Favourite Alcoholic Drink

What's your poison?

What drink do you despise?

What's the drink you swear every weekend/month never to touch again? The one that sends you over the edge?

flat5 07-24-2009 01:38 AM

My fav. is the free one.
Anything that does not give me a headache.
I don't have a real fav. I enjoy getting a little bit high on various drinks.
During rehearsal season, on Wednesdays nights, I'll maybe start with a coffee & Baileys.
Then whiskies, or Gordon's gin, usually with bitter tonic. Sometimes just red wine for the three hours or a few cognacs...or beers.

CinnamonGirl 07-24-2009 01:48 AM

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...wicks_logo.jpg

Also: Guinness, Harp, Stella, Bass, and Red Stripe. If I'm drinking wine, I'll go for Shiraz or Red Zin. Shotwise, I prefer rum or Car Bombs.

I always swear I'll never drink Jager again. Nasty, nasty stuff. Seems like everytime I get a free shot, though, it's either a Jager Bomb or Liquid Cocaine. *shudder*

SSJTWIZTA 07-24-2009 02:32 AM

Beer!

im not picky, just fucking beer.

+1 on the jager. jager always ends with bad business.

uncle phil 07-24-2009 02:53 AM

bourbon and coke is my drink of choice...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...nandcoke-1.jpg

i have a story about too much gin, a pick-up truck, and a bale of barbed wire, but that's for another time...

samcol 07-24-2009 04:26 AM

Manhattan with maker's mark is my drink of choice (although I will gladly drink them with bottom shelf bourbon as well) a good micro brewed is my favorite choice when it comes to beer and I will usually choice a pale ale.

wooÐs 07-24-2009 05:17 AM

#1 - vodka / tonics. They go down so nice!
White wine spritzers are great in the summer.
In the cooler months, I sometimes go with a cabernet.

I will never ever EVER drink Jack Daniels shots again. omfg I'll never forget how I felt and how I smelled that next day. It was oozing out of my pores :(.

Halanna 07-24-2009 05:27 AM

I love white russians. Made properly they taste like chocolate milk. I drink them very rarely though.

My go to drink on the weekends is simple beer. Michelob Ultra, or Bud Light if I can't get that.

I can't drink any of the dark liquors, scotch, burbon, whiskey, etc. That just results in a wicked hangover.

Cynthetiq 07-24-2009 05:27 AM

jim beam and coke.

I drank'em all from A-Z, left to right. I can't tell you what I didn't like, there wasn't much or many.

hey OP, what's yours?

vanblah 07-24-2009 05:55 AM

This is my favorite.

http://dubberandclutch.com/wp-conten...phroaig-30.jpg

Laphroaig - the maker of the World's favourite Islay single malt scotch whisky.

I also like Irish whiskey and lately I've been drinking Feckin' (Feckin Irish Whiskey 'an Irish Whiskey for the rogue in all of us').

It's usually vodka/Jack Daniels with some kind of mixer (preferably diet coke), or Disaronno (on ice).

When it comes to shots, if I'm feeling tame, apple sours. If not, Tequila. Always Tequila.

I love white wine, but I'll only drink a glass or so at a time, usually with dinner. Wine has no mercy on me. :oogle:

healer 07-24-2009 06:12 AM

The go-to drink of choice is Jack & lime, followed by vodka & passion fruit / Southern Comfort & appletiser.

Beer, in order of preference: Amstel, Tafel (Namibian Brew), Stella, Heineken, Castle (South African).

Jager, but only in a bomb. Tequila, but only José and even then, very rarely.

I prefer red to white wine, especially Cabernets and Pinotages.

Halx 07-24-2009 06:18 AM

Maker's Mark & Coke

LoganSnake 07-24-2009 06:54 AM

I never drink anything straight. Don't like hard liquor. Hate beer, but I think I'm warming up to Miller Lite.

