Almost finished with Choke by Chuck Palahniuk

teshadoh 08-14-2003 03:24 PM

Choke was a cool book, I liked it. I just finished Lamb - it's a fictional account of Jesus (of course it's fictional) & his best friend Biff. It recounts all of their adventures.

By the way - how was Life of Pi smarm?

That is one of my all time favorites! I've re-read it several times.

I'm going through a classic children's lit/juvenile fiction stage. Just finished "Five Children and It," and I am reading "The Indian in the Cupboard." (Loved them both, great summer reading)

Just about have the fifth Harry Potter memorized. Papa was kind enough to send the youngest the Audio book for his birthday, we're on the 3rd repition now, and I read it all the way through once.

Johnny Rotten 08-14-2003 07:36 PM

About to dig into Roadside Picnic by the Strugatsky brothers. They're supposed to be the pinnacle of Russian science fiction. If you Google, you can find a text file of this book, but I won't link to it, because I don't know if it's legit.

I liked Life of Pi... I couldn't put it down after I had read about 1/4th of it. My wife really enjoyed it, as well.

crewsor 08-15-2003 07:26 PM

John Grisham, The King of Torts. It was OK, but his books all seem too similar. Think I'll switch up to some horror next.

Black house, by stephen kind and Peter Strauss. I used to really enjoy Stephen King when I was a kid, and I'm always enjoy reading his work out of nostalgia for those days.

I've also got some Asimov lined up. I'm gonna try to finish one of his books this time.

mml 08-18-2003 10:47 AM

Finished "The War of the Flowers" by Tad Williams last week - good fantasy book, short for Williams it is a complete story in one reasonably long book.

Now I am reading "Neuromancer" by William Gibson and "Guns, Germs & Steel, The Fates of Human Societies" by Jared Diamond. Both are fantastic.

Cheers to everyone reading Herman Hesse and if you have nevery read anything by Neil Gaiman, you should.

mml 08-18-2003 10:51 AM
