anger help

Ever sence i stoped smoking marijuana ive been an angry fuck. Needless to say drinknig just kind of "adds fuel to the fire."

ive been snapping on everyone for hardly any reason at all, and stress from fucking probation just kind of puts more weight on my back.

Generally im a laid back kind of guy. I've been in martial arts 80% of my life and i have still never even been in a "street fight." im usually very easy going and very nice, even to total strangers.

this anger thing is really getting to me, anyone have any suggestions.

p.s..with out marijuana, i need soemthing to keep me intoxicated or ill go fucking ape shit...ive tried sobriety, it doesnt work.

Pass one to SSJTWIZTA before he hits someone! Seriously, any reason to stop? If it aint' broke don't fix it?

Seaver 08-10-2006 07:22 PM

Work out... hard.

Honestly work out to the point of having no energy left... you won't have the energy to be angry. Plus it makes you attractive (makes you happy having girls wanting you)... and releases dopamine (same stuff that THC causes the release of).

...that's not necessarily a reason to give up on the idea. Sometimes our failures are messages, but not a reason to give up; if that were the case, then any human progress would be doomed. Maybe you need more than just sobriety, such as other activities, sports, exercising, counseling, etc., to help you occupy your time and your mind. Sobriety by itself might not work, but don't completely give up on the idea. Your anger and your stress compound/complicate your need to cope, and it seems like for a long time, that coping mechanism was/is smoking weed. We all have our ways to cope; some ways are healthy, some are not. I am not judging, but anger expressed outwardly can hurt others and anger expressed inwardly can lead to depression, and you I would think that you don't want to go down that path.

What Seaver said.

Get married and have a kid.

How long since you gave it up?

If it seems to be a permanent thing, you may want couseling to see if it's a chemical thing in your brain.

Ch'i 08-10-2006 09:04 PM

I agree with analog. If you are really that dependent on staying intoxicated then maybe you need to go to a detox center, or get some sort of counseling.

Good job with the martial arts by the way, maybe that can help.

Toaster126 08-10-2006 09:12 PM

From what I've seen, people don't lose anger problems until it gets them to reevaluate their thinking and how they act... and it doesn't seem like you are there yet.

Mantus 08-10-2006 11:28 PM

Work out
Do stuff you love
Get laid
Pursue your goals
Deal with problem you've been putting of

Crack 08-11-2006 05:51 AM

You can start an underground 'Fight Club'.. wait, that's been done. :D
But seriously, take up boxing, or something else that leads you to take out your aggression on someone other than your friends, maybe even on someone who can give a little back too!

genuinegirly 08-11-2006 08:28 AM

plant a garden. watch it grow.

no. i'm not telling you to plant your own pot.

The timescale that nature moves in is quite different from that which we try to place ourselves in. "Communing with nature" by hanging out with veggies, flowers, trees, and insects does wonders for putting life into a more relaxing, less frustrating, perspective.

Working out until you collapse... I like this idea. Find someone to spar wth.

SSJTWIZTA 08-11-2006 11:52 AM

i stoped smoking because of probation.

ive been off of marijuana sence march and the problem is really just now arising..

maybe detox could work, but its not like i use heroin or methamphetamines...

wow, saying that after chugging a bottle of robitussin seems kinda fucked.

as for the getting to nature thing, i pretty much live in bum fuck egypt, nothing around but trees and more trees. Dont plant pot? better start uprooting.

i think ill give the working out thing a try.

pornclerk 08-11-2006 12:14 PM

It may be safe to assume that the reason you started smoking pot in the first place is to cover up anger you had inside. Now that you've stopped it's all coming out again. You need to fix what is bothering you. I would suggest seeing a counseller.

Brewmaniac 08-15-2006 07:50 AM

My comment was completely out of line, I'm extremely sorry! As mentioned already work out if you enjoy it, replace your need to smoke with something you enjoy. If that doesn't work seek out advice as stated above.

Just because marijuana is seen as a lower class of drug than heroin or meth doesn't make it any less addictive or damaging to the lives of certain people.

Go see a drug and alcohol counselor. They can evaluate your level of addiction as well as offer advice on your anger issues, including referrals to other mental health professionals should you need them.

get a zoloft prescription, it will take your anger down a notch.

Ourcrazymodern? 03-27-2007 03:56 PM

Are you serious? Anger is a symptom and if drugs are necessary to control it you need the talk therapy too.

SSJTWIZTA 03-27-2007 10:47 PM

im 90% positive it was stress, im one chillaxed motherfucker now, probation free and worry free.

ive been in georgia now about a month and potless for a bit, and im dandy.

nope, times cant get any better than these. (unless i had some more pot, lmao)

out of all off these suggestions, seavers and crack's were the most helpful to me.

p.s.-seriously, im fine now.
