What do you call this place?
I was with some friends this weekend and I was trying to describe this place to them. I got all the descriptions out about the kind of community it is, but when asked for a name I referred to it as TFP instead of the long name of Tilted Forum Project.
I realized that I never refer to it as it's full name. Maybe sometimes, I'll refer to it as Tilted so that I can keep discussing the different websites, but other than that. It's very rare for me to call it Tilted Forum Project.

Usually TFP when/if I talk about it. In my head, it's "t" since that's all i have to type to bring up my CP in the browser.

TFP, with people who know I'm part of an internet discussion forum, i.e. my husband, ZombieSquirrel, and assorted other friends who are now used to me discussing topics from TFP in real life.
For those who don't know me that well, i.e. my coworkers, I usually refer to it as "an internet discussion forum I am a part of."

TFP, mostly, but by its full name when I'm trying to describe it to others. This place's name describes it perfectly, I think, & is very attractive.

TFP for the few people that I've introduced to this place. On the rare occasion I bring it up among others, I just refer to it as a internet forum I visit.

My wife refers to it as "your internet girlfriend".
TFP informally or by its full name if I'm introducing it to someone.

I really only talk about this place with people who are on it, so I call it TFP. IF I happen to mention it to an outsider, I refer to it as an online message board that I am on.

I call it "that American board" if I mention anything here to my wife. Online I talk about it to people from it, so I call it TFP.

If you know what it is, I say TFP. I say "internet thing" to those not so familiar.
I was never really an "internet person." I did my email and livejournal/myspace/facebook stalking. I'd check my news sites and maybe randomly google something. I could be done with the web in 15-20 minutes. Now I'm on this site all the darn time. First forum I was ever a part of and TFP popped my webcamera cherry. Go you guys! Not being a big internet person, my friends tend to be unplugged as well. So when I am talking to non TFPers I call it my internet thing. They don't tend to ask questions. |
