leprechaun questions
why are there no female leprechauns? how do you get leprechauns if there are no females to give birth to them? if there are females, where the hell are they?
if it's your job to guard a pot of gold, why would you have a big ass rainbow that you can see for miles showing you the location of your secret hidden treasure? do they all have beards? are they like little taliban, you gotta have a beard to be a true leprechaun? if you are a clean shaven leprechaun are you suspect and pushed out of the group?

Leprechauns are a type of fairy. Therefore, the answer to all of your questions is that they're magical.
There are no female leprechauns because if they were female they wouldn't be leprechauns. They'd be some other type of fairy. A pixie, maybe. I don't know, I'm not up on my folklore. As for the gold, leprechauns are said to be pranksters. Have you ever tried to follow a rainbow to it's end? Seems like a great way to send a lot of people on a wild chase for nothing to me. I liked the way Neil Gaiman portrayed his leprechaun in American Gods.

I have no explanation why. It just is.
It's like how there are only female harpies and sirens. Yeah, they're magical.
