Celebrity Look-alikes
 

I am not certain if this is a topic I have seen around the forum in the past three years, but if it was, I am vaguely unaware of it. I do know there is a derivative of it in portraits, so that may be where my mind is wandering.

With that little thinking bubble aside, I found this feature displayed on Yahoo!, and now I would like to get some different takes on "who looks like whom", perhaps why you think so, and if you followed the link above, which of those pairings do you disagree with. I only made it image 23, (wow, 110 images! Some journalist had mountains of free time to compile this list) but I also thought it to be the funniest. Why, muppets are always funny!



My own take is that I mix up Dustin Hoffman and Sean Penn regularly, not because I can't tell them apart, but because my mind likes to compartmentalize everything, and they look relatively-akin, I noticed them as actors at the same time, so I just attributed the duo as "Dustin Hoffpenn".

It's funny that the article (I don't know what else to call it, but article doesn't seem right) mentions Tom Sizemore, because I just recently saw a gangster film with Christian Slater and Dempsey, and the first thing I thought when catching sight of Chris Penn was "Wow! I didn't know Sizemore was in this feature as well...but, something about his face is amiss somehow...". I had to look up the film just to find the credits, and instead i found Penn's name; and then I also remembered that I mistook his role in Rush Hour for Sizemore as well.

And a last one, I confuse Kristen Cavalierri(sp?) and Lauren Conrad alot. I only know them by name, and I am not exactly sure where either got their fame, though I can make an educated guess and say MTV. It's just their names I get confused by; when someone mentions either one, I mention the other. And the person goes "No. What does that have to do with anything?" and they look at me funny. I just associate both names to either girl at the same time when I hear them brought up in discussion, but if I were to see thier pictures, my reaction would be "Who is that?".

So, who do you mistake for another, semi-famous-wise? Or you could also talk about the facial similarities in celebrities as well--offer your own or just name one from the recent slideshow you saw.

I haven't been though the slideshow yet, but my first thought was Matthew Broderick and Michael J. Fox. I think that they played essentially the same characters. Especially with MJF in "Secret of My Success", and MB in the Broadway revival of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying".

I've been told that I look a little bit like Seth McFarlane...

Darn, they just keep adding misc. people comparisons... the one I alluded to above is now comparison #25: Danny DeVito and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew...

I stand strong on the theory that our little_tippler has a distinct resemblance to Zoey Deschanel.

EDIT: As I was typing this I forgot the movie Zoey showed up in and I don't know her name off the top of my head so a google search of "movie where guy doesn't move out of parents house" gave me a third result of failure to launch. I love google that I have changed my new home screen to iGoogle. MLIA.

EDIT: Home page is still iGoogle and my life is still awesome.

Like a lot of comparisons, it looks like they grabbed pictures of people from the same angle with the same expression, and occasionally a facial feature or two that looks alike.

As for my contribution: without looking at the box or credits, I will never be able to tell you whether the funny black guy in the movie I'm watching is Martin Lawrence or Eddie Murphy.

Some of them are a bit ropey, but there's a few in there that I've thought of in the past. Robert Redford/Brad Pitt, Keira Knightley/Natalie Portman are good examples. Brad Pitt and Benicio Del Toro are in there too, I've never been able to see that one myself, but my Mum kept getting them mixed up when they were both in Snatch (that sounds so wrong).

Over this past year of contemplation with this topic still rattling around in the back of my mind, I've acquired a few more of these. Some illustrated, some not.

Wandering preface over, I'll admit that I routinely, and to my cultural mind's dismay, cannot tell the difference between James Caan and Robert Duvall 100% of the time (lately, though, Robert Redford is creeping into this sublimation of "is that who I think it is - in this film?" ; doesn't matter young, old, if I've seen this film two dozen times before or not, the confusion will not allay itself).
