This is one of the reasons that I am not so much a fan of automated systems with little human oversight. What happened on Monday to United Airlines should not have or would not have happened if there was normal fact checking going on by human beings. We're curious bunch of organisms, we tend to doubt strange patterns until we verify them as fact, and even then we still don't necessarily believe them, but will go with the flow until we find contrary evidence.

But here, there no double check by the AP... this got passed from system to system. People thinking that their smart and "getting over" on the system, but usually, there is always the exploit, there is always the weakness to the system, and here it is being shown now.

People's retirements, incomes, pensions, all riding on some bots.... seems a bit crazy to me.

What do you think about this? Should there be more safegaurds?

I think, to start, news organizations need to have datelines on their articles. I have Googled a topic many times and found articles that were way past their prime but had no date.

Other than that, I don't know enough about this yet.

I blame Diablo 2. We need to get Blizzard on this.

This is simply a matter of having some human oversight. Bots are great, but only when they're not stealing babies and ending mankind. That means some guy in tech support keeping an eye on things.

There is some oversight. According to Google employees, they can view what's being searched for in real-time at HQ, and can even manually manipulate search results if they want.
