Ever get screwed from post. sec. school?
I am kinda curious...how many poeple have paid a shitload of money to get post secondary education, and not recieve an education?
I went to a Computer Tech College to get training as multimedia producer. Two months into the course the entire class (as well as other classes) were ready to sue the school for not teaching the course outline. The school suckered us all into staying by promising employment, high wages, and further training! In the duration of the course, classes were swapped by instructers, course outlines were changed. I took so many different classes that had nothing to do with my chosen prospective field, because some instructors were fired. I've had classes where the instructor maybe showed up 2 times for the class throughout the entire school year. The school claimed to have high standards in the training, and instructors that were held in high regards by the industry. After some research, we discovered otherwise. Basically, The entire school graduated without any knowledge or skills enough to get employment. Anything we accomplished in this school was by our own research and study, without professional instruction. I graduated with honours from this college. The highest marks recieved....What does that mean? NOTHING! Myself along with thousands of others cannot find employment with the lack of skills these "CON ARTISTS" provide. Every second commercial you see on T.V. is a Tech college, with some successful student telling their story of how the school helped provide them with a great career, the money to buy a house, a Jeep, Abs of steel, and etc. Their are so many evil, corrupt, private schools all over the place, conning people out of money by making and breaking promises. It is a saturated industry, because so many people are falling for the bullshit, like I did. They are teaching these skills in elementary school now....for free. Little Kids are getting our jobs, we paid Thousands and Thousands of dollars in education to get! Now we can all work at a fast food joint and starve to death! How can These Schools get away with it? |

Crazy.
I just finished a degree in a respected college here in Ireland. There are private places too, but primary degrees do not have fees associated with them (just a student services charge). I think that you have to be very careful who you lend your trust to in your education. As you have shown, there are many crooks. However, take heart, if you are talented you have a good chance of succeeding despite the odds.

I've been in 2 different post-secondary schools. The first college, I went for a 3-year Accounting program. In the second year, first day of classes the teacher never showed up, and we never did see him again.
Sure I learned some things, but out in the "real world" my education was worthless. No one would hire me without 3-5 years experience, and it seems like all the jobs in the accounting field were asking for qualifications I never recieved in school. Next I went to a Computer Tech school for a year. I learned alot. Mostly I learned there's no f'n jobs when you get out. |
