V-day plans?
I'd like to know two things from each of you: first, how long your current relationship has lasted, and second, what your plans are for Valentine's day (or, if you are reading this after the 14th, what you did).
1. 21 years. 2. We exchange cards, that's it. Valentine's day is too close to Christmas and my birthday to require another gift-giving holiday. "Just cards" was her idea many years ago. |
first: seven years...
second: i'm golfing; she's working... |
1. 4 1/2 years
2. we dont really celebrate v-day other than I usually try to make an extra nice dinner. We see no reason to pay money for stuff just cause its Feb 14th, when we celebrate our love throughout the entire year. It took our first year together for Dave to really understand I had no wish for flowers, gifts, cards on this day (and that I'd kick his ass for spending money on flowers that were inflated in price for one stupid day). We buy or make "just because I love you cards" for each other all the time anyway...no need to do it because of a designated day. |
1. together 4.5 years, married 3.75 years.
2. Our first Valentine's Day (2004) I was in white phase of Basic Training, lol. The next year I think we went to dinner and a movie. In 2006 our son was tiny so I think xeph gave me a rose and let me sleep in (exactly what I wanted!). Last year and this year he's deployed, so nothing again. I think he still managed to send me flowers last year, though, and he says he has something "coming for [me]" today. *excited* Next year we'll have to have a Super Duper Huge Valentine's Day Extravaganza to make up for all the shitty ones we've had. That should be fun ;) |
Emotionally involved for 3 years, "together" together for about 6 months.
I made a DELICIOUS pecan pie for him last night... and got a small token necklace this morning. Nothing fancy at all... we're still in that "kiss all day long" stage :p |
Chop wood
Fetch water |
1: 12 years
2: exchange cards. we'll be going out for lunch today. we're both working tonight. |
1. Coming up on 4 years in April, woo-hoo!!
2. It's a huge relief to spend this V-Day in Iceland, where globalization has not yet overwhelmed the shops with tons of cheap red/pink shit made in China. There's also a noticeable lack of a greeting card industry here... surprised Hallmark hasn't made it here yet. :oogle: That said, I still have a little soft spot for my American holidays (very little, but I can't ignore it), so I still like to do something just a bit special on those days. So we decided to make some "molten lava cakes" from scratch, to make together at home after a dinner/movie (the latter is not that rare for us, since ktspktsp gets free movie passes through work). You know, the kind of little chocolate cakes that have almost liquid chocolate spilling out from the inside, when you take 'em out of the oven? Mmm, sooooo good... and eaten with strawberries and pears, it should put us over the top for a very comfy, cozy evening. And that's enough for me! Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Feb 14th is also the anniversary date (since 3 years ago) when ktspktsp's country started going to shit again, thanks to Hariri being blown up. So that's another motivation for us to keep it relatively subdued, at least until things start to get back to normal in Lebanon... |
1. involved: almost 11 years. married: 7 years
2. We went out to eat Tuesday. I gave him a rose and a card last night. He usually gets me flowers, but the flower shop in town (very, very small town) closed down, so I don't know if he'll do that this year. And that's okay with me. |
1. dunno really, known her since 1996, married since 2002.
2. nothing, I gave her a couple books this morning. We normally don't do any kind of gift exchanges. just give gifts if the mood strikes us. |
1. Seems like I met her yesterday
2. Dinner and hopefully dessert |
1. 2.5 years (wow, where did the time go)
2. I have to work, so we're just going to get a pizza (heart-shaped) and relax at home. Traditionally, I get him underwear for Valentine's Day, so I picked up a pair of novelty boxers with Stewie from Family Guy as Cupid, and a chess set (the one we had is missing pieces). I also got him a card that says: "I like my Valentines like I like my martinis...Dirty." It got a chuckle. |
1 - 6 years almost 7
2 - Order diner from one of our favorite places, then going to see Casablanca playing at a theatre near us. |
3 years long distance, roughly a year and a half of living in the same city. Plans? We both think V-Day is a huge joke, not worth celebrating.
If you need a special holiday to show your affection for the person you're with, you're doing it wrong. Lousy worthless corporate holiday. |
1. The two minutes it took to hash out the price for a blow job while I watch SportsCenter.
2. Making her leave without paying and keeping her underwear for my collection. |
5 years?
I have a heart shaped pizza on it's way here now! |

