if you won the lottery....

...and you promised the person who sold you the ticket that you would give them $100,000 if you won, would you follow through?

I would. In the grand scheme of things, $100K isn't really going to matter if you are taking home $90 million.

BoCo 06-26-2003 06:39 AM

Yep, I'd keep my promise.

Reese 06-26-2003 06:41 AM

blah, I wouldn't promise them crap.. but if I did do something dumb like that I'd give them the money.. might even fall in love with them like that Nick cage movie :P

Charlatan 06-26-2003 06:54 AM

I wouldn't promose something like that in the first place but if I did I would pay it...

Hell if I had 90 Million I'd .5 to 1 million to some of my closest friends and family. What the hell am I going to do with 90 million that I can't do with 10 or 5?

oscar0308 06-26-2003 07:01 AM

i'd give them the 100K if it was a hell of alot less than that. its free money.. an unepected windfall.. whats a few thou less to keep your self respect?

the few times she plays, my mom always tell me she'll give me a few mill every time she plays powerball. i keep hoping, but it hasnt happened yet.

Sparky 06-26-2003 07:26 AM

If you won $90 million, giving that person $100,000 would only amount to 0.001% of your winnings. A mere drop in the bucket. You could even give that person $1,000,000 and that would still only be 0.01% of what you won. Damn, $90 million is a butt load of money.

SaltPork 06-26-2003 07:40 AM

Every time I buy a ticket for Powerball, it's the same lady and I tell her that if she sells me the winning ticket she gets 100K. I'm secretly hoping she buys herself some new teeth. Those ugly, black, rotting stumps in her face are a little on the nasty side. I know that she'l probably blow it on booze and cigarrettes though.

joshibahn 06-26-2003 07:44 AM

I would probably give 100k to every person in my family, then I would be on Maury Povich four years later crying about being broke....

Watch out.
She may wanna move in if you win.:o

rogue49 06-26-2003 07:53 AM

yep
good karma:)

spectre 06-26-2003 08:20 AM

Yes. If I said I'd do something, I would do everything that I could to keep my word.

Minx 06-26-2003 09:22 AM

If you are going to say you are going to do something then you must follow through. If you have any morals, at all, that is!
I would give it to them and be happy knowing that I made someone's life a whole shit load easier! :)

Mango 06-26-2003 09:42 AM

If I won 90 million I would keep a promise like that. I would also buy a coke with a hundred dollar bill an tell them to keep the change quite often. I

hotzot 06-26-2003 10:49 AM

sure why not

dimbulb 06-26-2003 11:05 AM

its not going to be 90 million. You only get 90 million if you receive it as a stream over 20-30 years. If you opt for the lump sum payment, it's going to be substantially less than 90 million.

and remember to halve that because of taxes.

bender 06-26-2003 11:36 AM

If I had 90 mill. sure why not, but she would have to pick it up.

viveleroi0 06-26-2003 02:05 PM

ditto, its so little $$.

World's King 06-26-2003 02:48 PM

I'd pay up... then jump them behind the store and take it back.

Vyk 06-26-2003 02:48 PM

I would give it to the person. Would be the honorable thing to do. Though, if you won say 12 million and got the "lump sum" that's going to be a large chunk of your change.

duckduck 06-26-2003 06:42 PM

Technically, you win the lottery even if you win like $10 so............I'd want to win at least $100 000 after taxes before I gave it to her ;)

Meridae'n 06-26-2003 07:48 PM

I'd buy a fucken big set of golf clubs...

vermin 06-26-2003 08:37 PM

Gotta keep your word.

How the hell would you spend $90 million? Buy a couple of jets?

mtsgsd 06-27-2003 06:43 AM

Well, if I said it, I'd better be prepared to do it.

PatrickBateman 07-09-2003 11:02 PM

No. I would put the money as a bounty on their head.

meembo 07-09-2003 11:06 PM

what good is your word is you don't mean it? shut up if you find yourself talking shit. keep your word, and be a mensch

laxative 07-10-2003 12:36 AM

I'd write her a check on a bad account and laugh about it.

grayman 07-10-2003 12:56 AM

Why would you do that? I like Bateman's idea, but I would make the bounty $10k less than I promised the person, so I would still come out ahead and wouldn't have to worry about that person suing me.

Apache 07-10-2003 01:04 AM

I cant say that I would promise something like that in the first place but with 90 million I would defiantly be trying to help out my family and friends and donate some, after I had bought EVERYTHING I wanted for myself first! But what the heck if i was feeling that grateful I might just give the person who sold it to me a little something!

KeyserSoze 07-10-2003 06:26 AM

I did win the lottery last week:) I won $11.00 and the week before that I missed it by six numbers:D

tikki 07-10-2003 07:01 AM

I wouldn't make that promise, but I'd probably give him a little just because I have no clue what I'd do with all that money.

Well, besides buying a Dual 2Ghz G5 w/ dual 250gb hard drives, radeon 9800, 8GB DDR, and a 23" HD Cinema Display

oh, and the 350z I need to drive it home in :)

seretogis 07-10-2003 07:36 AM

Yeah, I would definitely follow through if the winnings were substantial (meaning, millions). Though, if it is someone who was younger I would probably put it in a college fund or something to ensure it wasn't spent on drugs or something like that. :O

fallen_angel 07-22-2003 11:21 AM

if it was 90 million i would but if it was just a few million i might take out taxes on his share

remiel 07-22-2003 11:25 AM

If I'd promised to give them the money, hell yeah I would. I don't make promises lightly

as regards the rest of the money, that would be used to set up my comic shop & publishing company

greydenn 07-22-2003 01:59 PM

If I am stupid enough to make the promise, I should be stupid enough to follow through on it.

papermachesatan 07-22-2003 02:00 PM

I would keep my word.

MacGnG 07-22-2003 06:46 PM

sure i guess, if it was a chick i'd take her out to dinner too. :)

brad-va 07-22-2003 07:08 PM

I wouldn't make that promise, but if I did, I'd follow through.

Pennington 07-22-2003 07:09 PM

Sure I would.

If I had 90mil to blow, I'd invest enough to live nicely for the rest of my life and with the rest, I'd set up either a fund for something good or set up a hospital in Africa or some sentimental crap like that.

firebirdta 07-22-2003 07:27 PM

I agree. If you made the promise and it's an amount that makes the 100,000 look negligible, you should definitely follow through.

judd dredd 07-22-2003 07:33 PM

I would definitely do my best to keep my word and share my wealth...especially with my friends and family