Long Island Iced Tea
Mai Tai
Hawaiian Stone Sour
Appletini (thanks, JD)
Kahlua mixes

snowy 07-24-2009 07:00 AM

I don't drink much these days, but there are a few things I still enjoy from time to time. Pinot noir, for one; I rarely say no to a glass of Oregon pinot. Yummy. As far as cocktails go: I like a gin and tonic made with Bombay and several slices of lime on hot days, and I make a mean mojito with homegrown Moroccan mint. In the winter, I have a bottle of Maker's Mark on hand for making hot toddies with a variety of fancy sugars and spices. My favorite combo is a bit of Demerara sugar, Makers, and a bit of freshly grated nutmeg across the top of the toddy. But since I really hate hangovers, I only have one of these before it's back to Diet Pepsi.

KellyC 07-24-2009 08:12 AM

I'm not much of a drinker, but here's what I usually drink when I go out.

mixed: Vodka red bull and jager bomb are the standard drinks. Long island, AMF, and some other drinks for variation. I've been wanting to try mixing pomegranate juice with some vodka, a wedge of lime and pinch of salt or sugar for some time now but haven't gotten around to it.
shots: patron tequila has been the only thing I can stomach
beer: Blue Moon with some orange juice, corona with some lime and salt--ICE COLD. It's funny, back a few years ago I hated beer and drinking in general and now I'm enjoying it. Damn peer pressure.
wine: we don't drink wine in my circle so I don't know, but I do know that I like sweet wine.

As for what I despise: warm beer. Hennessy and its ilk. My brother (and his friends) insists on this crap. Saying now smooth it goes down and it has such a nice aroma. This shit makes me wanna puke every time. Oddly enough, Patron has the same effect on him.

DaniGirl 07-24-2009 08:22 AM

Screwdriver of course. Well mainly vodka and rum. I hate the taste of beer.

Glory's Sun 07-24-2009 08:32 AM

Ketel One neat. very slightly chilled.

or a madras with Ketel.

not a fan of beer unless it's Yuengling.

hate rum
not a fan of wine
and due to some things that I stupidly did years and years ago.. I can't even smell tequila or jager anymore

ring 07-24-2009 08:48 AM

Patron Silver on the rocks.

(and the empty bottles make beautiful flower-vases)

shalafi 07-24-2009 09:08 AM

for shots I like Patron - room temp. I don't like it chilled

Capt n Coke w/ lime or gin n tonic w/ lime have been my go to drinks probly since I started drinking

my least favorite liquor is probly Cuervo. if I do a shot of that I have to just sit and breathe deep breaths for about 5 mins and concentrate on not throwing up

LordEden 07-24-2009 09:49 AM

Rum. Captain Morgain's Spiced Rum (original). Warm. I usually chase it with a glass of water or a beer, depending on who is around me.

Beer... I'm not choosy. I'll drink watered down American piss beer (Miller High life being my favorite cheap ass beer) but I love local brewed beers. I'm a Heineken fan, also Bass and Harp. I'll try anything once, I *LOVE* IPAs. The more bitter the better. I've recently fell in love with a beer called Hoppyum by a local brewery in Winston Salem NC. So hoppy... it's a strong drink, but so good.

If I have to get a mixed drink, it's either a Royal Flush or a Captain and Coke. I don't drink soft drinks as it gives me heartburn, but every once in a while I'll get one.

Zeraph 07-24-2009 09:52 AM

I have an odd rotating palette. Sometimes I love gin and tonic, and sometimes I despise it. Same goes for beer, white russian (aka caucasian), bourbon, etc.

yournamehere 07-24-2009 10:15 AM

Well, I've already had my lifetime's worth of alcohol, but on the very rare occasion that I do imbibe (it's been over 8 months since the last one), I like a nice hefty shot of Rumpleminze, straight out of the freezer, in a frozen glass, with an ice-water chaser. If I really want to splurge, I'll chase it with a Bass Ale.

Craven Morehead 07-24-2009 10:26 AM

Beer - Heineken Premium Light, Warsteiner Dunkel, Pacifico (my favorite summer beer) and sometimes Blue Moon and its seasonal brews - pretty much a wide variety
Mixed drinks - Makers Mark on the rocks, Grey Goose on the rocks with a lemon squeeze
Wine - a nice smooooooth merlot

Drinks I never want to injure myself with again - rum and coke, cheap tequila

Hard8s 07-24-2009 01:07 PM

Mixed drink would be a 7 & 7. I like to use Seagram's Seven and a generic brand of lemon lime soda though. But Jack Daniels and lemon lime soda works as well.

