why underwear and not commando
 

I was just wondering why does everyone normally wear underwear in just day to day life. I appreciate that girls wear a bra in order to hold there breasts up and in place, but otherwise why do you wear underwear?
what is its purpose. i have talked about it with my friends and it only really came down to hygiene, tho any other reasons?
I find the hygiene factor a little overated, as i clean myself throughly and switch clothes regulary anyways.

I guess the main deal is with boxer shorts. They are pretty much he same as not wearing underwear ie commando, cause they're not holding anything in place.
I know underwear is and can be very sexy, but i am talking about its fundamental purpose.
If i am not playing basketball or other sports i would be commando for most of the time, and it is great. The reason i don't wear underwear for common everyday use comes down to sometimes getting "ridden" by it (like a mini-wedgy) and it may be not to healthy for my privates, in that it is sometimes quite hot and tight which isn't good for the testies. Also without undies there is more air flow so it doesn't get as hot and consequently sweat etc is less likely (altho i deodrise myself all over anyways)
The only unfortunate circumstance, arise when you get "excited", although even with underwear it has to take up some space, and that underwear only effects the nature of the buldge.

so it'd be intersting to hear your thoughts on the topic and also what underwear you wear and why, in just normal everyday life.

i dont often wear them myself unless im wearing jeans, that stuff is rough on the ol'privates. Or any pants that the zipper isnt a hunderd precent secure. for reasons im sure we can all imagine

the zipper's ubiquitousness is number 1 on my list of reasons.

hygiene reasons, since no matter how well you shake... there's always going to be a few drops left.

I like the support as well. It definitely helps with erections at unopportune times...

For the gals, its definitely hygiene, since there's nothing to hold. There's a lot more secretions for them.

I don't find boxers too constricting - so I have not really thought too much about not going without. There is the aforementioned zipper thing, and a nice pair of boxers feels good for guys as well.

One thing not mentioned here. I wear alot of dress pants. Where I live, at least six months of the year you'll want some wool boxers. Or you will actually freeze your balls off.

i'm also afraid of the zipper.

other than that, it's the only thing that can control a hard on.

Briefs hold everything comfortably in place. And keep it out of the road of the zipper!

Also temperature isn't a big factor, i am in a mediteranean climate...

I don't wear any underwear unless I am gong to be excercising, and then I wear briefs.

I think most girls wear it to avoid chaging, and because they leak.

Also, as for containing erections, i think that the metaphorical "tent" is gonna generally occur anyways. Undies and such only effect the nature of any buldge that forms. And boxer shorts are no good as well. I know you can tuck it into the band on your pants or your belt, but its very dangerous.

Has anyone, who sleeps in boxers or other shorts with no top, woken up with an erection and unconscioulsy (thru habit, perhaps) tucked it under there band, only to discover the head of the little man downstairs is having a little peek out of your shorts. Its a killer, and happned to me a couple of times...very embarrasing.

My penis and my zipper have met before. They are not friends and don't get along together at all.

For this reason, I wear boxers.

Boxers with a center panel in back keep the the seam of my britches from riding into the crack so much.
Plus, I use my pockets, so drawers keep the chafing down.

I think the tight variety of undies can be really sexy. I love walking around with a bit of a bulge if I dont wanna put on the pants.

i wear boxers most of the time and boxer-briefs when exercising.

i just hate it when the boxers twist. especially when i gotta piss really bad and i'm trying to find that dam openning....and it's all the way to the side....ugh drives me nutz.

Boxers feel fine for me, I don't notice them very often.

Boxers are only worn for that 1 more layer of protection from getting the snake caught in the zipper, I've done that once or twice in my life and don't care to repeat the performance.

i wear them because if I didn't I imagine it would hurt. A lot. Sometimes, good underwear feels really good too. Not better than being naked, but it still feels good

Besides that, though, it's generally uncomfortable (to me) because Sam and the Twins are able to move all around while I walk.

Finally, I wear a lot of jeans, which are a bit harsh on the skin. I've gone commando several times but every time I'm always glad to go back to "tighty whities" or, at least, boxers (which I usually reserve for when I'm lounging in the house).

Well I think protection from the pants is the main reason for underware. Also the support is nice, especially when running. Oh and I like the boxer-briefs. Get the best of both worlds: support with some freedom(and not looking as goofy).

i ride a motorcycle, and when u wear boxers/go commando, and you have a nut slip between your leg and the tank...UGH! pain! watering eyes! ouch! always the briefs for me.

For myself - a girl - I find that jeans and pants that are just a little snug tend to ride up there and I get a frontal wedgie. Sometimes annoying, sometimes irritating, and occaisionally painful if you twist just wrong. Oh and the zipper actually bit me my skin once and grabbed the hair before I shaved it. When I wear dresses though I love to go without. It's to keep my clothes out of there. Another thing too - If I just happen to be turned on by something I'd prefer my dress slacks to not show it in some cases. lol

I find boxers to be a multi-purpose under garment. Some pants/shorts can be irritating to the skin, they protect against that. Also, if you don't wear a belt a lot, they can stop the edge of the moon from coming out. They, of course, protect against zippers. And if you need to toss your pants in a hurry or change quickly, you can do it in front of anyone. I've worn them for so long, going without them would feel funny...

I wear briefs only. Boxers are a waste of money. I need to keep everything up and out of the way, or things start to get squished, sweaty and sticky.

I agree with the whole hygiene issue. I wear a pair of jeans multiple times, but I only wear my underwear for a day before they get washed. I don't think I'd want to wear my jeans multiple times if my balls had sweated all over the jeans...

i wear shorts all the time, even with 5" of snow and 28º weather... i prefer my genitals not to be falling out when sitting in awkward (sp??) positions.... but other than that i would go camando.... i prefer the term "Free Balling" u know... "im freeeeee, freeeee falling" just a little different

I agree. I can't even wear boxers, i feel like I flop around too much. I like a nice tight package in my European briefs.
