So i posted an ad for standard photography services but everyone wants nudes?
when a fellow photographer told me CL is full of people wanting nude photos... I didn't really believe her.. till now :oogle:
So I'm trying to start up some freelance work to earn some much needed money. The first and only responder so far to my craigslist ad wants erotic nude photos, he's an older male. I'm not particularly offended by the idea and would like to have some cash. I'm up to entertaining the idea if the money is there, but I'm most worried about the guy turning into a pervert or worse on me. (I would likely be equally concerned if this was a female) So I'm posing this question, what would you do? If I do accept his offer how should I go about making this work? or should I run for my life and not respond to him? what precautions should be taken? I'm currently thinking of just responding and asking him what he would like to pay and what all will the shoot involve.. |
go get your cash...be cautious...bring a weapon.
a job is a job, and if it pays, then why not do it? |
Agreed with above.
Decide if you feel comfortable shooting strange and random male nudity, and if you can be somewhat sure that you will get due compensation for your time & work. In the meantime before and after your "rendezvous", you should check out Where Professional Models Meet Model Photographers - ModelMayhem and see if you can subscribe to a membership there. It's a site for models wanting photographers, and vice-versa. |
If he's paying then make sure you tell him you will bring someone with you and he should do the same too. Tell him you get a lot of such requests but mostly for women and even though you understand that he is male, you have to follow "company guidelines" for legal purposes.
The last part will be true. |
i asked him for what he was looking to do and his price range... i stated that I work professionally and legally so no silly stuff. no response yet.

I second the "bring a friend/witness/minder" approach also.

Bring a friend. Anyone with bad intentions won't want another party present.
|
if they're nude photos, find out what rights you will have with them. Does he want all the rights to the photos, meaning you can't use them for your portfolio or repost them anywhere? Be sure to get this out of the way up front, you may even want to look into drafting something in writing in case it gets ugly.
Here's some quick info: http://nudemodelssite.com/info.php Look on the net for examples of contracts and such. Also, bringing a friend wouldn't be a bad idea, especially for you first time working with the photographer. If he objects, he's not worth your time. |
