Larry King asks the wrong question...
Larry King asks Jerry Seinfeld the wrong question and Seinfeld let's him have it...

What about it?
Larry King is old. He's gonna make mistakes. And Jerry did kind of act like a dick. |
1) Seinfeld comes off as a total ass.
2) Even if this was staged, it still makes Seinfeld look like an ass. "What, you don't know the story of how great I am?" Not the best joke you could write. However, great publicity here. This clip has been passed around the internet like a San Diego wildfire. Ok ok, bad analogies belong in the other thread. |
he does look like a total dick..but so did muhammad ali at his press conferences. when your number 1 you're allowed to be a total cock and get aay with it.
i have to admit, it was a pretty lame question. especially from someone the calibre of larry king. |
Am I the only one in America that doesn't think Jerry Seinfeld is funny?
|
I think that Larry King was asking a clarifying question, as do most interviewers. King may have known (whatever pissed Jerry off), but was asking the question to clarify for people who didn't know about (whatever pissed Jerry off).
I agree with Ustwo through. I don't like Seinfield. |
The show was occasionally very clever, but it rarely had to do with Jerry himself being funny. As far as I can recall, I've never laughed at his standup.
Jerry was playing. Riffing. That's all. He wasn't mad--and Larry wasn't actually asking whether the show was cancelled. Doesn't change the fact that King's a jackass and a moron. |

As usual, ratbastid does the heavy lifting for me... |
I saw this a few days ago and thought that Larry was pitching a softball for Jerry to knock out of the park about being at the pinnacle of popularity and leaving at that point. I was really surprised that Jerry didn't get it and decided to charge the mound. Then he kept after it like a pitbull humping someone's leg (it's dangerous to interrupt). If he was playing, I don't think Larry was in on it, because I thought Larry was really taken aback by Jerry's totally dickish response- "Did someone forget to give Larry my resume..." Larry may be old and irrelevant, but don't treat him like a heckler, for cryin' out loud!

That last episode is actually airing on Fox tonight.

Seinfeld can be mildly amusing but is vastly overrated in my opinion. This goes for both the show and the individual; the television show in particular was carried more by Michael Richards and Jason Alexander (and, to a lesser extent, Julia Louis-Dreyfuss) than Seinfeld himself. |

what an egotist. why is everyone from seinfeld melting down?
|
I truly dislike Jerry Seinfeld. He is annoying, his voice is annoying, and he is not funny.
This interview proved it. |
Jerry Seinfeld had a tv show?

ratbastid already said this, but it bears repeating. If you watch that clip, it's clear that neither Seinfeld nor King are truly upset. They're just giving each other some shit. They're being facetious. Good natured ribbing. etc.
|
I would have cancelled Seinfeld in it's first season. Ugh.
|
he is just taking the piss out of king... it's not a big deal. apparently nobody here gets sarcasm.
but i suppose it's better to jump on the hate train and ride it to the station. |
I know he was giving King shit but it's still a dick thing to continue on while King was trying to end the segment.

If ustwo forms a "Jerry Who" club, add me to the membership. I couldn't be in the same room when that whiney bunch of self-involved characters was on the air.

well shit - i loved that show, and have always thought it was sad that the chemistry of that type of show is so rarely recreated. the audacity of the situations they created, the way the jokes were completely circular within the episodes, and sometimes lingering for several episodes or seasons, was fucking fantastic. i agree with the statement that seinfeld's acting wasn't what carried it, or really any individual contribution. the way the show was written, i thought, was brilliant, but more importantly was the particular chemistry those actors had at that particular time. i thought they worked amazingly well together; it's unfortunate that the last episode was what it was, because i thought it sucked.
as for this clip, it's impossible for me to say anything with a 45 second clip taken out of an entire interview, without context, etc. my guess is that seinfeld was fucking around with larry king, but who knows? sometimes it's hard to be the primadonna one day, and 'the guy who used to have that show' the next. i also have never enjoyed seinfeld's standup. i'll take stanhope or izzard any day. edit: switched thought train in midsentence. |

I thought Jerry came off as an ass in that, but it was kinda funny. There is a big difference between being number 1 and being canceled.
I like both his stand up and his TV show. "How do we know who is going to be the really sticky ones?" "You just leave that to me" |
Wow, the Seinfeld hate in this thread is thick. :)
Personally, I like his stand-up, and most of his series. I don't watch King, and I can't view the clip, but from what I've seen of King on other talk shows, the man is no one's chump. |
I saw Bee Movie tonight. Seinfeld was the voice of Barry Bee and Larry King was the voice of Bee Larry King. At one point, Bee Larry was interviewing him, and they were engaged in banter that was somewhat similar to the OP's video (but a different topic). It has me wondering if the two are related because of the timing.
I wasn't a big Seinfeld fan, only heard it if someone else was watching it. But I liked him in the movie. Possibly because he was only an animated bee. |

The buzz in the entertainment circle is that this was just a bit of honey for the movie and not a real sting.
Larry does drone on and on but hes a good worker, Seinfeld on the other hand seems to be more of a queen and should really just buzz off. |

Frankly, they both give me hives. |
I saw that interview as well, and IMO Jerry did come off as a dick at that particular moment. It's certainly possible that all the success of the show got to his head.
I think Larry David is more responsible for the show's success than Seinfeld is. And I think Curb Your Enthusiasm is a much better and funnier show than Seinfeld. |
I love the show Seinfeld and I could see alot of in in Curb Your Enthusiasm. You can see the larry david's influence on both shows. The larry king bee part in bee movie was very similar to the real life version lol
|
Never found him or his show funny. Was given tickets from a client to see his act some time ago and was never so bored. If I ever hear, "What's up with that," again, I'll scream.
Carlin is witty. Robin Williams is a maniac. Eddie Murphy is raw. Seinfeld states the obvious, but so do so many others who do it so much better. |
seinfeld is an ass, but he does have a point. it's a stupid question and bad interviewing. larry king should be cancelled. it's not like anyone watches his old ass anyway.
