What do you do when all your plans fall through?
 

Let's see, I have four separate groups of friends (in other words that don't know each other and we do different things) but more than I'd like plans fall through with all of them. What do you do when you're all psyched up to go out and have a good time with friends and all your plans fall through?

Me I smoke and drink. I know its not healthy but I don't know what else to do. I hate having my plans interrupted (like OCD hate) and it bugs me a lot.

I'm an introvert, so mostly I get along fine with just my own company.:) Last week I got stood up for a casual lunch date. I went out anyway, had dessert, and read the Boston Globe for a half hour while raising my caffeine level. No big deal.
You could try keeping a contingency plan for when this happens. Go out anyway, watch TV, read a book. Good luck.

I have motherfuckers cancel on me all the time. The worst, for me, is getting another dude to go to the frickin' range so we can do drills.

It appears that "Okay, I'll see you then," is the raging uterus punch of death to all my plans.

Typical Friday/Saturday Night:

A: *sitting in booth at Hooters, drinking giant Miller Lite*
B: "Hey, brah... you wanna go play GI Joe tomorrow?"
A: "Righteous... meet at my place at 8 and we'll hit the woods."
B: "Okay, I'll see you then. Don't forget the stapler."

*the next day, 9:48*

B: "Sorry about that, man. I drank too much last night (a whole case of Natty, by myself)."
A: "Uh. Okay. No worries (aside from your liver). Wanna go at noon?"
B: "Okay, I'll see you then."

*12:24*

B: "Sorry, my [girlfriend... dog... car... IED... giant octopus]."
A: "Word. Call me when you trade in your vagina for a penis."

Needless to say, I spend a lot of time shooting by myself.

I'm not a social person in the traditional sense (being all awkward and retarded) but I'm definitely not an introvert.

I do like bar hopping when there are enough people to warrant a DD without it being a buddy team BAC roulette game.

My biggest problem is that I have almost no friends outside my job. And my job is full of the social scum of the Earth.

In order to fix this problem, I have to make friends that have no clue about my job and that are more punctual than a corpse.

It isn't necessarily the activity, it's just that whatever activity it is gets shitcanned in favor of drinking three gallons of beer solo and waking up the next day a few hours late to give me a call that says, "Hey, I'm late." No shit, Captain Obvious. I used to try to organize wealthy divorced cougar hunts with these more-money-than-brains knuckledicks but they were too busy molding a couch cushion to their ass at home in front of a 96" plasma TeeVee.

Plans only work for people who are Type A-Type A enough to get out of bed. I need more Type A-Type A friends in my life.

Slackers don't make plans. Type A people make plans. Type A-Type A people make plans and actually follow through.

EX: Spinelust. I said, "Hey, I'm going to Chicago. You should come with." Her response? "[Let's do this motherfucker.]"

Booked the tickets the next day. Made it happen. That's what I like to see; people that grab life by the balls.

Too bad you don't live near me, we could create a lead shortage in no time.

If someone blows me off and I'm ready to do something, I just go do something. If not, I don't. I don't go out very often, so I really don't mind being blown off, because it's usually something I really care to do anyway. If it's fishing, shooting, hiking...........something of that nature, I'll go alone or find someone else to go with.


I do go out of my way to give anyone who blows me off enough shit about it, that they stop calling or won't do it again.

Well, I'm going to pull a Dr. Phil and suggest that one type of person isn't necessarily better than the others... it's just that you should be familiar with the ambition level of your friends so that you don't have plans fall through all the time and somehow remain surprised by it. Some people are flakes.

My avatar is always up for anything. Lot's of reasons to have a dog, she is my primary hiking, skiing, snowshoeing buddy. She's always, always up for one more run or one more mile. I haven't really figured out how to take her for a ride on my bike, yet; but she'd be game.


Shit happens, I give people about 20 min and go without them. 2 or 3 misses and I won't bother making further plans.

Usually I just go with it and find something else to do. It's not too frequent that I actually have plans with other people, so when I do I tend to get excited, and having them fall through irritates me when it isn't my fault.

I try not to take it personally but oftentimes I will, especially when I try to get friends together for some sort of activity and they blow me off, and I later find out they went off and did fun stuff with each other instead.

Do these friends of mine just suck, or (more likely than not) is it me? I bathe and brush my teeth regularly, I swear.

TFP. Oh, and there's always something to do in the lab.

I get annoyed, and end up smoking or drinking a lot, or going to bed early, depending on how much I was looking forward to it.
Surprisingly, I'm one of the more organised people among those I'm hanging out with these days. It gets annoying, and I gotta find a way to make better(or at least, less flaky) friends.

I rarely head out on two wheels with out people so those hobbies are not dependent on others.

I get over it - I've seen alot of BULL in my life, so things like that hardly ever upset me that much.
