, I prefer Backwoods black and milds.

Psivage 08-23-2003 12:26 PM

Swisher Sweets cheap but good.

Mad_Gecko 08-23-2003 12:59 PM

Monte Cristo Especials - Long but thin enough for a good smoke. Wish Fidel hadn't given up smokin' :|

Fuckin' expensive, bought 'em duty free and when I converted the Euro's I nearly cried...

PS: Shat myself going thru customs in Miami with a box, I didn't care about the hash I had 'cause that was hidden. It was the cigars that I'd foolishly left in my carry-on WITH THE BAND ON!

TaLoN 08-23-2003 01:02 PM

these are the shit http://www.acidcigars.com/acid/acid_1400_page.html
none are as smooth and none taste as good

YourNeverThere 08-23-2003 01:02 PM

I personally like the genaric Colts. First cigar I ever had and I still like them the best.

battlemouth 08-23-2003 05:25 PM

i also tried these ones called "players clubs" and they werent bad at all. they're a nice long relatively inexspensive cigar.

i think you're right mike, that griffin was definitely the best one so far. I think i would have pefered the robusto to the corona as well.

but for cheap cigars those punch knockoffs (P1's) were pretty damn good and like half the price of a griffin.

bundy 08-24-2003 06:52 AM

cohiba.

we´re lucky down under in that there are no cuban trade embargos preventing us buying quality cigars.

mind you, i don´t indulge regularly, so the odd cohiba is a treat.

Macheath 08-24-2003 09:31 AM

I find myself going back to Romeo y Julietas fairly often. But bundy is right; Cohibas are awesome.

If I'm not mistaken, those are part of a series of "impersonator" cigars by Cusano. If you want some other reasonably priced good cigars, try the Killer Cameroon, Cusano Hermanos Vintage, or Cusano Corojo. Also, in their high-profile impersonations, they have the CC, a supposed recreation of the taste/power of an older Cuban (good, but not that good).

My personal favorite is either a Padron 1964 Anniversary, Montecristo #2, or maybe the newer Cohiba Siglo VI. Mmmmm...

battlemouth 08-24-2003 08:06 PM

i tried a Romeo y Julieta once and i didnt like it much, maybe it just wasnt a good one. I tend to prefer darker richer cigars

Lestat 08-24-2003 08:42 PM

I got a box of Dominican Cohibas from my parents vacation. I can't complain.

johnnymysto 08-25-2003 06:55 AM

So far, Don Diego has been the best I've had.

And honestly, I just don't get the allure of Cubans. I tried a Cohiba once, and it was just like any other cigar. Oh well.

I think whole cuban allure is the fact that if you got one you're haveing something you're not supposed to have so its scandalous.

I had a Dunhill corona one night that a friend bought me. Best. Smoke. Ever.

Found out it cost him $18 bucks a pop though. That is out of my frequent smoking range. For a relatively inexpensive one try Licenciados or Royal Jamaican.

MacGnG 08-25-2003 02:23 PM

But the Australians in this thread are allowed to have them and we've spoken favourably of them anyway.

Either we're being truly objective or we like the idea of having something YOUR not supposed to have.

Oh god, that is a truly, truly pathetic thought.:D

Opus Opus X by Arturo Fuente are great (Non-cuban)

Monticristo #2 Cubans are delightful

Quietus 08-27-2003 02:28 PM

I typically go with Curly Head Deluxes from Arturo Fuente. Pretty cheap--about $3 each--and an excellent smoke, as good as many $10-15 cigars.

Amanita 08-27-2003 06:57 PM

My favourite cigars (currently in my stand-up humidor):

Cohiba - Siglo I
Romeo Y Julietta - Churchill (50 ring)
Romeo Y Jultetta - Belvederes (39 ring)
Montecristo - #4 (42 ring)
Montecristo - Juylitas (26 ring)

All cuban baby :D

Romeo y Julieta ROBUSTOs

Ho-train 09-11-2003 12:12 PM

Zino Platinum series, ooohh yea.

bigjule 09-11-2003 12:41 PM

Any of the ONYX Reserve stogies are great and for the money they are even better.

Sapper 09-12-2003 03:20 PM

Hehe ..

I enjoy a good Montecristo once in a moon ..

hunnychile 09-12-2003 06:43 PM

The one I've personally flavored for my man. And only my man. Always tastes best and yummy to prepare for my one and only. Whatever he wishes..................I'll do even if it involves grabbing my ankles and smiling sweetly. Can you say Dominate!

meff 09-12-2003 06:47 PM

So while this thread has caught alot of cigar smokers, I ask, why do people smoke cigars? I mean, you don't even inhale, right?

Just a harmless question :)

Macheath 09-12-2003 07:58 PM

meff, it's sort of hard to describe. From a scientific point of view, you ARE actually getting nicotine into the system without inhaling. The smoke you breathe into your mouth puts nicotine into the bloodstream via the walls of the mouth and throat, as opposed to cigarette nicotine entering the bloodstream via the alveoli in the lungs. Because the the mouth is a "less efiicient" delivery system for nicotine, the overall experience is much more relaxing and subtle.

Then there is the taste. Because of the high quality of the tobacco in a good cigar, you can "roll" the smoke around in your mouth with your tounge and taste it just as if you were tasting a fine wine. This is partly why its important to choose a good cognac or whiskey to complement the taste of the cigar.

Sabonis 09-13-2003 01:17 PM

My favorite cigars are "It's-A-Boys"

Sorry, that is a Mitch Hedberg joke. I have actually never smoked a cigar.

davey1945 09-18-2003 01:52 AM

For a good mid price range cigar, I like the Punch Grand Cru robusto

battlemouth 09-18-2003 04:53 AM

i think i've had those punch ones before, it was pretty good

iamjero 09-18-2003 05:01 AM

Id have to say Green Leaf Optimos beacuse you can take the outer leaf off and re roll it quite nicely. The green leaf on the outside is thinner than a Zig Zag and it gives it a spliffy taste.

Fire 09-18-2003 07:35 PM

I just tried a Blondie from acid cigars- incredible- great aromatic smell- kinda like incense- and great taste....anybody tried their others- wana try em but they get pricey quick
