Keith Floyd, dead at 65
What a legend, what a magnificent fuck up. No other TV chef can put themselves in this man's class. Let alone the likes of Gordon Ramsey who are no just "fucking cooks"!
Did any of the British people here see that how on Channel 4 last night with Keith Allen? It was uncomfortable and sad to me, but its true he lived his life how he wanted... and kind of ironic, the comments Keith Allen kept making about the way TV exploits and arranges timing to make things seem more significant than they are... and we see the sad and drunk old men shuffle away from the table and the next day he's dead. |
I read this in the paper this morning...
While I was never a big fan of Floyd, I do appreciate his contribution to food television and the foundation that he helped to build. Interestingly, his programs still receive reasonable ratings in Asia. I don't know that there aren't tv personalities that are better than him but he did set the stage for what was to come. |
He showed me it was ok to mess about in the pursuit of great food. i will always remember him for that.
I was taken as a teenager to one of his restaurants and it was great. |
Sorry for your loss.
