Does anyone know when MMJ will be available in AZ?
Asking here because its not about politics. Just a quick question. When can I get medical marijuana? I am already qualified for it (seizures). I've looked at websites but none of them say the date I can actually get it.

Arizona's Medical-Marijuana Pioneers Don't Know the Final Rules of the Game Yet -- But They Are Certain of the Prize - Page 1 - News - Phoenix - Phoenix New Times
"The DHS will start accepting applications for dispensary licenses on May 1. But it only has 124 licenses to grant — one per dispensary location." "Patients can begin applying for their get-out-of-jail free cards on April 14." I hope it is better implemented here than in California... I still think if I am allowed to own a gun, I should be able to grow mj for personal use. I like how the article said that there would only be one shop in North Tempe. I wonder if I can invest in that. (And I would have been healthier had I used it a few times back in college for mental health problems that to someone who voted against this or prop 19, would have deemed wrong or not qualifying) |

Fuck, I can't wait that long. I need relief 5 years ago. Even if the dispensaries aren't up why can't I get a goddamn card early and buy from other sources? Fucking monopolizing pricks.
edit: at 18 you can die for your country, but you can't drink beer or grow a specific plant. So fucked up. |

Check the Arizona Department of Health Services website - Proposition 203: Arizona Medical Marijuana Act
I believe they want to have the initial rules finalized by April; and have patients start to register then, too. The first legal purchase at a licensed dispensary won't be until June at the earliest. Bookmark the above site, though - that's the official information site.

My understanding is that they are still working out the rules and it will be at least a month before cards are issued.
I thought it was really funny to come across this ad on craigslist the other day though. Talk about shady! Licensed MD or DO to Write Medical Marijuana Evaluations at Our Clinic

cadre, I'm sure that a few Arizona physicians specializing in Pain Management will base their practice on MM; The DEA and the AZ Medical Board (and other states) have really started cracking down on the use of narcotics and benzos for pain relief. I don't understand the logic of keeping a chronic pain patient from becoming addicted to their meds - the condition is life-long; so what difference does it make if you're addicted to something you'll take till the day you die? But I guess that's for another thread.
Anyway, MM offers a non-addictive alternative without the hassles that come from prescribing narcotics and benzos. However, doctors don't get a pass on responsibility; they have to sign that they will be responsible for pain management of each patient they approve for MM. So, they just can't be their "marijuana doctor." They are responsible for all facets of pain management for each patient. So far, Arizona is doing its best to keep Medical Use separate from Recreational Use. EDIT: I forgot to add, the rules as of now state: "The draft rules require a dispensary to employ or contract with a physician to be the dispensary's medical director." So that ad may be legit. If that particular person is looking to open two dispensaries, the rules require that two doctors be hired.

Like I said, although a few doctors will focus their practice on MM; most will just make it a part of their practice, while some - quite a few, perhaps - will not have any part of it.

I love how nobody can fuck with flag-patriotic-i fought-iwasasoldiersoimright BS.
Truth is, young americans are filled to the brim with patriotic BS. I know, I recited the pledge of allegiance every morning. I had people insult me because my country wouldn't follow theirs into a questionable (and still questioned) war. So the 18 year old who isn't trusted enough to buy beer still has his judgment clouded with all that crap, before he can even buy legal drugs. "My flag" is one of the most addicting drugs, especially as an unfuckwith-able argument.

Yeah, it's a shame TFP has become a community where one condescending, self-righteous threadjacker can prompt a moderator to warn everyone to be civil, and threaten to close an otherwise informative thread. I can remember a time here when personal attacks on fellow members would get you banned; or at least warrant an unambiguous warning.
Hopefully, the OP got the needed information and we can move on.
