Monica Lewinsky gets her Masters

Not sure if this is where this should be posted, but it can be moved to where it needs to be, if need be:

**************************
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Former White House intern Monica Lewinsky, whose sexual relationship with U.S. President Bill Clinton led to his impeachment, has graduated from the London School of Economics, her publicist said on Wednesday.

Lewinsky, who was 21 when she became involved with Clinton, is interviewing for jobs in Britain, publicist Barbara Hutson said.

When Lewinsky, 32, received her Masters of Science degree in Social Psychology last Thursday "the audience of students and parents erupted in spontaneous applause. ... It was a very emotional moment for her," Hutson said in a statement.

Hutson said Lewinsky spent the past year studying and "staying away from the London social scene."

She completed a thesis entitled "In Search of the Impartial Juror: An exploration of the third person effect and pre-trial publicity."
*****************************

First, good for her.

Second, the punch lines form below this note!

ratbastid 12-21-2006 08:11 AM

No jokes here. I say, good for her. I wondered, at the time, how a 21 year old woman whose name is suddenly synonymous with fellatio would have anything like a normal life or career.

Good choice for her. She brings a unique perspective on this, I imagine!

magictoy 12-21-2006 08:43 AM

I'm sure that's a load off her dress, uh, shoulders.

Something tells me she'll have a leg up on the interview process, too.

Translation - she's fat now. Really fat.

Yes, I know I'm a bad person for even thinking it.

I can't imagine she has a "normal" dating life for someone her age. Any guy that goes out with her would either (a) expect her to "perform" or (b)would be the most open-minded individual I've ever heard of, uncaring of what others think of him being with her.

I know if I wasn't married in my late 20's or early 30's, I couldn't have been bothered to explain to everyone that "No, I'm NOT going out with her for THAT." Probably says something (negative) about me.

However, if the "publicist" quoted in the article is Monica's spokesperson, I have to wonder why she has one. Folks trying to stay out of the limelight don't need a publicist, do they?

I bet she will do great during the oral part of her interviews. She'll probably blow right by the competition.

OKay
1. Who Cares?
2. Who would want to be Monica Lewinsky's boss. It would have to be a female.....
3. We all know she can handle herself with a desk.
4. sorry Ma'am there is no Smoking in here..... oh wait your not smoking it are you?
Wonder if she appiled for a job with the Prime Minister. Fitting how she got a degree in economics. Easy enough. Give a president a blow job, let him shove things like cigars in you, them leak it, then write a book, then never rally have to worry about money again. Sounds like great economics to me.

Seconded.

I see no reason to crack the all too easy joke here. The pointing and laughing phase should've been over years ago. I know that I, for one, and I daresay a great many others around here, made some pretty stupid, and potentially embarrassing, choices at 21 years of age. I'm certainly glad that I don't have to listen to snickering about them for the rest of my life.

So...congratulations to Ms Lewinsky.

mixedmedia 12-21-2006 01:39 PM

I concur with Bill and ratbastid. Leave the girl alone, for pete's sake. She is entitled to the rest of her life.

JustJess 12-21-2006 01:50 PM

Yeah, if I got made fun of for every bad choice I made back then... yowza. I think her Master's thesis sounds pretty interesting as well. And good for her for choosing England - for a snowball's chance in hell at normalcy.

On another note - holy crap on a stick! It's been a while since we've heard from you, AVOR! I used to enjoy your politics posts very much.

Elphaba 12-21-2006 06:01 PM

Might I add that her singular accomplishment has nothing to do with today's politics?

I pity her for the name recognition, but she is nothing more than a former "celebrity" of no obvious talent. Think Paris Hilton, without the money or looks.

(Yes, I am seriously creeped out that this tramp found her way into the Politics Forum, rather than "General")

Bill O'Rights 12-21-2006 08:58 PM

OK...good point about this thread being in the wrong forum. I missed it earlier, but corrected it now.

However...

I absolutely refuse to make the obvious joke. Damn it, Pen...I'm trying to take the high road here. Quit tempting me. :D

Ya big baby...she doesn't have an exclusive on that particular talent.

Halx 12-21-2006 11:58 PM

Tramp? Geez. Easy now.

EaseUp 12-22-2006 01:32 AM

Didn't she give oral sex to a married man?

yabobo 12-22-2006 02:02 AM

Wow , how time flys...seems like only yesterday she was crawling around the white house on her hands and knees!:suave:

stevie667 12-22-2006 03:25 AM

Personally, i couldn't give a flying crapsack about what she did to the president, kudos to him for getting blown by a 21 yr old, shame he got caught.

However, what really pisses me off about that woman is the way she used her name to become a minor celebrity off doing it. I really really hate people who do that (like that woman who had the affair with beckham joining dream tv, another pitiful show).

Brewmaniac 12-22-2006 03:44 AM

Good for her, she's worked hard to overcome a scandaless
past. She will do fine.

Now I wish someone would have blown Bush about 3 years ago!

suncrafter 12-22-2006 03:54 AM

Good for her. Most people would let the scandal ruin their whole life.

I never got the impression she wanted it. She never spoke publicly. She hired people to represent her to the media and tried to hide as much as possible.

If she didn't want it, she wouldn't have done the TV show...

Well, thanks, Jess! :icare:

I don't go there too much anymore--too many posts that consists of LONG clips from articles I couldn't care less about. I find it a bore to wade through a lot of them. But now and then . . .

Don't really give a shit at all. I wonder though if she went to LSE in hopes of being recognized less. Or maybe she is just attracted to Tony Blair.

Intense1 12-22-2006 10:48 PM

I also say good for her. I've watched how Monica has been villified in the media, and it is to her credit that she has moved on with her life and gotten additional studies, something that will help her achieve some career goals other than being "Monica Lewinski". Hopefully she'll make a good life for herself.

TheMumpus 12-22-2006 11:59 PM

Thats cool, at least she moved on... If i were her, i woulda gone for a degree in psychology, because her 'unique experience' woulda given her both a good base for an objective perspective as well as a good starting business base on which to begin a psychologist empire.

LSE huh? That's an excellent London school. I have a friend who's doing her PhD there. All I could think of while reading that Monica Lewinsky has graduated there is that the school suddenly doesn't seem as reputable...sorry, just being honest. Who cares about her anyway?

Wilkerson 12-29-2006 09:16 AM

Good to see she is moving forward and starting the next chapter of her life.

Ourcrazymodern? 12-29-2006 01:13 PM

Good for her, & whoop-tee-doo!
I thought she already had her 15 minutes of fame, which stretched into months and now she's BACK?
Are presidential cum-stains really so valuable?

Sharon 12-31-2006 11:15 AM

I agree, give the girl a break. I've done much worse things, and been seduced by much less good looking (oh yes he is) and powerful men (and power is, believe me, a powerful aphrodisiac). When someone has that kind of draw, it becomes a lot easier to ignore whether it's wrong, or that they're married.

iccky 01-04-2007 08:32 AM

People forget that you have to be reasonably intelligent and motivated to get one of those White House internships in the first place. She was far from a dumb bimbo.

Kaliena 01-04-2007 09:31 AM

Truth be told, I was suprised to see this at all, I'll also go with "who cares?"

Hopefully she'll get a chance to live a mildly normal life.

Ourcrazymodern? 01-18-2007 08:27 PM

"Motivated" is a wonderful word...

...so is mildly!