For Beer any thing Amber or dark. Lately its been Red Hook ESB. Can't stand that lite beer flavored water....

majik_6 07-24-2009 01:13 PM

I'm a big fan of (most) alcohol, but two of my all-time favorites would be a gin & tonic or a bourbon & dry ginger. Delicious!

Chilly McFreeze 07-24-2009 04:08 PM

Morgan's Spiced rum and Sprite. Don't know if it has a name, but it's awesome.

As for beer I'll drink pretty much anything, not a big fan of German beer though.

ItWasMe 07-24-2009 04:20 PM

My favorite is irish cream and a little Canadian whiskey in my coffee ( or just irish cream in coffee)
tried these on vacation when it was too hot for coffee. Pretty good.
Daiquiri (strawberry)
Pina Colada
The margaritas in Mexico are really good, if you can get past the first few sips.
Long Island Ice Tea

When it's hot and I'm out at the pool, or sometimes when I'm out on the town, I like fruity frozen drinks, like margaritas and daiquiris. But my absolute favorites, for serious drinking are these:

Shit I ttly forgot about Red Bull and vodka. I just tried this last summer and fell in love.

settie 07-24-2009 06:12 PM

Seven and Seven. Though its not the real deal unless I go out to a bar. I've never bought Seagram's, I just use Crown Royal.
Awesome drink. My fave....at the moment.

m0rpheus 07-24-2009 06:34 PM

Since I work at a brewery I tend to drink my fair share of Sleeman beers.

If I'm out I tend to drink rye and cokes or pints of whatever premium/import is on tap.

Also I'm a big fan of the Caesar which is apparently a Canadian thing but trust me nothing beats a well made Caesar.

I no longer drink, but...

1. Vodka & diet tonic water with a slice of either fresh lemon or lime.

2. Any liqueur that tastes like licorice/anise.

3. All/any of them. I haven't had a drink in nearly 21 months.

ObieX 07-24-2009 07:26 PM

Hard - jack and coke with oj and orange slice :p (1/2 jack, 1/4 coke, 1/4oj)

Beer - Bass Pale Ale

I don't much care for any kind of beer, :no:except if it is really hot, (the weather, not the beer) and I'm outside.
Non alcoholic, I love limeade. Also really cold milk. Also tonic (quinine water) either with or without gin.

my cousin made me a caesar once. Unfortunately, I hate clamato juice...or tomato juice altogether. the smell makes me queasy. So that drink and I are enemies.
But yes! It does seem to be a very popular drink here in Canada. :P

murp0434 07-24-2009 11:23 PM

I'm a bad one for this question....I love vodka and tequila, I'm a huge fan of beer, the more micro the better. The last good beer I had was de konnonik (sp?) dutch beer. The last bad beer I had was 'stones. The last tasty "pop" beer I had was red stripe. The last excellent drink I had was an LIT, the last terrible drink I had was an LIT that I was too drunk to realize I'd poured Vodka and tequila twice instead of setting them down in favor of the rum gin and triple sec - - - oops. I suppose I'd prefer it if I never did THAT again. To answer the OP...............I think my favorite "drink" is a Jag Bomb and my favorite "shot" is a prairie fire (tequila and tabasco) and yes I do realize that both of those are actually shots.

DaniGirl 07-25-2009 06:54 AM

I forgot about Coco Vodka. Its awesome in hot chocolate!!!

FelixP 07-25-2009 07:58 AM

I typically prefer Jack Daniels, neat (if it's cold) or on the rocks (if it's not). I also like JD for shots. Recently, I've taken a liking to vodka and cranberry juice.

I will never drink meade again. One tiny glass gave me a killer headache. I don't really like beer either. I've had Bud Light (tastes like piss) King Cobra (40oz, tasted okay) and Keystone light (not as bad as BL, but I only had two cans).

