For What It's Worth...

I drink... period. So I won't get into a sanctimonious diatribe of one side or the other... I just won't.
But, I thought I'd share this with all...

I had a friend who died this weekend of internal bleeding. He wasn't feeling well Thursday & was take to the hospital. He was told he had serocis of the liver & was told what to do by the attending doctor. Among them was to stop drinking all together & to see an internal specialist Monday - the appointment was set up for him as an emergency case.

He went home and drank himself to sleep where he was found in a ball, passed out cold & a puddle of sweat. His brother took him back to the hospital where he passed away.

JP would not listen to anyone let alone listen to the advice of others. He lived his life hard and fast and couldn't care less. Always the life of the party, he was the first to see to it that all were having a good time... for they came first.

So for what it's worth... he was only 44.

Sorry to hear that...

He probaly shouldn't have gone against doctor's orders though. I really don't have much pity for people that kill themselves. That sounds awful to say, but I dont mean any harm.

Sorry to hear the news. Is his family taken care of? should we set something up or is there a way to send our thoughts (or funds) to the family?

How sad. He sounded like a nice guy with a problem or a desire to die. Hope he is at peace.

i'm having a real hard time staying neutral or even sympathetic on this one. yes, it's a tragedy to lose a friend, especially someone this young...

however...

he did it to himself. i'm trying to make myself feel bad about his death but it just keeps resonating back in my head that it's his own damn fault that his only source of any kind of a grounding in life came from the bottle. from how you described him, he must have been surrounded by many people who all liked him, i just wonder what grows inside a man who is surrounded by so many people who love him to drive all of that good karma away and run off to the bottle. it makes no sense to me. i am truly sorry for yoru loss, hank, i've never had a loss that close to me and hope that i'll be able to say that for years to come.

i just can't feel sorry for the man that killed himself.

In Eastern Europe drinking ones self to death is not an uncommon way to die. The youngest person whom I knew to do this was only 27. Horrible horrible way to go.

Maybe he was a very generous friend who wanted to make sure Hanxter didn't die that way. "See, watch this!"

to answer some ??? here...

no- a fund is not needed - he never married - though i'd be surprised if there was even a kid around - too stoned to get it up

yes - Phred - i agree with you - but that was JP - not regrets - lived it the way he wanted

no - it was not a lesson that he would have ever listened to - learned is now a moot point - but that was his way of being defiant - he knew what he was doing - don't believe me... just ask him

i didn't put this up for condolences - though i DO thank you all...

i find every day that we are all very simplistic in our make up - we are no more than a sponge - physically & mentally - we absorb - and in some ways too much of one thing or another to the point of saturation where we begin to leak...

it's what i call the doors of our eyes & ears - you take in what you want & try to leave the rest behind...

damn - i should have been a song writer...
