Children Find Babysitter Dead In Bathroom, Show Body To Friends

POSTED: 3:05 p.m. EDT June 13, 2003

SARASOTA, Fla. --
A Sarasota babysitter is dead from a drug overdose, and police say the kids she had been watching began showing her body to their neighborhood friends.

Authorities say the two children, who are ten and six, found 25-year-old Sarah Beeman-Albritton dead in the bathroom of their home Wednesday. The kids ran and got their friends and showed off the body.

Investigators say Beeman-Albritton had been dead for ten to 12 hours by the time deputies were called to the home of Heather Salvhus. A boy who saw the body told his older brother, who called 9-1-1.
Deputies say Beeman-Albritton apparently overdosed on Methadose, which is a liquid form of Methadone, and some Xanax. The prescription drugs belonged to Salvhus, who had asked Beeman-Albritton to watch her kids for a while.

Salvhus said she last spoke with Beeman-Albritton on the phone early Wednesday morning. The children found her later that morning.

Thats pretty crazy....If I was the kid, I dont think I would have shown people...but who knows?

MacGnG 06-14-2003 08:08 PM

it's a shame

spived2 06-14-2003 08:22 PM

Yeah, that would probably scar me for a while.

I'm not that surprised, really. What's a kid to do, anyway? I mean, sure you're supposed to call 911, no question.

However, what if the body shocks the hell out of you? I don't think we've got enough of what was going on there to make any real judgement call here, on the kids' actions, anyway.

The babysitter, OTOH, sounds like a bit of a jerk to OD on the job. Leave the kids with a corpse. Real nice. No tip for her!

Ahhhahaha.. that was a good one denim...

reminds me of the time when I was with a babysitter.
Soon as my parents left I attempted a backflip in my frontyard and landed on my back. Knocked the wind out of me. The babysitter thought I broke my neck.
~no wait... I think it was a front flip.
I was trying to be a ninja.

The best I could ever manage to show off to my friends was a dead monkey in my back yard. Cool, but still not in this league. And I know that kids really should be taught what to do in these situations, but really, who expects a babysitter to take drugs at all, let alone OD on the things when they've got such a large responsibility.

You had a dead monkey in your back yard?

This all seems odd. Of course, as others have sorta mentioned, they may have just not known what to do. They could have just been going for a second opinon from the friends. Apparently it worked because the older brother of one of the friends (eventually) called 911.

That's what I was basically thinking, yeah.

I know this is tough for alot of people to handle: you need some common sense here. Don't leave your prescription drugs out where your kids/their friends/people you don't know can get their hands on them.