I need to drink more.

biznatch 07-25-2009 08:52 AM

I like Jack Daniels too. A lot. Any night that starts off with a big bottle of Jack is gonna be a good one, followed by a less-than-good morning.

Also, El Jimador tequila is amazing.

levite 07-26-2009 12:10 AM

God, I forgot about mead!

If any of you have the chance, mead is easy to make at home-- you just need a lot of honey, water, and some champagne yeast (available at a winemakers shop, or online from many places-- not expensive), and a big sealed container. Nothing beats homemade mead: it's sweet, but not unpleasantly so, light, but not too light to be a good drink, and it will go well with anything.

Sometimes you can find bottled mead at specialty stores or Whole Foods, even. But it's a pretty pale reflection of the real thing.

Great stuff, mead. I love it.

CinnamonGirl 07-26-2009 12:20 AM

mmmmmm....mead. Just one more month (well, and a few days) til Renn Fest! :D

little_tippler 07-26-2009 03:21 AM

I have a lot of favourites.

In my teens I used to love Smirnoff Mule - then they stopped selling it here in most places. But I order a vodka and ginger ale with a slice of lime and it tastes pretty similar!

http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/image...4_smirmule.jpg

I like how it's mild and I love that it comes in a bottle you can carry with you on the dance floor, as opposed to a full tall glass that spills everywhere if you do that.

These days I often order a strawberry margarita, since I got braces, no fizzy drinks are advised! These are very more-ish.

http://www.mixshakeandpour.com/image...aritaClose.jpg

I also love the staple drink for summer, at least out here - Caipirinha!

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_yxbH5iHFbV...aipirinha1.jpg

I also love straight whisky, any one of these is heaven. Straight up, no ice. I also approve of Balvenie Single Malt, that I've seen in this thread already. That is lovely.

http://www.thegreenwellystop.co.uk/w...remelyrare.jpg

http://www.beveragewarehouse.com/ima...ducts/6086.gif

Some good port is also a favoured drink for me.

Finally, for shots, I like something a bartender once made me and which I always order now. It's a great shot because it's mildly sweet, spiced, and goes down smoothly. It's a mix of triple sec, cinnamon, and a little lime juice. Heaven!

http://us.monin.com/Editor/assets/pr...Triple-Sec.jpg

JMacman 07-26-2009 01:09 PM

I drink Canadian Club and Squirt whenever possible. It's a great-tasting drink no matter how strong you make it. I also enjoy making my own spin on a Manhattan. I mix Canadian Club and Sweet Vermouth 1:1 with a large splash of grenadine and 3 cherries. The whole thing over ice. This drink is a sipper so take your time. The prize is at the bottom of the glass... if you know what I mean. Beer it cool too. I usually drink MGD or Miller Lite, but I have been known to sneak an occasional 6er or Smithwick's or Sam Adams.

I told myself to never touch Wild Turkey ever again-I puked all night the last time I drank some.

Telluride 07-26-2009 02:04 PM

Favorite drink: margaritas.

Least favorite: Guinness. That shit is nasty.

Cranberry and Vodka with lime.

Can't go wrong with that.

Punk.of.Ages 07-26-2009 02:49 PM

I'm not too picky, but if I have my choice:

http://www.bartonbrands.com/canhost/largeprodshot.jpg

I like my Canadian Host either straight or half and half with cola.

http://badservo.com/external_links/2007gift/sj.jpg

Sailor Jerry with cola.

http://images.send.com/103365_big.jpg

I love me a 7'n'7.

I still owe somebody a night of 77 7'n'7s...

My two favorite beers.

The only things I absolutely will not drink is Jagermeister and Tequila.

I like to marinade steaks in tequila though.

Coastey 07-26-2009 04:14 PM

Tangueray and tonic has accompanied me through many a cocktail party. As long as you act halfway sober, no one usually knows how many you've had.

CinnamonGirl 07-26-2009 06:45 PM

How can your two favorite beers be PBR and Guinness?

Punk.of.Ages 07-26-2009 06:49 PM

PBR's cheap and tasty. Guinness is thick and yummy, but a bit pricey.

It really depends on how much money I have and what kind of beer I feel like drinking...

squeeeb 07-26-2009 06:51 PM

other than wine...

