why do men quit showing interest after a week or two? What does it take for a woman to hold your interest for longer than a couple weeks?

Being intelligent, fun to be with, good conversationist. Usually what makes me stick with someone.

good sense of humor
some intelligence & background
kindness
likes adventure & exploration
likes music & dancing
likes talking & sharing their mood
isn't judgmental or critical
shows patience & tolerance when dealing with my bad side
shows interest in what I'm talking about too
not flaky or crazy
not vague or mysterious
what she says is what she does

i think its pritty obvious that it different for every guy, and every girl for that matter. I dont like dancing that much, and i love girls who are crazy, comepletly random and out of control. so really you just have to find the right person for you, a guy who likes a girl for reasons other than her body, thats what makes a guy stick around, or a girl stick around.

this is me personally, but I like:

smart and witty
able to hold a conversation
being able to just let everything go and take a trip occasionally
be responsible
able to laugh at themselves
able to understand when I am joking
be tolerant of other religions

those are probably the really important ones.. after those would come the more superficial ones... similar tastes in music, books, etc and she must be attractive to me...

sorry, it is awfully difficult to stay with a girl if i find her physically unattractive.

the biggest problem I have faced regarding this issue is women tend to date the most moronic tasteless pieces of shit they can, get mentally fucked, come over untill they are healed and then leave.

now the above sounds rude. but i've yet to have another sittuation.


almost every guy I know who is ready for a relationship never gets the girl. if its some asshole who wants a nice lay, he's good to go.

Recognize a total bullshit story when you hear it.Guys have home phones...if he only gives you a cell or pager number it is because a woman may pick up at the house. If you are out together and his cell/pager goes off multiple times but he dosn't answer, it is his other girl. He will not dump her for you if he thinks he can have both. He will dump you just as fast when another girl catches his eye.

Be yourself, when I ask what you want to do today,don't just say "whatever",to a guy that reads "stay in your boxers and grab the remote". Dont ask stupid questions, If I thought you looked fat I would'nt be there. When you ask which outfit looks best I'm figuring which will come off easier.

It's an incredibly complex mix of intangibles.

Funny, but serious
Spontaneous, but organized

the list goes on and on.....it's an interesting amalgamation of opposites that hits the right combination to click with our own intersting amalgamation of opposites.

Just like a job interview, you get one chance to show them how well you complement the company. It's an all or nothing shot that requires you to lay a significant portion of yourself on the line. Enough personality to get us interested, but not enough to scare the hell out of us :p

Independence.

That's where I start and then everything else that I like about her becomes a good addition. If a woman is really self-concious about where she stands with me then I'm already out of her hands.

Independence is big with me, and it seems to be a rarity. Hence my single life. No complaints though.

To hold my interest someone has to be interesting.

The best reason I can give is because(in my experiences) women initially act like someone they're not and as soon as us guys figure out that it's an act,we move on. Be real and we will reciprocate.

Yup, yup. But we're lying here. The usual bullshit that women say they want in a man is:
-funny
-smart
-nice
-fun to be with

but of course we don't fall for this shit anymore. We know women want guys who are "confident" and arrogant, which simply translates to: jerk. On the flipside, guys will tend to say:
-brains
-smart
-funny
-interesting

now I'm not a chick, so I don't know if women fall for this, but its also bullshit... on a general basis. Now, let me tell ya what really does matter to me:
-hot
-isn't promiscuous
-will give herself to me and pretend no one else exists
-intelligent enough to integrate/differentiate e^x

Definition of "hot" in my eyes:
-long, straight brown hair, at least shoulder length
-light complexion
-non-brown eyes (any color other than brown works for me)
-no taller than 6'0"
-can be over weight, but not too much

thats about it. By now you must be saying to yourself, "This guy is never gonna get laid." Well, you're right ;)

Be patient, understanding, and most of all be yourself, if I find someone I like, and things still go well after a week or two, then all of a sudden their a different person....They've basically been lying the whole time to try to get someone to be interested in a person that they aren't.

Being brutally honest is an excellent trait, and also don't be afraid to take charge sometimes. Maybe it's just me, but I like a gal who can take control of situations (whatever they may be) sometimes; let them say "I'll handle it" That'd be pretty cool too.

But I've never been one to look at a woman as a piece of ass though, it just degrades the whole image of her to me. I'm more of an inside person more than outside, although the outside does matter too, but I'm more interested in what makes you tick than what you look like.

I don't think there's any way that this can be explained. I think it depends on the guy whether she's "just a piece of ass" or not anyhow. I don't think that it's really anything that can be fixed by the girl.... if you become just a piece of ass after 2 weeks then he's probably not the guy for you.

Looks are what usually draw me to a woman. To get more than interst one needs a compatible personality and sense of humor. Above avergae IQs need only apply.

I doubt I'm going to say anything new... For me the initial attraction is looks, figure, sex! But in the long term it's having equitable company.

In effect I'll go for a girl who gives good head, but I'll STAY with a girl who gives good mind.

My GF has held my intrest for 4+ years now, she's my sugar momma.

I have to be able to hold a conversation with her. If our conversations keep dying off in under 10 minutes, then I'm leaving. And she has to have a brain and know how to use it.

After a week? are you sure? As a 22 year old male its going to take something special to get me interested for more than a week or 2, I can see your point if you modified it to be more than a day or 2. But not a week.

If they lose interest in a week then maybe they just "suck", before you discredit me on that read on a bit. If a guy stays with a chick a week and then leaves without sex then maybe thats the reason, and you as a female probably dont' want to be with him. If they leave after a week with sex then there are 2 considerations: 1. maybe the dude is a prick and got what he wanted, or 2. maybe you just don't fit what he wants. Sorry to say that but shit you can't please everyone.

Unless this chronically happens to you don't worry, if it chronically happens then look at what you are saying to the guy. Maybe you are too focused on commitment and scaring the guy off?
