She used to be known by a previous name, (unsure if it was her family name, or an earlier "stage name") but for simplicity's sake, the above is a Japanese Teen Idol - name of which being: 護あさな | Asana Mamoru.
-- (to note: courtesy of tineye, google translate, and pixnet.) - - - - - Speaking of the fascination with idols, I really have developed a pure timeless crush with Hwang Mi Hee (whose not an 'idol' in the traditional sense of whatever that means in Japan, S. Korea, or E. China - she is known as a 'racing queen', I believe... or in other words, one of those models at car shows whose grand flowing gestures are meant to attract consumers. Additionally, most of them gorgeous.) - - - - - As it pertains to the re-updated but still nebulous OP, I don't really play favourites with anything. IF we are allowed to expand the nomenclature's definition of the demographic sterotype pertaining to Asians, I wonder: could Natalie Portman fall into this subjective rankings' means of classification? (quick note: she was born in Jerusalem, Israel, which by my rudimentary geographicology, neither falls into Africa nor Europe, so she must be simply... Asian.) I still do not believe I would come back to debate the point, but maybe, though, just to post some photographs. -- last bit of opinion: If I were to compile a hypothetical list of famous celebrities, (Asian or not) I definitely would consider Lucy Liu to be a #1 seed sort of woman. Despite the fact I finally found a film in which she appears nude just this past week, she's been a fan fav for me for decades now (or since early '94-95). Not unlike Philip J. Fry, I, too, being a semi-fictious personality, could easily rattle out her name before all others if pressed to do so, she's so remarkable, in my estimation.

Asia is, pretty much, everything from the Stans in Central Asia (Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, etc.) through South Asia (India, Pakistan, etc.) North Asia (Japan, China, etc.) and South East Asia (Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, etc.). Israel is firmly in the Middle East. EDIT: I stand corrected... Apparently, West Asia, is what you can also call the Middle East. It's all feels a little Eurocentric to me.

I know. I was going to add the caveat that, would Portman be known as a true Caucasian?
I haven't used the term in some years, so I'm not sure what it means anymore; (except that in the US, it has, and probably is still is, synonymous with one who is 'white') the problem that lies with me is that the sociologists of this new era always try to better classify the continental differences amongst ourselves, so I'm just left behind in how the cultural / racial categorisations evolve (as I don't keep up to date any more). The hardest classification I have encountered before is how to perceive the Russian-state conglomerate, as well as the once-heavily-influenced Eastern Bloc countries that are nearby. Would they be more aptly considered to Eastern Euros, or could they fall under the stereotypical / simplistic umbrella of being Russian? (even tho the only thing that relates them to the country anymore is a similar language structure; I'm thinking of countries like Bosnia, Czech Republix and the Ukraine here). Additionally, I've noticed that Russia is so expansive, yet wholly engrossed as the same place to Westerners that they refer to most any tall, blonde and buxom beauty with an accent as being almost Russian. (the same odd-culture-graphing I've noticed pertains to S. America, where most people from there would be termed as Latino, yet those who speak Portuguese, have a visibly more-ample backside, and might sport some wicked tanlines are more firmly known as Brasileiras.) Not that it would ever come up here again, but if it called upon me to do so, I'd be more apt to term the still nomadic tribes present in Russia, as well as most of the villages within a day's drive of the Mongol / Northern China / Kazakhstan bordering to be more resembling of the colloquial descriptor of 'Asian', despite firmly residing within the Federation. I don't think I think I about this too often, but I do pick up on the quirks that others use when they try to explain to me their "preferences". - - - - - - - - - - If I'm allowed, here is another toss of the hat towards this, I don't know what to call this... single-issue, preferential voting? I'll call it right now: (friend-os) Ming-Na [Wen] has still got it. :wolfwhistle: + bonus There's also this: Category:American actors of Asian descent - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

yo Kramus.... can always start another more appropriate thread...
just sayin you know. ---------- Post added at 08:21 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:01 AM ---------- as for the OP, Zhang ZiYi would be my pick. Lucy is pretty hot too. what about Grace Park? I know she's a bit thin, but so are the other two. She seems to have a hands-on-her-hips thing going on (not complaining, just observing):

Perhaps I made my point a little faecitiously (sic?)
When AMERICANS/CANADIANS say "Asian" they mean "East Asian" If an Englishman says Asian he almost certainly means Indian, Bangladeshi or Pakistani. If you ask a Turkish guy if he's Asian... well, it will go one way or the other. I guess I was trying to point out, perhaps clumsily, that sometimes people use terminology as it was universal when in fact it is quite specific to their own culture. Quote:

And Lucifer, if there is an image you have in mind, I'd be happy to have you bring it out As for the OP, I always really liked the looks of Tia Carrere. She's the actress who played opposite Mike Myers in his Wayne's World movies. I also must admit that I've paused to look when my step-daughter is watching Disney TV and Brenda Song shows up. And Zhang Ziyi, the actress from Hero and House of Flying Daggers, is such a lovely lady

How can you guys forget Freida Pinto of Slumdog Millionaire?
And Natalie Portman. Wow, she's really become attractive since her Star Wars days.

so you are saying that you were attracted to her because she is Asian / Oriental, while she would like to believe that it was her that turned your head in that direction.
I think that the second option would make her feel like she had more influence but like the old saying goes, (some) gentlemen prefer blondes... (substitute your preference)

I've always liked Kate Beckinsale. She's only a quarter Chinese. Does she still count? On the subject of whether Asia and oriental cover the same geographic area. Yes, they are the same thing. Israel, turkey and so on are Asia. Caucasian is a word that really bugs me. People always use it to mean Northern European. You know the Viking types. The word represents all the people's descended from the Caucus mountains. It includes northern europeans, southern Europeans, the majority of the middle east. Yes Arabs are Caucasian. Jewish people. Probably a few others I can't think of. But it encompasses more ethnic groups than the British, French and Dutch. Let's face it that's who the majority of the group referred to as 'white' in north america and other colonies such as Australia, South Africa and New Zealand are. I always find it a bit odd that people on the states make a distinction between White and Spanish. What's that about? People use words like Asian, Oriental, European and such as though your talking about a specific group of people but the areas are just too large for that. Anyway, enough of my withering. Japanese ladies have always been the ones I find the most attractive. |