B-52's are the SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i know they are supposed to be a shot, but i mix them up in a pint glass. is that wrong?

CinnamonGirl 07-26-2009 06:52 PM

Ah. That makes sense. Just sounded odd...very different ends of the spectrum, there. I have to admit, though, if you're gonna go cheap, it might as well be PBR.

roachboy 07-26-2009 07:13 PM

depends on the situation and time of year. except in summer, i am also a big fan of single malts. islays in particular. some of them have been featured in lovely images above.

red wines from burgundy. malbecs when they're like red wines from burgundy.

beer:
my staple beverage here is ipswich ale and cape ann brewery's navigator.
when i can find them on tap, though, my favorites are trappist ales.
and la duchesse de bourgogne.
and st bernadus abt 12
and la chouffe
all belgians.
o yeah, and red stripe. summer beer. totally seasonal. yes yes.

a perfect makers mark manhattan is a fine fine thing (bitter as opposed to sweet vermouth.)
and a well-made martini.
and sometimes a bombay and perrier.

but these not so often any more.

o and la veuve cliquot champagne. yum.

Sailor Jerry is the SHIT. When I hit my limit with Captain I'll go on a Sailor Jerry kick. Nobody but me like it.

Punk.of.Ages 07-26-2009 07:16 PM

Fuck the captain...

Sailor Jerry is the same price and 11% more alcohol. Plus, it tastes better.

MSD 07-27-2009 10:26 AM

What don't I like?
Vodka. People who who say it has no taste have no taste buds. Cheap vodka tastes like rubbing alcohol, and expensive vodka tastes like rubbing alcohol with less aftertaste. Flavored stuff like Smirnoff grape and watermelon are tolerable, though.

Peppermint schnapps. I hate peppermint. I once had a Screaming Nazi (Jager and Rumple Minze) on the house, which for some reason was in a pint glass instead of a shot or tumbler. I took an hour, but I finished the fucker.

Beer:

Just to keep around or for cheap stuff:
Coors light. Refreshing served near freezing, not many calories, not enough alcohol to get me anywhere near drunk unless I shotgun 8 of them in a row on an empty stomach, but I can't drink milk, I don't like most soda, and tap water tastes like dirt. It's not so much beer as water plus.

Schaefer. $6/12? Yes, please.

Gennesee Cream ale at $15/30.

Fosters at $2/can, Their Premium Ale isn't bad, either.

When I want a buzz cheap:
Steel reserve. A 24oz can is like drinking 4 Coors Lights at once, tastes tolerable, and has 8.1% abv.
This past week, I discovered Joose brand energy drinks, which are 9.0% or 9.9% abv

When I want a few of something that tastes good:
Magic Hat varieties, especially #9, pretty much any Sam Adams, Bass, Newcastle, Guinness, Molson Canadian, Brooklyn Lager, Saranac varieties, probably more I'm forgetting now.

When I have some money to spend:
Rogue Dead Guy Ale is probably my favorite beer ever. Seriously, try it. Rogue Shakespeare Stout and Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout are great stouts for people who like Guinness and want to expand their taste. Whatever Dogfish Head is making during any given season, plus 60 minute and 90 minute IPAs. Chimay Grand Reserve. Sam Adams Imperials. Innis & Gunn.

I'll try pretty much anything on the wall of singles and 4 packs at least once if I have some cash to spend.

Wine: Red, please. Cabernets are good enough this year that even a $8 1.5L bottle is good. I love me some cabernet sauvignon.

Liquor:
Long Island Iced Tea is my drink of choice. Especially at the local bars where they know me and use the good stuff.

Tequila. Straight tequila or tequila sunrises, and pretty much anything with tequila in it.
Manhattans. Need I say more?

Rum and diet (gets you drunker than rum and Coke but doesn't last as long.) The important variety is Sailor Jerry's and Cherry Coke Zero.

Jager and Jager bombs

Whiskey. Ilike whiskey. I also have a bit of a story to tell you.

