Halloween Costume Ideas!!
 

Yes yes, it's that time of year again, folks!

Here's your one-stop-shop for all those ideas you've got creepin' and crawlin' around in your brains... so share ideas for costumes right here!

NOTE: When, not if, someone posts a totally disgusting, perverse, nasty, incredibly offensive costume idea... this is not the place to take them to task on it. Just let it be. If you don't like it because you think it's just going too far, just pretend you didn't see it, ok? Some people thrive on the most disgusting costume idea they can find.

My ideas so far:

1. ninja pirate cyborg
2. zombie steve irwin (with impaled stingray barb)

I have heard of a priest costume that come with a small doll... That might be taking it too far, but the Steve Irwin costume that comes with a stingray is pretty sad too.

Me? I have not decided yet, I was considering a cardinal outfit (cleargy, not the bird) but it looked kinda cheap... Oooo, maybe i'll be a Jedi...

Well, I already put this in your journal but I'll repeat it here. Dress up in a Yankees uniform and walk around with a revoked pilots license.

Hmmm....how about:

1. Kim Jong Il complete with pacifier, baby bottle, lil' blanky, and squirt gun or styrofoam nukes?

2. Elmo - but you might be attacked by kids

3. The missing weapons of mass destruction (I like abstract costume ideas)

4. Osama Bin Laden, or generic terrorist costume

Go for Osama with a plastic tube filled with red colored water going into a small piece of luggage....

Personally I would go as a priest with a doll velcroed to the..... yeah :D

Theres always the homicidal maniac costume... they look just like normal people

I should get one of my friends from the dojo to do a cinematic quality staged fight in the middle of the street. While wearing costumes, of course.

I have some good ideas for costumes, but they're still ideas. I'll try and get one worked out so I can post it.

Me, I'm going as Dr. House. Easy as hell costume, all I need is:
-Pair of jeans
-teeshirt
-overshirt
-blazer
-cane
-bottle of Vicodin...
And there you go! Just quit shaving for a week before, and you're set!

I am just gonna go as Vader, I got the mask a while back and I just ordered his FX lightsaber off of Ebay.

Good costumes are expensive.....! But if money wasn't an option, I'd go with this:

It even has a full set of armor underneath the robes. (all real metal)

dress in all white. wrap a piece of 1/2 copper tubing around yourself keeping it 3-6 inches away from your body. write IUD in small letters on the back.

I was planning to dress as Steve Zissou, but I don't think that I'll have time to get a proper costume ready.

I'm trying to put together a Carmen Sandiego outfit, but finding a trenchcoat that is either red to begin with or dyeable is hard.

If anyone has a long red coat like Carmen Sandiego in a size L-XL that I could borrow, I'll pay for shipping!

I'm going as Death/monk/dark jedi, they all pretty much look the same, depending what I carry (lightsaber, sythe, book).

The only one I have is purple :(

When I was in my early 20's I think I would have found Zombie Steve Irwin to be funny.

In my mid 30's it seems tasteless and crude.

Dress up like Al Gore and light up a big cigar. Or dress up like John Kerry and wear flip flops. Or dress up as Clinton and attach an inter....hmmm that one is tasteless to, nm.

I was trying to work out a way of taking about 30 of those fake flame things and mounting them on a suit. I think I could do it, but it costs way too much.

Nice catch.

I would do Kim Jong Il except for the following two reasons:

1. I'm not asian.
2. I don't have the jowles like he does.

Which bears the following two problems:

1. If I tape my eyes back a little to the sides to simulate the appearance of his eyes as an asian person, I'm afraid it would piss someone off like I'm making fun by taping my eyes back, and taping the corners of my eyes back even a tiny amount makes my vision start to blur, and that would cause a massive headache really quickly.
2. I don't think I could simulate the jowles well enough for it to be worth it.

A Loser!

I want to go as Wayne Cambell this year, I got some jeans I can rip, I just need a wig and a cheap black hat and shirt. Then I'll get real drunk and everyone will be like "party on!" and that pretty much gaurentees a good time.

It's my mom's, but it's too big for her and I have used it on several occasions to accomplish various feats of jackassery.

Irwin was a happy, energetic, fun guy and an entertainer- I think he'd find it hilarious.

And i'm not making fun of him. I'm not mocking him for dying the way he did. I'm not calling him names or saying anything mean about him. He died from a stingray barb to the heart, and that's that. How long does a person have to be dead before the imaginary "it's been long enough" barrier dissolves?

Also: everyone dead is someone's dead son or daughter.

I don't look on death as a morbid, depressing, terrible horrible thing. Partly because of my job, and partly because I just feel that death is death. There are a lot of people and many entire cultures that agree with me. Death is the opportunity to celebrate the life that is lost.

Also also: i'm not going trick-or-treating to his widow's house. I'm dressing up halfway around the globe and going to a party.

And that's IF i even do it. It was only an idea. There's no harm or disrespect intended to Irwin- and I still think he'd find it funny.

That's an excelent point. If I were killed in an odd way, I'd want people joking about it. Death is so final and depressing, why not make people happy?

I dressed up as Christopher Reeves a month after he died. Wheel chair, dress suit, superman shirt underneath unbuttoned dress shirt, tube to the throat and comb over and everything.

Some people were pissed, others loved it. I took second place in two costume contests. Yeah, it's tasteless, but I don't pride myself on having the fanciest wines.

I'm gonna tone it down this year, and dress up as a Care-Bear (good reason to get drunk, and molest people), or Snarf (good reason to get drunk, and molest people). Oh wait, any costume that changes my appearance is a good reason to get drunk and molest people.

Analog, you don't have to be Asian or have the jowles to "dress up" like Kim. There's no need to tape back your eyes or anything, that's a bit extreme. I guess it depends on what you are going for: realism or satire/spoof. Hence the baby bottle, pacifier and styrofoam nukes. I think if you did the makeup, hair, and outfit pretty good, then people would get the idea.

Think, if you go as Steve Irwin, you're not gonna really look like him. It's the idenifying elements: khaki outfit, screaming "crikey" all the time and the sting ray barb is the perfect touch. (I'm assuming you are not Australian but you can still dress up as him). In the same vein, I met a chick who dressed up as Austin Powers at a Halloween part a few years ago. She was Asian, but it was obvious that she was Austin Powers (the blue velvet suit with the ruffles and the glasses and bad hair. She even had a a fake set of teeth and a bottle of "mojo".

I say go for it, and have a friend go as George Bush and you guys can chase each other around throwing little tantrums along the lines of "he started it, he started it!". It will be hilarious.

I had a friend dress up as the "winter of our discontent". Talk about abstract!!! I personally liked it.

Someone at work today mentioned going as the angel of Cory Lidle, the baseball player who died in the plane crash recently... complete with baseball uniform and glove, and wings... but bend the wings up a bunch. If someone can't tell they were wings, and they ask you what they are, you get all defensive about not flying well.
