Hey Dave, I didn't say that I didn't like porn. In fact, hard-core porn is one of my favorites to watch, and I'm very glad that it exists on TFP.
I just don't like the porn showing up on my Search requests, because it's just plain annoying to see the rather stupid titles "nice tits and ass" "cornhole getting banged" or whatever. If I want to look at porn, I know where to find it... but most of the time, when I come to TFP, I just want to hang out and read the regular posts and find something to respond to. I'm hoping that the Search board will go back to the way it was, or that the filter function will be fixed soon.

I don't think this is complicated (after searching through the usercp functions for a minute), but maybe Halx needs to be a tutorial on how to filter out threads?

No, Halx known how to exclude some forums from ALL new posts searches, but he's hoping to give everyone the option to *choose* which forums they do and don't see.
Anyway, it's a holiday weekend, give it some time.

Honestly, we're complaining about the presence of porn or porn searches on an adult site?
Remember, this is an adult site. If you're cruising adult sites at work, what do you expect to find? Instead of complaining about content on an adult site, maybe you should refrain from viewing adult sites while at work.

oh great advice there, thanks for that (yes Im being extremely sarcastic there)
we've had years of those not showing up now all of the sudden those of us that could care less that there is porn on here are inundated with it....I dont think " complaining" is unthinkable in this situation.

I was being patient, I just dont appreciate jumpinjesus remark one bit. Some of us are allowed to surf at work as long as we stay away from naked people. For 4 years (for me) up until last week that wasnt an issue here and to be told that we should just "stay away" is bullshit.

As a useless side note, last time I refreshed about 20% of the new threads were from EZ (your mileage may vary). That's pretty telling IMHO what an impact pr0n may have on tfp as far as bandwidth and such.
Right now there is another post from halx about getting out of the EZ and using some of the other areas. I think this explains why he has to make those posts.

I can wait for the porn problem to be fixed. It's really not a problem. with FIREFOX, you can do a search and highlight every word so i do that for the TB and i just avoid those because they are highlighted.
I seriously want this function to work for more than just the porn. I want nonsense to be available all the time and if I want, the porn as well. For about 1 or 2years, all I did was go from forum to forum looking at the new posts that way. it's really not that bad and i still do that once in a while. if you have problems at work, then don't use the site at work. TFP is the only place (out of my daily sites) that I never checked at work on regular hours because theres too much things that are NSFW including avatars, signatures, text and of course, pictures.

Just as fishing isn't about the bait, TFP isn't about the porn. It used to be about Unreal (Halx is crazy at Unreal). Then it was about whatever. As more people joined, Halx developed the rules and it turned into the TFP we all know and love today. |

Another vote here for "don't want porn, coz I can't look at the site from work"
Also - in every forum BUT EZ we NSFW posts - in EZ all posts are considered to be NSFW. Hard to look at the site to see what's happening when my boss (who I share an office with) walks past my desk and sees thread titles like: @l$scan -Angela - fist in ass + pussy + bottle + gapes + amylee fisting her "Suck It or Fuck It" Monster Clit ANAL MAXIMUM...(NOT FOR DIAL-UP) Poll: not shaved, then shaved...you decide "REAL" firm tits and some nice "PINK" Tits and Ass....what could be better? (CAUTION:T/A OVERLOAD!) Nuff said!

Not to mention... for such a tasteful place (the rest of the site), why the heck do we have such annoying thread titles in the TB?... not a huge thing, just curious about why standards go down so far in the TB.

I think these titles are appreciated in the Titty Board for reasons having nothing to do with tastefulness and standards. Nor should they.
But like has been said before, Hal is working on the problem. Let's give him the chance.

Just for the record - I have no problem with those titles (and even some of the posts are interesting and arousing, I'm sure - I've not looked at them all), but they are not of a piece with what I normally can comfortably have on screen at lunchtime.

I've noticed several regular posters in the TB choosing names that seem to be a little more work-friendly. Certainly not all, but I think that the concerns are being heard by most of the members.
And the problem should be resolved shortly anyway.

I still don't understand why people are complaining about having to turn away from adult content on an adult site. Even if the porn disappears, we're still gonna have titles like "I want my wife to do me with a strap-on" and "Fisting" and stuff like that in Sexuality. Are we going to start crying about those when the porn is gone?

This site is what it is. It's the best of the adult world: intellectual with sex involved. It is 18 and over, which I think is great because you can have not only intellectual conversations, but also sexual discussions without worrying about an underage audience.
This thread is baffling me. I'm not sure what the argument is exactly. There has always been porn on this site. Some people are suddenly surprised or embarrassed or shocked...I don't know. There are ways to surf at work without going there. I work for the schools and came here safely with 7 year olds in the room. It is easy to filter the sex-adult out of this site. Do it. At home, enjoy it. Always with the drama /end Sopranos quote.

The current situation is disruptive. I bow down before a great tittyboard post but it distracts from the whole of TFP. I'd rather they not show up by default, even during a testing phase.
Why is this so difficult? There are ways to roll out new features that smooth things out: Minimal exposure testing followed by full-scale roll over _afterwards_. Complaining about people noticing a screwup is childish blaming of the victim. Competent development includes more than coding.
