I Recently Almost Got Killed(with pictures)

This is the story of my one and most recent near death experience, I was sitting at home when my friend who we will call Kyle, because his name is Kyle… phones me up and asks if I want to go to a party in some weird town with him for his birthday. I of course say yes because I have nothing better to do then party as much as I possible can.

Anyway, on the way there we picked up drinks and supplies, finding the place wasn’t that hard, I was driving but we were spending the night so I bought some drinks as well. Once we got there Kyle introduced me and my friends to all of his friends there, we all got drunk and had a nice time trying to pick up, picking up, and then hanging out trying to pick up more. As the night wound down, I started hanging out with the father of the kid who was throwing the party, he was handing out drinks to everyone at the bar and playing the music loud so I thought he was a cool dad.

My friend Greg went up and asked if he had any gasoline and the dad gave him a gerry(sp?) can full and we went outside and set most of his lawn on fire trying to burn Greg subway shirt. Anyway, even later on in the night when it was just Me and Greg awake mainly, we were talking to the dad guy some more when he went upstairs for some reason. I got it in my head that I should do behind the counter and grab a bottle of rum from the top shelf, break the shelf, then down half the bottle and pour the rest into shoot glasses for Greg, just about then is when the dad came back downstairs and yelled causing me to fall down and smash the bottle and the shot glasses.

That’s when the dad went nuts, he happened to have a collection of guns and knifes and a big sword on the wall behind me, he grabbed me and held me up to the wall by the neck and started talking into my ear about how he could kill me and no one would ever find out, his word against anyone else’s, he would never get in trouble, right when me and Greg thought we had talked him down a bit, he went nuts and grabbed the huge sword off the wall and brandished it us and we ran.

We tried to wake up Kyle but he said screw it, I got behind the wheel of the van, ready to drive just down the road if we have to, Greg runs in to double check on Kyle, I pass out behind the wheel, and in the early morning we leave, it was so scary.

So, that’s my story, post your near death experiences!

I won't go into detail, but I've had surgeries where the chances of survival were less than 50/50.

Had meningitis, blood pressure was in the 60s or 70s, was on morphine (didn't help with the bp problem), and had no help from my immune system. The doctors had told me that in all likelihood, I would die. There were surprised that I survived.

There's more, but I think that's enough for now.

Technically I'm supposed to be dead. I guess the big guy upstairs wasn't ready to call in my "get out of jail free" card because I'm still here! :D
Just before I turned 18 I was walking my bike through a crosswalk (green light, walk signal on) and this moron in a five ton decided that he could just turn right without looking. I couldn't get out of the way quick enough (he hit the end of my bike which knocked me over with the bike on top) and he went right over me...he didn't even stop - he thought he had just run over the curb. :(
So I'm lying there in a BIG puddle of blood...way messed up. Compound fracture to my femur and the rest of my thigh ripped wide open - knee to pussy, practically. Crushed my pelvis and broke a few vertabrae for good measure. A friend of my brother's was an ambulance paramedic and he just happened to be at the intersection (off duty). He held my artery closed so I wouldn't bleed to death on the road until the ambulance came. If it weren't for him doing that I wouldn't be typing this little story today. Even after that I was unconscious for three weeks, then spent years going back and forth between wheelchairs, body casts, you name it. Been through so many surgeries I think I've hit my quota for this lifetime and the next! But....two years after that I could walk just fine again (was supposed to have my leg amputated...forgot that part!) without the limp they said I'd have. Ha! Showed them!
Just goes to prove that the human body is an amazing thing!

I never had a near death experience, I guess I should be lucky for that...

oscar0308 06-10-2003 09:20 AM

uh.. interesting story YourNeverThere. btw.. your what is never there??

Minx: damn. that sounds nasty. i cant imagine having to go through such trauma. how long ago was this? you must have some crazy scars.

Peetster 06-10-2003 09:45 AM

Yeah, I almost bought it a bunch of times. It's usually because I'm being a dumbass, or someone screwed something up. I can think of at least four times I almost crashed and burned in a helo I was flying. Oh, five. I lost primary hydraulics once in a SeaHawk. It takes about 50# of pressure to move any of the controls with only backup hydraulics. That was a pisser, landing on a moving ship.

Once I got so drunk that I threatened this kid with a sword. The alcohold poisoning nearly killed me. Oh, wait, that was YOU? Hey, fix my shelf!

WhoaitsZ 06-10-2003 10:27 AM

"your son will never see the age of seven" - the doctor to my parents several years ago. I am now 24.

these moments are sacred, the put us back in our place and lets us realize how precious life really is, even when it sucks.

Your Never There is a line from a Cake song that i had in my head, also its written on the wall beside me, all the walls in my room are covered in quotes and strange lines and stuff that i think of, and i like to use the first thing i see as screen names for things.

man i hope your not that guy, i swear he was a closet nazi, earlier in the night i tried to convince him to try shrooms because he seemed to have a lot of rage, later i found out he and his entire family are hardcore drughaters, and hate everyone who isnt, it would suck to be him.

