Favorite Epic Movie Character

Everyone knows a character in a movie that they wish they knew in real life. how cool would it be to have tyler durden conducting project mayhem down the road. how awesome would it be to walk into a bar only to see Tom Cruise playing pool? how scary would it be to see Anthony Hopkins in a cafeteria just chowing down on some guy's liver?

my personal favorite is John Goodman's character in The Big Lebowski. i think i would piss myself out of sheer joy if i went bowling only to find some fat vet settling bowling disputes with a 9mm and babbling about government and philosophy.

what about TFP? what epic movie character would you want to hang out with? but the rules are you can only pick one

I'm partial to Samuel L. Jackson. Because he yells. All the time. For no reason. And says witty things like "frosty beverage."

It doesn't matter what variant of the screaming man, but the Pulp Fiction one would be fine. If he'd replace my boss, that'd be great.

If I lived in New Jersey, I'd choose Charlton Heston, and vote for him to be Governor so he could part the waters of the Hudson into Manhattan instead of spending $8.7 billion for the tunnel project.

But since I live in Pennsylvania, I'd pick Obi-Wan Kenobi and hopefully he could teach me the ways of the Jedi Knights and The Force.

As my first and second choices have already been taken, I will fall back on an old reliable:

You can find him and his wife seeking asylum in Canadia at the moment, apparently he's just as whacked IRL as Cousin Eddy was in the movie.

Oh, yeah!

...........

Man, what a tough choice, so many great characters. But I think I'm gonna have to go with Johnny Depp as Raoul Duke in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. If you've seen it, no explanation necessary. If you haven't, well......

Ashley J. "Ash" Williams as played by Bruce Campbell in Army of Darkness

The Ghostbusters. But it would have to be all of them at once.

Jove 11-11-2010 08:08 AM

Aragorn and Leonidas

I'm surprised no one has picked this one yet....

Tyler Durden.

Especially since he was mentioned in the OP.

I'm surprised there is no love for Arnold Schwarzenegger in this thread. I nominate him and all his ridiculous Herculean action roles.

Dutch, Matrix, T-800. He's always being a larger-than-life character straight from some comic book. You can't not enjoy his cliche'dness.

Nepenthes 11-11-2010 07:11 PM

Lou Dorchen character from Hot Tub Time Machine.

I'd like to have hung around with Burt Lancaster's Bob Valdez from "Valdez Is Coming".
The character was smooth and unflappable. He was a man of integrity and a certain doggedness that saw him through to the end.
Definitely a man to ride the river with.