Anyone try Evan Williams Tennessee Bourbon? Yeah, it's that stuff a shelf or two down from Jack, in a nearly identical square bottle with a black label. You've probably noticed it and thought of it as a knockoff of Jack, but you're wrong. Jack Daniels is the knockoff. Evan Williams brewery was founded in 1783 in Bourbon County, Kentucky. Their product was packaged pretty much as it is today. Jack Daniels? Founded 1866 if you believe what they tell you, historians put it at more like ten years later.

There was a big legal storm about labeling Bourbon in the US, much like the nitpicky restrictions you see on wine labeling these days. What was bourbon? Single distilled sour mash aged and bottled in Bourbon County, KY? Jack Daniel realized in those days that the average bourbon drinker wasn't the type to give a shit about any of that, the average bourbon drinker was an illiterate farmer. Jack made the wise business decision of setting up business in (Moore County, TN) he felt like it, came up with something easy and cheap to make that approximated the taste of bourbon, and put it in a square bottle with a black label that looked like what the average bourbon drinker was already buying. Jack Daniels is the real knockoff, but it's now the number 1 in the US, and who can argue with that? Drink whichever you like, just don't think Evan ripped off Jack.

Guinness isn't the opposite end of the spectrum. It's a very basic stout that you can get anywhere, but nothing particularly special as far as stouts go. More of a high school/college faux beer snob drink (I used to be one of those people) than a masterpiece. Now 20 people will jump down my throat for not worshiping Guinness, but I stand by what I said.

CinnamonGirl 07-27-2009 10:52 AM

Well, I meant opposite in that one is ridiculously light, the other is thick and dark.

I'm definitely curious about the Shakespeare Stout now... I'll have to check that out soon.

Bodyhammer86 07-27-2009 01:11 PM

I drink mostly microbrewed beer and I also like a few American "premium" brands like Killian's Irish Red, Blue Moon, Amber Bock, and so on as well when I can't get ahold of the microbrewed stuff. Of course, I like a few imported beers such as Smithwick, Bass, and Newcastle also.

Microbrews I like:
Three Floyd's Brewing Company (Robert the Bruce and the Pride and Joy ales)
New Belgium Brewing Company (Fat Tire Amber ale)
Magic Hat Brewing Company (#9 Not Quite Pale ale)
Brugge Tripel Del Ripple and Black Ales (brewpub in Indianapolis)
The Ram Buttface Amber ale (Restaurant in Indy)

I like Evan Williams, unless we are talking top shelf whiskey, then it all tastes the same.

After 4 shots you don't taste it anyway.

Whiskey snobs, don't give me shit, the bottom 3 shelfs of the Whiskey isle tastes the same.

Punk.of.Ages 07-27-2009 01:42 PM

Evan Williams is cheap as fuck here! It's what we get if we want bourbon.

Well, that or Ancient Age. sometimes it's cheaper.

LordEden 07-27-2009 01:46 PM

We did that, George Dickle, JD or Evan. Then my friend got real poor like and we started drinking LTD Canadian whiskey and the horrible of the horrible; Canadian Hunter. Oh god did those two suck.

I M O , Scotch is one of the most disgusting things I've ever put in my mouth , and I've had some crazy shit in my mouth . . . CAP'T (white) AND PEPSI , with as much ice as the glass will hold please , and thank you . . .

a COLD Bud on a hot sweaty day is pretty good as well , but beer gives me a wicked headache , every time . . .

is delicious! Orange Blossom Cream Ale

Martian 07-28-2009 12:19 PM

I drink very rarely. I do, however, have a nice Merlot in the fridge right now that I've been enjoying. I'll likely have a glass once a week or so until the bottle empties, and not drink again until I come across something else tasty through luck or happenstance.

I've been very occasionally known to order a beer when out with friends. It's rare enough to be remarkable. I'll generally go for the best ale on tap, although depending on where I happen to be that might not necessarily be anything particularly noteworthy.

My attitude toward drinking is that I do it seldom enough that when I do I might as well go for the best available to me.

grumpyolddude 07-28-2009 04:31 PM

I prefer beer with some color and body. Smithwick's and Newcastle are my favorites, although I'll never pass on a Guiness or Murphy's stout. I really enjoy trying new microbrews, when I have the chance.