18 years.
I bought glazed doughnuts and mallomars when I went to the store today. Tonight we will grill some steaks. Might sound funny, But to us these are rare and special treats worthy of high praise! |
1. Almost 3 years
2. She is being an idiot and we got in an argument this morning so I am probably staying home to drink |
1. I have known him 16 years, married almost 14
2. We exchanged e-cards. and I just found out we are going to the Ranger-Buffalo game on Saturday! He got free tickets. I think we will do lunch before the game. Maybe I can convince him to also do dinner in the city... |
1. dating for about 1.5 years now.
2. we are both not into the commercialism of the day but i still got her a card, small teddy bear and her fav chocolate in a heart shaped box. i also got us tickets to see a play; i was planning to get the tickets even before i thought of giving them to her on this day. i told her to get me nothing as i hate fake reading cards lol. i gave her flowers two weeks ago when she had a rough day at work. that means way more doing it on this day. |
1. Together for 16 years, married 9-1/2
2. Nothing: she specifically stated that if I give her anything I'm sleeping on the couch  Quote:
|
1. Together for 20 years
2. We are going out for a quiet dinner... but tonight rather than Valentine's Day. Friday is just better for our schedule. |
13 years together, 8 married. 6 years until we've been together longer than we were apart.
No special plans but my wife did make Bananas Fosters for dessert. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some nookie. |
1- together 8 years
2- went for a quiet dinner at a hotel resort away from the hussle and bussle of the city |
We've been together for 12 years, and we didn't do anything. I think Valentine's Day is dumb and totally commercial, but if it were up to hubby we'd probably celebrate.
|
Yeah for Medusa! Valentines day is retarded. (And I have been attached every Valentines day I can remember, so no, I am not bitter)
|
9 months, and she's away at school, so WE didn't do anything.
However, being one of the most sexually perverse people my friends have ever encountered, my buddy Jim invited me on as a special guest for the college radio station, as this week was "sexual awareness week." All in all I made out with two pieces of pizza, two things of lube, and 3 dozen condoms. Like I ever use them anyways. Oh, I fell in love with this girls chest who sat across from me for part of the evening though. So I guess that's sort of romantic? |

They are dead easy to make... and definitely should be undercooked. The other thing that's easy is chocolate mousse and chocolate souffle...
By the way... my plans for this evening are now shot. So it looks like we will be doing something when we get around to it. |
We've been going out for almost 5 years (getting married in November :D ).
We went out for dinner at our new favourite Chinese restaurant. Had way too much to eat, and were way too full and tired afterwards to even think about the sex we had planned. I'll make up for it tonight though. :p |
3 years together
exchanged cards, went for dinner at a japanese place. Good stuff there. Not just sushi of course. We don't bother doing much either that day. Mutually agreed to be over the top, but dinner is always appreciated :D |
it will be four years on and off in March...
i hate the disposable crap that comes with the guilt and competition of Valentine's Day and he respects that. Plus, he had to work at 11pm. So we had falafel wrap, gyro, hummus and kibbe in the kitchen standing up. Apparently, it's time for a nice dinner so he's taking me to Cantina Laredo on Saturday with one of the last of our friends... the cool one. |

25 yrs on the 14th (of Jan) 22 yrs married.
She made me shortbread shaped like Hershey's Kisses. Because there was a Hershey Kiss inside each one! Delicious. I got her a Coach purse. Apprantly women like these. going for dinner on Saturday a the Stonegrill restaurant (in Cabbagetown for you locals). We typically do a card exchange at the most, but this year just felt good to be different. |

Leto - you stud....purses and shoes....be still my heart |
I've known my lover 1.5 months. We kissed on a street corner at noon, wearing our coats.
|
1 year involved
went to dinner at o'charlies and had a long afternoon whoopie session. |
33 years. I know, that's kind of sick.
Figured out long ago that I can't buy anything for her that she really likes unless she is actually there. So I try to do other things. I was on a business trip for V-Day so I left lot's of post it notes in different places. Maybe I'll get her a bottle of Channel #5 next month when it's not near V-Day. In fact, we no longer even do Christmas or birthdays. Byt somehow it works and I wouldn't change a thing - well - almost. |
