Refrigerator.
Chairs.
Sofa.
Computer.
Then again, your home would feel pretty bare after getting rid of those things.

I dunno exactly but everyone I know has that one guitar lying around collecting dust that they tried to learn how to play on in their teens (cause chicks dig guitarists ofc.).

Other stuff might be used books but I'm not sure if there is much value selling them on.

Depends on what they are. Selling lots of paperbacks (by lot I mean a grouping, as on Ebay selling individual paperbacks is pointless) will not bring in a whole lot of cash. Reselling college textbooks is good money, especially if you have recent textbooks in good condition. You can charge just below whatever a college bookstore would charge, which is usually a nice chunk of change, and certainly better than whatever you would get reselling it to the bookstore.

Personally, I have a hard time parting with some of my textbooks.

The harder task is finally admitting to yourself that your youth is over and that you're never going to properly learn how to play a guitar.

(I understand that not everyone has one of these but I'd be happy to let her go for around $750,000)

Goddammit, man, you just fucked my day up. I will now spend the rest of it trying to grab what little youth I have left, to sparingly use it during the rest of my days. I think I just hid the mid twenties crisis, if there is such a thing.

Hey, back to OP: A keyboard is also something people often seem to have, from piano lessons from way back. Some people prefer not to buy a full piano, so seel them your own compact solution, that you probably don't use.
Other things, that might work for me. Video games controllers, from old consoles, like the n64, the SNES, the original XBox. Those old games, maybe find a couple of games that are still in high demand. I just found my copy of LoZ: Link to the past, and Ocarina of Time, I'm thinking they might still have value. Now I need to figure out whether I can separate myself from this game.

Also, old mp3 players, monitors you no longer use (LCD only, craigslist is flooded with free CRTs). Maybe clothes, if they're in good enough condition (I'd say jackets, or coats, things that have functional value).
Speakers, stereos, car stereos, CDs you may have ripped to mp3, old vinyls, hard to find books, old hard drives, computer parts, ram, PSUs, golf clubs, bikes, helmets, DVDs.
Chargers for things you no longer use, cell phones.
I'm sure you could find some good stuff, some people make a business out of going to flea markets, looking for dirt cheap stuff, and ebaying it. SO unless it's complete junk, someone's junk is someone else's treasure.

Try Craig's List also if they don't sell on eBay. I can't believe the shit that sells on there, but it does sell.

I'm having that exact same problem, times will have to be dire indeed before I start parting with my student literature.

Though for those that aren't all that attached to theirs, Snowy's idea does have very good merit. Student's are always trying to get things just one buck cheaper and a textbook, even though it might be an earlier edition than in their list, is highly sought after.

Rumor has it that's illegal.

Dunno, the cops where I live are all over Craigslist personals. Vice dudes joke about busting cash-for-sex arrangements all the time in the "no strings attached" arena. Which is annoying because I've been kinda lonely the last couple of weekends and I'm looking to be mugged by a NSA "date."

...

I think everybody has some useless trinket from a squillion years ago that someone will buy for a ludicrous amount of green on E-Bay. In particular, I'm thinking about all the mint condition 3.75" GI Joes I have in a tacklebox somewhere. They still have their thumbs... paint is perfect. Cha-CHING.

That reminds me, I have a copy of The Little Mermaid with the cock-tower on the front. I wonder if that's worth anything.

A "lot" of crafting supplies from your old hobby. Especially if everything in the lot is for a specific craft/hobby. Such as candlemaking, scrapbooking, etc.

I like this one better than the coathangers-comment. Nice one BoR

Everyone is somewhat a vague term:

Are you living at home with parents,

living on your own

living with a SO

living with kids

...

You tend to collect all sorts of things over the years, might help to know exactly in what "phase" you are at the moment

I'd think you might make more money selling stuff that NOT everybody has though?

The aimlessness phase is killing me. I still don't know who I am, so damn fucking strange. Also, I don't wanna be those serious people with Blackberries I see everyday on the train.
And it's not teenage angst, I just don't wanna be them, and boring. It's fear.

Back to topic, Zippo lighters, special edition whatevers, things that are/were of limited production.
But please, don't ebay sex toys, lest they be new, sealed in box.