Blue Moon and Corona drinkers won't have to fight me for their fair share. I think that any beer that needs fruit to be palatable is to be avoided. If there's a better use for a slice of lime than in an ice-cold vodka and tonic (I prefer Stoli, Grey Goose or Skyy), I've yet to find it (sorry, guccilvr, Ketel One doesn't do it for me).

I don't enjoy much dark liquor, except an occasional shot of a smooth whiskey. Even the expensive scotch is wasted on me.

I can't tolerate schnapps or Southern Comfort. They both engage my gag reflex... can't even swallow them!

If you just want to hang out and drink beer all night, though, Labatt Blue or Molson Canadian will do just fine... Detroit Lager is pretty good, too!

MonicaCo 07-29-2009 07:51 AM

I don't drink but if I do, I enjoy a Cuba Libre or a Whiskey Sour.

Anyone who likes beer will probably find something they really like among Rogue's lineup. I have a ~400 page beer review book from the mid '90s that rated Shakespeare Stout highest, so I tried that Dead Guy Ale when I saw them. My mom picked me up a bottle of Imperial Pilsener a few years ago, which came in a clay crock bottle and cost around $15 for 2 pints. Great stuff, but I never saw it in a store again.

Is she the important part?

Yes, but Dead Guy Ale and Sailor Jerry with Cherry Coke Zero were the parts I bolded.

I had to look over it a few times to find it again. Bold doesn't do a lot of good with the Insignia theme.

Substitute 151 for lower proof rum in the Cuba Libre and you have a Cuban Missile Crisis!

After dinner, Mcallan Fine Oak 12y, or Balvenie Roasted Malt 14y

For during a movie or a good conversation: Tyrconnel port cask finish or Talisker 10y depending

During hot weather, nothing beats a good, fresh lager though

or maybe a caipirinha.

Where would I be without alcohol

A friend of mine got me hooked on scotch.
But patron is always nice.

Then again my drinks during my stag were 151 and absinthe...

not a fan of the beer though

i have a story about too much gin, a pick-up truck, and a bale of barbed wire, but that's for another time...

When I read this, I was thinking to myself, was there someone named Phil there when we had the awful time with the barbed wire, and the guy in the pick=up truck wasn't much help.
And we had all been drinking Boodles, oodles of Boodles!

PonyPotato 08-11-2009 01:43 AM

My favorite? Pineapple juice and coconut rum. Tastes extremely yummy, I can drink a lot of them.

When I go out, I usually get margaritas or mojitos.

At home, I drink Woodchuck. The Amber version.

vainღ♥♡jane 08-11-2009 07:25 PM

i love gin. omg. its soo good and it really makes me feel... different lol. and i like grape-kiwi lime coolers when i'm eating spaghetti. ya i know.

Atreides88 08-11-2009 09:22 PM

I love any and all beer, except for fat tire. I abhor clear liquor by itself -- Must be mixed -- except for vodka. When it comes to mixed drinks I'm partial to a good mojito or an old fashioned. When it comes to straight liquor I drink anejo/reposado tequila, whisky, scotch, or spiced rum. Right now, this happens to be my go-to rum:

My fav... Depends on the night. I'll do anything from cheap beer to Guinness to whiskey to Screwdrivers to wine to... Okay... I'm a drunk... you all knew that.

julie0187 09-02-2009 10:45 AM

NO jager or red bull. I drink almost everything else. Beer, wine, vodka, gin, rum, or tequila. Some of my favs are gin and pinnapple, vodka and cran, princess whip, lemon drop shots, blowjob shots and straight up tequila.

Until about a year ago, I had never even heard of it. It's not nearly as widely available as Captain Morgan or Bacardi, and doesn't have the advertising.

One of my favourite rum drinks is now the Cuba Libre. It's not just a rum & coke...it's a Cuba Libre: Cuban rum and Tu-Kola, a cola widely produced in Cuba. The cola has less sodium and sugar than Coke and so the rum isn't overpowered. Oh, and it helps that what appears to be a standard Cuba Libre in Cuba would be considered a double in North America. So that helps too.