Here is a good reason not to smoke pot and drive at the same time. Was coming back from a friends cabin was in the way back of a van (no seat belt), the middle row chair had been removed. So anyways my friend in the passenger seat drops his pop. My friend who was driving goes to grab it and lets go of the wheel. We vere into on coming traffic, into a semi. Luckily my friend grabs the wheel half a second before collision otherwise I think its safe to say I would be dead.

viveleroi0 06-11-2003 12:39 PM

I've never been THAT close, but I have been lucky. All involve motor vehicles. I dont drive. I was walking to the bus one day crossing an intersection and some idiot woman in an SUV ran a red light at like 70. I swear, that van passed less than a foot in front of me. A few inches over and I would have been pancakes.

Other is I rode my bike around the corner of a building and the car was coming up the alley way at 30. They barely stopped.

tinfoil 06-11-2003 12:49 PM

I can't count how many times I have been almost killed in an accident on the 400-something highway to Barrie (Ontario, northish of Toronto). I have had tires narrowly miss crashing through my windshield at 120k/h, passed under the bed of a truck as it was flipping, ran over a spare tire that fell from underneath the truck in front of me.

Not to mention the other countless near accidents. That highway is a death-trap.

When I was in high school I had a job working at a wrecking yard running the car crusher, before the cars came to me to be squished they were set up on this high rack with a big ass fork lift to have the gas tanks removed.... one day I was messing around waiting for a car to crush and the 'new' guy picks up this 71 pontiac 4 door, raises it real high and starts driving over to the rack, now you have to emagine that I'm at least 15 feet from the rack... just standing there, well he drives over to the rack and just as he gets to it the pontiac starts slipping off the forklift..... so I go running as it falls off the forklift, it lands on its nose and flips over landing right where I was standing....

LOL! I guess it was trying to get me before I got to it :D

Oh hell...about 17 years ago now....drat - now I feel old! :)
Let's just say I don't advise anyone to take on a five-ton!

DEI37 06-11-2003 03:13 PM

Minx...did they get the asshole driving the truck?

I've been close before. I also am supposed to be dead. The doc's were surprised I made it. From time to time, I wish I hadn't have, things have been different ever since.

Spungfoo 06-11-2003 04:55 PM

I've had some close calls in vehicles, but my only near-death experience as of late was almost choking to death on a lifesaver. I have a hunch that my death will be one of the ones you laugh at on the news... queue Dennis Leary's "falling poodle" bit...

Neo 06-11-2003 05:50 PM

Yeah, how bout one of those Soviet built 5 inch rockets come screaming right at you. Bounced off the dirt bank I jumped behind and went straight up, exploding about 200 feet directly above me.

It was called Vietnam.....

jizzmasterp 06-13-2003 07:37 PM

I was stupidly climbing across a cliff face without any equipment. I used a small moss covered ledge as a foot hold and oops. The clif was about 80 degrees so I was sliding/falling towards jagged rocks. I wa salmost at the other side so I caught a branch which broke. I caught the next one and it held.

gloveshot3 06-15-2003 05:02 AM

been DOA twice-at 8 yrs old, and 27. i'm now 50. many broken and missing body parts, but hell i still have fun.

Tubing down a river that we foolishly weren't familiar with, and came around a bend to meet a 15-20 foot drop.
The water was rushing over the edge of the waterfall so fast and beneath was lava rock.
As I went over the edge my right leg jammed down between the rocks and the water pushed my body forward (so that it would look as though I am bending over to pick something up) and held me there.
I struggled something fierce trying to get my leg out and push my upper body from beneath the water to at least get a breath but the water was far more powerful than I.
It held me under for what seemed an eternity. Being the fighter that I am, I don't give up on things easily. However, for reasons I will never understand, I gave up. I resolved this was how I was going to die and I quit struggling...I simply gave up.
Next thing I know, a rush of water with tremendous force came under me and somehow my leg came free (can't figure that one out) and I continued down the waterfall face down, head first into the deep water below that was very calm once you were away from the rushing water.
Somehow I never lost consciousness. I swam to the embankment and got myself out of the water while the others in my party went through their own hell.
I was 15 at the time and my mother was with us and after we all knew everybody was okay and accounted for, everybody was getting ready to get back in the water and finish the trip down the river.
This was the one time in my life that I was blatantly, bold faced defiant towards my mother. She INSISTED I get back in that river and face that fear. (We are talking full name...middle and all, the real "mom" thing)
I stood fast with clenched fists and defiantly said NO! I walked the rest of the way down the river bank with the cuts bleeding and burning, angry that my fear would not let me back in the water.
I have never been on a river since. I can go out on a lake and play but I will pass on the river thank you.
And there is my story...
