Absinthe
I would really like to try absinthe but I don't know that much about the product, i.e what kind to buy.
I know that I will have to get it imported into U.S, but does anyoone has any experience drinking it? If so, what kind and how did you get it? Where did you get it? Thanks. |
There's a thread about this over here . Come join us...

I am glad you asked. Im not sure if its legel even to import anywhere in the states, i know its legel in Ontairo, no where else in Canada, just Ontairo. Anyway, i recently bought some for my 19 birthday. Its insane. What i got is "absinte" with a sister plant to the real Wormwood, with is the main hullusinagin(sp?) in Absinthe. The sister plant isnt as strong but it still works. The buzz is just like being drunk, very very very drunk, like the drunkest you've ever been. So Much Fun. http://www.laboheme.uk.com/absinthe.htm
this is a good website if you want to try to buy some. It's expensive, but worth it |
becareful: unless i'm highly mistaken it is not legal to inport.
btw, this is one thing I've always wanted to dry but wary of due to neuro disease. any thoughts? |
I understand it gives you a huge headache the next day.
|
all i know is that Trent Reznor drinks some in the "The Perfect Drug" video.

I thought he chopped it off because he had titanis, or whatever it's called, where you here a pitch pitched noise constantly, and went crazy about it.
Well, I'm pretty clueless anyways. I'm staring at your tits. They are nice. Oh and doesnt absinthe fuck your brain up? I heard that's why it's illegal all over. |
Van Gogh was more than likely manic depressive. And the effects of alcohol (absinthe has a high alcohol content) and depression most likely drove him to chop off his ear......lobe, not the thujone in the absinthe (no way to no for sure though).
For more info check out the link to the thread in MICAH67's post above. To learn about buying a bottle go here: http://www.sepulchritude.com/chapelperilous/absinthe/ |
its expensive to get good stuff shipped here, google it
|
I'm going to england in 2 weeks and bringing back some absinthe with me. I've had it before. It tastes like rotting ass but it's fun to drink.
|
I may be wrong, but I thought I read somewhere that the absinthe you can buy legally today doesn't have the wormwood extract (or whatever it is that gave the old-time version its hallucinogenic properties).

Check the latest Maxim, they review several brands and show you how to prepare it properly.
Perhaps you should check www.absinthe.com ? |
*King chases the midgets around his room*
Why is my arm falling off? I should drink this shit more often. |
Here's some of the more expensive but better stuff... is made using wormwood and a whole hell of a lot of it. http://www.seborabsinth.com/

I tried it when I went to Prague last summer. They gave us a glass with about 1-2 oz of Absinth, a spoon, some packs of sugar and a book of matches. Thats it. No instructions or anything.
I remember reading a article about Absinth in an old issue of GQ where a sugar cube was put on a perforated spoon and water was poured over it to a) melt the cube and b) cut the drink. Anyway, after looking like idiots, the waiter came back and showed us what to do. Sugar goes in the spoon. Spoon is dipped into the Absinth and then lit. What you get is a nice little toy :) Just make sure you DON'T spill any of the lit sugar into the glass of Absinth (which I did) becaue then you get one glass of fire; it does look cool though :) Anyway, after the sugar is melted, drop it into the glass, mix it up and then drink. |
I want to know the best stuff to get, actually reasonable, that I can import and get fucked up on.

Originally posted over there: I've been doing a little research online I'll be purchasing a bottle shortly, so after I give it a whirl I'll be sure post a review. What I've learned is the top-notch stuff will set you back about $225.00 a bottle. It's the Suisse La Bleue. It's made by bootleggers in Western Switzerland. Quote:
I've corresponded with the webmaster of this site and she's all business... If you're looking to acquire some absinthe from someone in the states and not hassle with all the overseas crap, this looks like the place to go... |
Anyone seen my arm?