I drank an average of six or so a day while I was there.

That said, the rum flows in Cuba as though it were coffee or soda, yet I don't recall seeing any spiced rum at all.

Strange Famous 09-06-2009 09:44 AM

kronenberg, or stella

in terms of girls drinks I quite like a mojito

That's interesting. I always viewed the mojito as unisex.

mandy 09-10-2009 03:52 AM

1. Jack and lime ( the first drink healer ever bought me)
2. Vodka and Redbull (My preferred drink of choice these days, but only if the pocket allows, cos its DAMN expensive)
3. Southern Comfort and Appletiser (Also a very pricey drink but like an angel on your tongue) :)

ametc 09-10-2009 10:26 AM

LOVE: 99 bananas, Sauza Gold, disaronno, Patron, VODKA

HATE: Whiskey and gin. They make me hot and angry. >_<

stevie667 09-10-2009 02:54 PM

Port. Taylors. Vintage.

Done.

mykockle 09-10-2009 05:45 PM

Lets see... Beer: Newcastle

Spirits: Captain and Ginger

Other: A Snakebite, sometimes called a Black Velvet. Which is made like a black and tan, but instead of the tan (Bass) you use a nice strong cider (preferably Strong Bow). Real Guinness lovers would frown and call me horrible names, but I loves it!

Yay!

I can't handle Jager or Goldschlager anymore..... Insta'sick!

Duskwynd 09-11-2009 07:41 PM

I'm not a big drinker and maybe have one or two a month these days but my favs are as follows:

Beer - I'm more of a Guinness fan though I have found a local beer from a Toronto micro brewery called "Mill Street Organic" which is simply marvellous
Wine - Lately I've been partial to fruit wines - I've found this incredible Black Currant Ice Wine which is fantastic and the Black Currant Port from the same winery....*sigh*
Mixed Drink - Raspberry Mojitos
Liquor - *sigh* I've recently discovered the joys of single malt scotch...my pocket book hates me now.

Blessings!
Duskwynd

legolas 09-12-2009 09:58 AM

good old jager bombs for me with coors lights to sip on. as for never again... not sure that exists

Grasshopper Green 09-13-2009 12:08 PM

My favorite drinks are margaritas and my dad's whiskey sours. I don't drink whiskey sours unless my dad makes them. If I'm drinking straight liquor, I go for tequila - gold, not silver. My favorites are Don Eduardo or Corzo. When I'm drinking cheaply I prefer vodka with orange (or a citrus if orange isn't available) soda. I like red wine, but not white. I don't really have a favorite, but I did have a fantastic Spanish wine at my dad's house recently. I wish I could remember the name.

I don't drink beer. Ever. I refuse to drink anything containing RedBull, Jagermeister, or melon flavored schnapps. Gross.

I don't really get drunk anymore - the next day just isn't worth it.

I have to go back a LONG ways, but I did love apricot brandy (any brand).

Oh, and beer... but they didn't have nearly the selection back then they have today. (I'm going to take up drinking again as a bad habit when I retire).

sapiens 10-18-2009 03:35 PM

Single malt scotch. Preferably something like Laphroaig, but I like other non-Islay scotches too. I drink scotch maybe 3 times a year.

BadNick 10-18-2009 03:53 PM

ice, half a glass or a tad more of Myers "Original Dark" rum, top off with ginger ale, piece of lime

ice, half a glass or a tad more of Cuervo Gold or better tequila, top off with 7 up, piece of lemon

Crown Royal on the rocks

a good single malt scotch

A couple times a year I try Stella to see why it's so popular and I continue to find it musky and offensive tasting, both bottles and on tap.

spindles 10-18-2009 03:56 PM

Beer - not too fussy, but prefer a cold lager on a hot day, but am also partial to dark ales.
Wine - red, I'm usually drinking Shiraz or Cab Sauv; white - Sauvignon Blanc (from NZ, Tasmania or the bottom of WA)
Liquor - Scotch or Irish Whiskey - I'm enjoying the Jameson's Irish I have on the cupboard atm.

Don't really avoid anything, but I'm not a fan of Red Bull, so that's out as a mixer.
