Some of their facial expressions are...off. Maybe that was the style back then.
Other than that, some really nice bodies and faces in that collection.

There's some class there, alright!
Thanks for that look at the past. It strongly reminds me that whatever we think about everything that matters being invented by our own generation, it is clear that everything important always exists in one form or another, and beauty is eternal.

I prefer "Miss Nude Galaxy," hon.
I like me those body shapes, MM. Very sexy. I wonder how they were perceived at the time, though?... were they outcasts of some kind, because of their burlesque dancing?

1. Stripping was much more an act of theater during the burlesque days and their faces are 'emoting.' Some are better actors than others, lol. 2. The 1950's was the heydey of the 'Glamazon.' Many men liked strong, aggressive looking women. Grawr! -----Added 26/8/2008 at 07 : 21 : 20----- Quote:
Then there are others who achieved different types of notereity for their nude modeling and such. Then there's Tana Louise (and others), who was also a very popular fetish model...

well, unfortunately, with the exception of Sultana and Dita von Teese, I'm not too familiar with the new burlesque scene.
Glad you enjoyed them.

You know what hit me when I got to the bottom of the photo set?
I couldn't figure out what I enjoyed the most about it... there wasn't a single fake breast I could spot. It's nice to see female bodies in their un-surgically enhanced state posed attractively with a little left to the imagination. Thanks, MM.

I don't know what that bra Evelyn West is wearing is made out of, but that looks mighty mighty uncomfortable.
The art of burlesque is pretty much gone these days. Keeping things hidden, but not quite so, is viewed differently. I wonder sometimes which way is better. |

I need help. In this thread of photos, there is one of Jan Mavis. She would be in her seventies now. I have been trying to locate Jan for the past six months. I am 84 years old, and must find her before I die to say a special "Thank you" for something that took place in the 1960s before she became a burlesque dancer. If anybody can help me in my search, I'd be everlastingly grateful. Thank you.

Thank you for your response, IdeoFunk. Do you have any duggestions. I'm new at this, but it's very important to me. I must find her before I die, and at 84 years of age, I haven't much time left. I've scoured every people find search list, hve sent mailers to every Mavis (Jan/Janet/Janice/Jane/Janelle,etc) I could find, and have come up empty. Thanks, IdeoFunk

Hi, Dlish:
Thank you for your message. How do you know Jan? My situation goes back to the mid-sixties. I need to contact her to thank her for something that took place before she went into burlesque. It's very important to me (although admittedly, it won't be important to her). I can't tell you why I'm trying to reach her before I die, because it's very personal, and it wouldn't be fair to her for me to discuss it with anybody else. I think that I may have finally found her last night, but I can't be certain. Any help you can give will be deeply appreciated. |

Message for Delish:
I'm a relatively new member and am not yet familiar with where you look to achieve various functions (as in responding to a private message). I want to add a question to the response to your private message to me earlier today re: Jan Mavis. Dlish.....when you bumped into Jan about ten years ago, could you tell if she were a happy woman? I have 2 reasons for trying so hard to locate her Jan for so long. The first: I need to know if she has lived a happy life. second: I want5 her to know that now....forty-five years later....I still want to know. Please respond because it's extrememly important to me that I achieve both these goals. eep thanks, jwrites4u |
