So...what'd you get this year??

We open our presents on christmas eve, so I'm gonna start this off :)

I got a blackberry curve 8310
Screen protectors for said curve
Garmin 260W GPS
Screen protector I can cut to match it
A new smith and wesson pocket knife (very nice, all black)
A new clip-on boxcutter and multitool (need these for work)
Some cash for this:
Newegg.com - Western Digital VelociRaptor WD1500HLFS 150GB 10000 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive (bare drive) - Internal Hard Drives
and this:
Newegg.com - Kingston 8GB Micro SDHC Mobility Multi Kit Model MBLY/8GB - Flash Memory

and lots of other cool crap like habanero salsa, other salsas, deer sausage etc.

I bought my wife a bluetooth headset for her ipod and an adapter to talk to said headset, and we got mom and dad a satellite TV for 8 months.

We all made out like bandits :D

Daniel_ 12-25-2008 12:19 AM

Good for you Luce.

We haven't had presents yet (it's 8am and I'm only on the PC to sync my Christmas playlist), but there's at least one thing under the tree with my name on it, and I'm looking forward to it.

dlish 12-25-2008 12:26 AM

since we dont really celebrate xmas within our family, but we had a xmas dinner with some friends last night.

i got a polo shirt , a hat and some shorts.

m0rpheus 12-25-2008 01:59 AM

Not much mainly due to us asking for cash from everyone because we have a leak in our roof and we're going to have to get it fixed in the spring.
So socks, a couple of shirts and the GF got me Absolute Sandman volume 4.

Daniel_ 12-25-2008 04:42 AM

Present opening has now taken place.

I received money and vouchers for Amazon, iTunes store, Marks & Spencer.

I got some chocolate, a couple of books, a new electric razor, some adult entertainment items (;)) and lego.

Well, I say I got lego. My daughter thinks it's hers, but we all know who really got it. :D

ngdawg 12-25-2008 06:57 AM

A fleece sweater, potholders(Yes, I did ask for those as the one I have are an embarrasment), socks, gloves and a digital frame.
Got my son a vioin and for someone that doesn't know how to play, he hasn't squealed it yet :D
We got our daughter a 120G iPod and she's thrilled.
Got the spouse a GPS-he's probably out playing with it now. Also got him a snow shovel(he wanted a new one). Ever try to wrap a shovel?
Edit: oops! forgot-I got these boot slippers I'd seen at Old Navy-soooo comfy!

Bear Cub 12-25-2008 07:27 AM

My parents sent me a crock pot. Now I just need to figure out how to cook.

highthief 12-25-2008 07:28 AM

A Liverpool jersey (duh!), some books, chocolate, and a gift card for Chapters.

Got the wife concert tickets, some gear from Victoria's Secret, some books, and some running apparel.

The kid? She's only halfway through and she's spoiled already. Lots of Barbie and Disney stuff. Still presents from all the aunts and uncles to come.

gump 12-25-2008 07:37 AM

Good morning everybody Merry Christmas. We opened gifts last night but Santa came early this morning for the little ones. They (my sister's kids; boy 3 and girl 2) are having a big Christmas. I did get a rc helicopter from the folks thats pretty fun. I already crashed it and broke 3 sets of wings. Well hope everyone has a great day!

Crock pots are easy, and you'll appreciate it once you figure out some good dishes. I'm sure there are quite a few crock pot recipes here on TFP.

My mom sent me some kitchen stuff I needed - a mixer, a scale, fruit basket with banana hook, spice rack, and mug tree. I also got a few books (including a textbook, haha, I'm such a nerd) and a bunch of muppet movies - including the Muppet Christmas Carol, which I MUST watch today.

I had Christmas Eve dinner with the barn owner and her in-laws last night, and I'm having brunch with her and her family today. Crompsin has been doing his thing with his family.

ShaniFaye 12-25-2008 08:08 AM

Dave and I dont exchange gifts, we take a new years trip instead, so our gift starts next Wednesday :p

From my inlaws I got a mantle clock (been wanting one for years) and lots of cash :) We go to my parents tomorrow

Plan9 12-25-2008 08:09 AM

Due to budget constraints... all I got this year was the promise of life for another year.

