There is a video circulating on the net of a very pretty blond Danish woman who says she slept with a tourist 18 mo ago and got pregnant, and is now looking for the father of the child. She's very pretty. Extremely pretty. Stunning.

It turns out she is an actress, the child is not hers, and the video was created by the tourism authority in Denmark to try to attract tourists. Apparently the thought is that men will go to Denmark as tourists in the hope of getting laid by some stunning Danish blondes.

I'm having trouble figuring out whether this is an act of diabolical marketing genius or a herald of the end of civilization, brought to ruin by utter cynicism.

Well if it works it is brilliant. I think it is disgusting.

I find it more funny than anything. Maybe not brilliant, but definitely original and creative. They are capitalizing on their reputation as the world's most sexual country.

Even if I didn't know it was a hoax, I would be disinclined to believe it. A woman this pretty meets a guy (a tourist no less) and immediatly sleeps with him, yet she hasn't slept with anyone since (presumably 18 months). Right.

I'd vote it disgusting, but I might also be inclined to hop on a plane to Denmark anyway....

In terms of Psychological Engineering... it's brilliant. Find a human attribute (the male desire for sex with a gorgeous young woman), and find a way to exploit it (make it appear that this is something that could happen to you).

In terms of ethics, it's disgusting, ranking right down there with internet 419 scams... an outright malicious ploy to manipulate an unsuspecting person into doing something he normally wouldn't.

In terms of advertising and tourism, it's to be expected.

In practical terms... it likely means Denmark is going to be overrun with drunken men trying to fuck every female they can catch up with.

That little kid is REALLY a cute baby. Too bad he was taken advantage of for such a low-down, commercial purpose. If I was that little boy, I'd hire me a good lawyer and sue the Danes responsible for this stinkin' plot. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark!

I think you are being a little dramatic here. People get hurt in scams, there is no victim here. It is just a silly ad trying to get men to come there and try to score with their loose women.

Just because someone hooked up one night doesn't mean they do it often.

I know a bunch of Danes. The women tend to be insanely hot and remarkably unslutty. But that's just my personal experience, and I have a friend who's married to one (although sometimes I like her more than the friend).

I didn't catch this until after the big reveal, but I've got to say "mission accomplished" (and not in a From the Flight Deck of the "Enterprise" sort-of way either). When was the last time YOU thought about Denmark? It kind of makes me want to go visit since it confirms that they've got a pretty good sense of humor, if nothing else.

I heard on NPR Danish women aren't so happy with this ad. One can see why. Regardless of the ad, I make it a life goal to travel around the Scandinavian countries.

I s'pose that's true, but, sheesh, 18 months seems like a really long time to go without after giving it up so easily and so casually. Just saying it's a factor that would cause me to seriously doubt the video's veracity if I didn't know otherwise from reading this thread.

If I were a dude, I'd want to stay away from Danish women after seeing this. I wouldn't want to father some child with some tramp! Fuck that!
