Vote On The Styles!

Ok, I've uploaded a few pre-made styles and I wanna pick the top 3 or 4 to go ahead and customize to the TFP settings.

Help me decide!

Note: I don't want to make you guys think that these will be the ONLY styles available. I plan on making very basic adjustments to the base TFP style to appease various color scheme needs, but I wont be getting in-depth with the graphics unless someone wants to do that for me.

Also note: The following styles are capable of basic TFP browsing, but the use of some will probably limit the amount of stuff you can do on the TFP at this moment.

1. fromBasics Dark
2. 2Evolve Forest
3. Kirsch
4. I-Bulletin
5. I-Bulletin Purple
6. I-Bulletin Green
7. Eid Mubarak
8. bo20
9. Insignia
10. Candy

Please try to vote for only 3 or 4 max.

I definitely prefer darker backrounds. They show off the Avatars better and are easier on the eyes. I guess I'm also a bit of a sentimentalist and don't want to stray too far from the previous dark green/blue of old.

I voted for 'frombasics Dark' - I like its simplicity and clean lines. Cool title font too!

Thanks again for all of your hard work.

Insignia, it's the only one that looks proper at 1280x1024, at least at the moment. Plus it's damn cool.

I think dark and simple fits TFP best. If there is a pattern or design it is setting an image for the forum. I chose fromBasics Dark.

I'm using Firefox on Mac, resolution 1024x768...if that is needed and/or helpful.

I'm used to using Dark Cloud, so I like the white text on black/dark background. I like Insignia best because of that and because the margins are smaller. The text should feel free to spread out and stay a while.

I-Bulletin and Insignia are my favorites.

The others are either too bright or too tacky for my tastes. Simpler is better.

I-Bulletin (in green) isn't bad... But I have a hard time staring at stark white or black screens, so mellow is better. And the others... just too darned loud.

fromBasicsDark is good, but it's too small horizontally... it must be set at a fixed size instead of % of screen or something, which is common among almost all of those.

Yes - I think Shesus put it well. Dark and simple.

Speaking for myself, I tend to use TFP at night or evening. Somehow the dark colours fit. Also - for more explicit posts/topics, it would sit oddly with me I think - seeing them in bright colour.

But I do think it's good for there to be a couple of alternate options. Oh.... You've already covered that.

Still, I was thinking one dark, one light and one or two, er, "girly".

Does that sound stupid? No offence intended to you women, but (disclaimer bit coming) some women prefer some colours.. that some of us guys don't like. etc etc. You know the rest. Same goes I think with other design elements. Button shape and so on.

And fresnelly too, but I didn't notice that on first browse. My apologies.

As was pointed out also.. many of us like the old look. I can't remember if mine was customized or not though. (It was dark green mainly).

Perhaps as a starting point, it'd be nice if there was something with similar elements. To ease the transition for those with an attachment. After all, something about the old site must have resonated with many of the users. Thinking about it from a marketing point of view... best not to abandon your old customer base, even if you are expanding to new areas.

Moving on though. I don't mind insignia. So far.

It does use higher resolutions pretty well. I've got the screenspace, and I never like to see huge margins in my web content. This combo of colors seems to be pretty easy on the eyes too. Darks w/light text burns holes in me eyes. ME EYEES...but this great. Nice fonts too.

I'd have to say pull the trigger on Insignia. It's no 1 with a bullet IMO.

What am I missing with fromBasics dark? To me it looks like a bad myspace page. It needs to be wider, to have gridlines, the links to new posts (in bold) need to be more different to the links to old posts, and the posts' star-ratings should be more visible.

And all that black shows up the greasy fingerprints on my monitor!

I-Bulletin and bo20 for me.

I agree that dark is good, however I like Insignia far better than fromBasics Dark, much easier on the eyes. FromBasics Dark looks like every other generic forum out there typically frequented by teenagers: very unsophisticated in my opinion. *shrug* Insignia has the benefits of a darker forum for those who like that while also looking significantly more sophiticated/advanced.

I also really like both I-Bulletin (basic) and bo20, they have a nice sleak and smooth look to them.