LoganSnake 12-25-2008 08:12 AM

We don't exchange presents until New Year, but I already know what my presents are from the immediate family and gf.

White DKNY sweater
HID Xenon Conversion kit for my car
Batman Begins and The Dark Knight on Blu Ray

Might be more on New Year from the relatives.

mixedmedia 12-25-2008 09:20 AM

The two most fantastic daughters on the planet bought me a 120gb iPod.

Not only that, but they completely furnished their little sister's new room for Christmas. The first room she has ever had of her own.

My life is a total fuck-up in so many ways, but I can say with total certainty that I did at least two things right.

For that I am thankful.

snowy 12-25-2008 09:39 AM

I got a sweet pair of North Face trail shoes, a pair of Patagonia Capilene long underwear (my gift to myself), some money, a shopping tote, and a gift card. There will probably be more, as there will be a few gifts exchanged at dinner this afternoon. I won't be seeing my parents this Christmas as my mother is currently in a hip-to-toe leg cast, but they'll come down at spring break and Mom will bring me lots of silly little gifts. There will be clothes, a calendar about Paris, and a cookbook, most likely.

Because of budgetary restraints, Christmas this year was pretty tiny. But we'll be continuing another tradition, where we go out for a big fancy dinner at a nice restaurant in town, and go a little crazy. It's the one time a year we leave our poor college student selves at home!

noodle 12-25-2008 09:39 AM

I got the bigger crockpot that I actually asked for.
It's the first year that we did actual gifts ourselves.
I got him a flask and an hour massage.

Fake Christmas with the family is Jan 31 this year. :)

filtherton 12-25-2008 10:07 AM

I got me some clothes, some books, perhaps an xbox live gold membership, some sort of weird plastic tube for cooking pasta, a family membership to the YMCA, a couple of gift cards, a new laptop to replace the one that I had that just pooped out on me, and my daughter got me and the lady a candle.

It was a nice haul.

grumpyolddude 12-25-2008 10:55 AM

QW and I have been together so long, Christmas gifts are anti-climactic.
Technically, we gave ourselves a new Vaio laptop, an HD tv, a new sewing machine... all stuff we would have acquired, Christmas or not.
My favorite gift, so far though, is my new "I'm Bringing Grumpy Back!" tshirt with the picture of my favorite dwarf (should I be calling him a "little person?") on it! Thanks, kids!
Mostly, we give each other a lot of love. That's my wish for each of you!

Anxst 12-25-2008 12:39 PM

Times were tight this year, so we did small but awesome gifts this year. I got a new bodhran (I haven't played one in years) and a tipper, and a copy of Grand Conspiracy by Janny Wurts (only book in a series I was missing). My father in law gave me $100.00, an insane amount of spending cash to me as things stand. He made me promise not to spend it on bills, so I might buy Little Big Planet, and maybe a new pair of sneakers. Mine are wearing out.

Other than that, a lot of fun time together. I did a ton of baking this year since we didn't have a lot of cash, and everyone I know pretty much got a loaf of cranberry orange bread and a bunch of cookies from us. People seem amazed, since I've always said I know how to cook, not bake.

I guess the things I give are more interesting to me than the things I got. :) Happy Christmas!

This is such a great idea. Hubby and I only bought each other stocking stuffers this year because of a tight budget, and I really didn't miss the actual gifts. I'd much rather take a trip in the future instead of buying each other stuff.

We got money from my mother in law and my dad. MIL's money helped pay for hubby's snazzy new glasses, and my dad's money will be going towards any car repairs needed to pass our safety inspection next month. Should the car pass without any issues, we want a new bedspread. My sister burned me some CDs and bought us both booze, and her hubby (they are separated) bought us a pretty vase. All in all, our Christmas was full of less stuff than in years past, but I don't mind. In fact, it was rather refreshing.

ryfo 12-25-2008 02:28 PM

Some new tools for me and my SO made me a calendar with photos of all our four legged kids on each month. Cool. I got her a new leather wallet with heaps of space and card slots...she was always saying her old one was too small. And some chocolate in a stocking, even tho she watches what she eats its a tradition for her to recieve a choc stocking.

ramone 12-25-2008 04:48 PM

I got a rock.

