I haven't been there. Be forewarned, I hear some of the islands are volcanoes, you should probably avoid staying toward the middles of those.

Errr.....ALL of the islands are or were volcanoes....tis the whole Hawaiian volcanic chain. Tis a shield volcano though so no huge eruptions...

I just got back from Maui this morning. Unfortunately, I had to come home to work. I have never found two people who had the same opinions about what they liked best. Honolulu is a big city. I have not been to the Big Island or Kuai. On Maui you have to start with one big question. Hotel or condo? The hotel properties are beautiful, but they are big and a little sterile. I much prefer finding a condo on the water where you come a lot closer to experiencing what the islands have to offer. You then can fill every minute with activities on, off, and under the water. Or, you can sit back, BBQ, and watch the sunset. I like to find a balance between the two extremes.

we found a private arboretum on Maui with one room cottages and pool...you don't have to follow the herd...xoxoxoo

You lucky bastard!!! I love Kauai! My wife and I have been going there as often as we can afford to, since our honeymoon.

If you like the wildlife then do not go to honolulu. I have been living on O'ahu for few years now. Kauai would be your best bet but Big Island and Maui are great too.
