England Football Question
 

Hi People.

Wonder if anyone can help. I am certain that I remember a warm up game between England and some really odd club side (English) back in the 80's that was embarrassingly bad.

None of the people I work with have a clue what I'm talking about, despite me being the least interested in football of anyone in the office.

Can anyone remember (or google) the answer to this? I've tried, fruitlessly.

All I can do is confirm that I have a vague recollection of the same thing. I don't remember the club, date, score, or anything else of value.

This is exactly my problem - I think it was in the Taylor era, but I've got thoughts that Kevin Keegan was involved, which would put it earlier.

My recollection is that it was some 2nd or 3rd division club, and that the club team killed them, by complete fluke. However, I could be mixing up my stories. I did some google searching and it's nearly impossible to isolate "England National Team Embarrassment". Though I'm a Yank, I have a fondness for the English National Team and root for them every day but Saturday.

That's as I remember it too. Anyone else?
