Too bad - when my machine fried out, and the machine left at the ex's fried out, I lost the original digital files that I posted here. I guess I better go trawling through the forums for soon-to-be-deleted files so I can re-save them to my laptop.

Yeah, I can see the PM pruning, but attachments? That's no good :( Photography, Exhibition, TB... not that there are many attachments to the TB.

Yes, he means actual attachments. Images hosted elsewhere are fine.

Attachments are hosted on TFP servers. If your stuff is linked through an image hosting site, you will be fine. I don't think hal is planning on deleting photobucket or flickr. lol

Attachments are files that have been uploaded to the forum using the function that appears below the large text box when you are creating a new post.

I'm aware that this is a stupid question... but does this mean that all the Portraits will be deleted too (if they are hosted directly on TFP)? Bummer, if so... I liked knowing what everyone looked like.

You've got a few days in which you can click through and save your favs.

Well, I don't necessarily want to save them... it was just a nice reference to have, any time I wanted to see what a certain person looked like. Kind of like a directory (since a lot of members don't post pics on their profiles). But I guess people will be re-posting anyway, so that's cool.

Damn....I gotta go back and retrieve a lot of stuff that I lost when I reformatted in 05....if I can even get that stuff. Plus info in PM's....sheesh, there goes my free time. :(

Just a note for everyone who wants to back up their PMs quickly, at the bottom of the page, you will see this:
Just click on the format that you want to save it in, just be warned that it will save them all into one file. If you want each PM to be a separate file, then you'll have to save them one by one.

And to get the attachments quickly, while you're in the UserCP, the last option under "Miscellaneous" on the left, you'll see "Attachments". Click on that and you'll see everything you've attached.

Hmm. I'm going to lose some exhibition attachements that I have already deleted all of my local copies of, and about 120 PM's from the end of a relationship in 2004.

I deem this probably for the best.