Charlatan 12-25-2008 07:00 PM

I got tickets to see Stars when they come to town in January... it's not everyday that bands I actually like come here.

I also got the new suitcase I wanted, some socks, a shirt and the Neal Stevenson book.

Tully Mars 12-25-2008 07:36 PM

I got exactly what I wanted. Nothing. But I got to spend yesterday passing out food baskets (looked a lot like totes from Wal-Mart) and toys to families that would likely gotten nothing. A group of us down here decided to get together and not buy anything for each other and put money towards helping some of the less fortunate. It was a very moving day. Each house we went to, over 100, got a box with staples such as rice, beans, cooking oil etc... and every kid got a stocking, small toys and lots of candy. Some (20%) of the them had a token and those kids won toys. At each house the mother came out to receive the food box. As I gave one lady the box I could see her shaking and she started to cry. It was really moving, but I'm a sap.

Today the entire group of us went out to a restaurant by Uxmal. About a two hour drive but the food and company was well worth the drive. We ate and made plans to repeat yesterday in the spring sometime. I'd like to do it four times a years. Where's about 25 of us and for a few hundred bucks each we can hopefully make a difference, even if it's small. There's also talk of adopting a family and helping them turn their tar paper house into something made of cement blocks. There also plans to get each kid a toy next year. Heart breaking to see someones brother or sister get a gift and them not. I'm really encouraged, one of the best Christmases ever in my book.

Manic_Skafe 12-25-2008 08:17 PM

5 day cruise from Miami to Grand Cayman, and Cozumel.
Plane tickets to and from the cruise.
Lots of underwear (oddly from my bro's mother in-law)
A distressed blazer and bottle of cologne.
A huge bottle of rum.

And just like every other yearm I didn't get anyone anything. I still have to go shopping for the misses...

World's King 12-25-2008 08:33 PM

A bill from Planned Parenthood
Herpes
Juror Duty
A case of Miller Light (All but three were empty)

It's been a good year.

(Okay, so I actually got a custom Denver Nuggets jersey with my last name on the back and the number 81, which is the year I was born. It's all I asked for and wanted.)

laconic1 12-25-2008 08:48 PM

I got the ipod dock/alarm clock I wanted.

Xerxys 12-25-2008 09:40 PM

I wanted a cutting board, I know I said I never furnished my house but I have a FULLY loaded kitchen and no one got me that :( !

I got a sweater from one of my co-workers though.

I spent Christmas with my friend and her family. She gave me a hand purse she had knitted that I was particularly fond of on her etsy site! I also got a package in the mail from my grandma. She pretty much gave me everything on my "list": pajamas, bed sheets, and towels.. yeah, i feel like such a boring grown up but I just moved and they're practical necessities..

LordEden 12-27-2008 02:49 PM

Parents sent me some money for a new computer. Also, lots of work clothes from mom, I needed polo shirts and jeans for the office job. Best friend got my a wooden wall poster of Captain Morgain. It rocks.

thespian86 12-27-2008 02:50 PM

-Some Bose speakers for my iPhone
-An Aaron Rodgers jersey!!!
-Lots of gift cards to survive Toronto (Starbucks, Shoppers, iTunes, etc)
-My computer was fixed! (backstory: I haven't been on TFP in two months because my mac crashed. nothing was recovered)
-And my mother, who is perhaps the biggest sarcastabitch ever, who also happens to have no sentimental bones in her body to speak of, made me a scrapbook (?!?!) of all of my early work in theatre so I can "take it to Inside The Actors Studio" (which was my favorite show as a kid).

-plus lots of other things including a really helpful cash donation from my Father who probably could not afford to give me as much as he did. It was very appreciated.

koolbecky 01-02-2009 04:13 PM

my boyfriend bought me a hip chain with cute little curios on it, yeah we had a row shortly arterwards and now we are no longer together, but hey he let me keep my chain
