Most Unlucky Box Ever - Are you Superstitious?
I was scrounging through my kitchen trying to find something to attempt to cook for my fiance, and I stumbled across this box. I set it on the counter, and a friend of mine picked it up and took a look at it.
I didn't really know it at the time, but apparently he can be a bit superstitious. He checked on the calander on his phone, and January 13th was a Friday. So, we have Friday the 13th, 666, and 9:11 on one box. This developed into a discussion about omens and superstitions in general. I'd like to say I am not superstitious at all, but there have been occasions -few and far between - where I have had a bad feeling for one reason or another about something and not gone ahead with what I was planning. I never really attributed it to superstition before, but always that I had subconscously noticed something. How about you? Are you superstitious? Any interesting stories about superstitions? Please share

I'm not at all superstitious either, but I do enjoy superstitions. In my office that box would become a display item. Good find!
It would be interesting to know how many others of that same product were made the same day/minute or whatever to garner that expiration stamp. I'd write a few letters with pictures enclosed. Ought to provide customer service agents with a chuckle. The only things I can name of my own that would be close to supertitions generally have to do with my impatience. They feel more like being set up in a Truman Show situation than a superstition. Traffic is a common theme. One that regularly amuses me is getting into my car. My residential street is busier than some but not bad. Maybe 2 cars/minute. I park on the street so have to walk to the traffic side to get in. Why is it that every time I go to get in, another car is approaching around the bend such that I have to hustle or wait? Blame it on the man in the moon.

I'm not superstitious at all... except in jest.
Humans are remarkably good at attributing situational factors and effects on completely unrelated objects/people/etc. The only thing that worries me about that box is that it's expired... probably wouldn't eat it.

Has 911 become a superstitious number? I wonder why?
By the way, 666 is only one possible translation of the number of the beast. It's equally possible that it's 660 or 616, but those numbers are a lot less fun when inventing your own role playing game. Gilda |

Despite the fact that I consider myself to be rather unlucky, I attribute it to statistics. I just happen to be on the shitty side of the statistic.

Alrighty folks - I'll ebay it.
I bet that I get at least five bucks for it What do you think I should list it as? I could sell it for just what it is.. Or, I could sell it as a "Curse in a box" or something along those lines What do you guys think? This'll be a group effort. Feel free to put up any ideas you may have as to the description, title, etc... Quote:

Nah, the Chocolate Silk Torte of Doom. Doom is more vauge and ominous sounding. I used that with my studunts a lot "of ________" addends. "Of doom" and "of justice" were the most common ones.
Besides, the Torte of Doom would make a good evil villain weapon. Gilda |

Very True Gilda - Choclate Silk Torte of Death gives it only one purpose - Doom can be used for a variety of evil acts, including the end of all time

My mom's family is extremely superstitious and it would amuse me to no end to listen to her stories when I was growing up. Needless to say, I'm not superstitious, although I do get those "bad feelings" occasionally and I do usually listen to them.

I'm not obsessive superstitious, but I'll throw some salt over my shoulder if I spill it, or knock on wood for luck. Those kinds of things.
My niece was born on 9/11 one year after the attacks, so her birthday has alleviated some of the pain of that day for us.

Well, I probably can't post a link here, but it is up on ebay now.
Anyone want to take a guess as to how much it sells for? I'm gonna guess less than $8.00...

Seriously. Let's get this sucker linked everywhere. I'll submit it to Fark, but I don't have an account at digg.com The more people that submit it, the better the chances it gets linked somewhere Hell, if Fark doesn't accept it, I'll pay the fifty bucks or whatever to get it advertised

You have a bid! This is fantastic.
I laughed so hard reading the description that cold water went down the wrong pipe. I want a Dessert of Doom.

Uh-Oh, maybe it's even more dangerous than I thought.... Lol, I'm surprised that someone bid on it at all, much less so early. If you want the dessert of doom badly enough, you could bid on it - I'll offer a special TFP discount - 98 cents off. So, if you bid now, you get it for a penny **** Edit **** Wow, just about 400 views in less than a day, and it hasn't even made it on Fark yet. I bought some advertising space on fark for the Torte of Death - it should be in the classified section either today or tomorrow. However, if we could get it linked on the main page, that would be even better - so send it in folks You have my permission to link this wherever you like, as often as you like. On a side note - Halx, want me to put a link to the TFP on the bottom? Or would you prefer not to get that kind of publicity....
