It's not the heat...
This is for anyone living on the East Coast, or the surface of the sun (there's really no difference).
How are you surviving this weather? It snowed for 3 months...then rained for 3 months. Now when you leave your house, it's as if you've walked into a kiln. Is there any reason to leave the house? I guess I'll just stay here at TFP. |
Stay inside. I only go out to get food, and even then I have the air conditioner just blowing on my face.
It's too hot for me to put the convertible top down. I need to move where its sunny and 65 degrees everyday. |
God I wish I had central air!!!! I hole up in the computer room with door closed and window air conditioner on high.
Actually it will probably get worse. We've only seen the low 90's so far. |
Nice column in The Cleveland Plain Dealer today about the weather.
It was about "where did my summer go." That is how I feel. Like you mentioned, Joey, it feels like we have only had nice weather for a few weeks but its already past the fourth of July. What to do about it? Go outside. Go watch a baseball game. Go play lawn bowling. But stay outside. Why? Cause those months of snow are gonna be making a comeback before you are ready. |
You guys are nuts.
|
I stay inside my nice cool house....... if I have to go somewhere in the afternoon (this will make you laugh) I open the garage (detached garage) from the house and hit the remote starter on teh SS..... and let her get nice and cool, then I don't have to sit in a hot car. What I really like about the hot weather is the evenings...... drop teh top and cruise in style. :D
|
It was 120 degrees in Baltimore's Camden Yard for the game today. 120 degrees! I watched from my couch inside my 76 degree centrally cooled house.
|
I happen to like the heat! I'm staying at my frat over the summer, and I'm not using AC because it's expensive. I got a little fan at CVS and I'm fine.
On the other hand, the outside weather is not really bearable for long periods of time; hinders the exercising thing :-( |
I can't stand being cold so I'm relishing the heat, humidity and rain. I know in just a matter of months that it will be winter again but I'm not going to complain my summer away. It's the best time of the year!
|
hey pete, welcome to the chesapeake bay area...lived there for a few years (as you know)...still rather be warm than cold...humidity sucks, though, doesn't it?
|
Yea, its fucked up weather....try working in a greenhouse for 9 hours one of these days.....
|

Ah cmon, this is going outside season. Collapsing on the floor next to the ac vent just doesn't have the same charm unless you've been out playing football all day.

Yeah it's dry, but it's still hot. Juan in october the weather here is lovely... 80's as highs, 60's as lows.. it's great stuff.. "winter" here is great compared to Indiana/Chicagoland where i grew up.. |

:D We trust you rogue, help us out! |
I love the heat after the like 9 months of winter. I can't wait ever day to get out of the office to enjoy the warmth. The only issue is sleeping, I only have a window a/c in my bedroom, which I just put in yesterday, what a difference it makes, I slept like a baby for the 4 hours I normally sleep!

Let me know where I can send your dollar. :hmm: |
Hey man, that shit about it being a dry heat is the truth. I live in damn Tennessee, and it STAYS humid here. You walk outside for literally TWO minutes and your shirt is sticking to your back. I recently went to Florida, and it was very not humid. It was about a hundred and four degrees and I just sat outside, relishing it. I wasn't even sweating, because I'm so used to this Tennessee humidity. When it gets to be a hundred and four degrees here, and believe it or not, it does, its UNBEARABLE. So don't tell me it isn't true. Because I know it is.
|
Believe or not we don't have the hot humid days this year in Florida. We have rain. It has rained 30 of the last 35 days. Last week we got 14 inches of rain in three days time. Still I think I prefer that to the heat.
|
Try walking around the good old midwest in Junly and August. It usually gets up around 100 in the shade in late July and early August plus you have to add in the humidity.

I don't have central air so I hole up in my TV room when I'm at home. I don't mind going out as long as I'm not expected to do anything strenuous. I'd kill for 60 degrees and drizzly any day. |
Sweating going to the mailbox.
Sweating getting out of the shower. Sweating while reading. Sweating while thinking about reading. Oh, great it's raining again. Sweating while watching the rain. |
man...texas is pretty bad. hot and humid. i walk across the street from one building to another and already feel like i need a shower.
i go outside to get the mail and my ass is in sweat within seconds. sigh |
