It's about damn time...
So, after a year and a half of wrangling, they finally...FINALLY...indicted Martha Stewart.
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...martha_stewart Personally, I think the bitch deserves it. The problem with white-collar crime is that the perp thinks they can get away with it. Well, not this time. She isn't as all-powerful as she thinks she is. I may like her shows and magazines, but as a person I think she's got a lot to work on.

Not that I don't think she deserves to be sent up the river for a good long time, but is it possible that poor Martha is going to pay a pretty hefty price to apease the indignance of the masses? I mean we have a lot of lying cheating scm out there tat is getting pushed under the carpet while high profile Martha Stewart plays the sacraficial lamb. Yeah, she done wrong and deserves to pay for it...but so did a lot of other people, not so high in the public eye. In short...don't stop there.

The amount of press coverage that this case is getting is ridiculous.
CNN is pathetic.

Hey, she made her own star. She started her own company. She went on the morning shows, put herself on the air in the afternoon, and helped us select housewares at KMart at nite. I really don't buy the "oohhh... why are they so interested in her. There are others." She cultivated the spotlight, grew up in it, and if it tears her down so be it. She's prominent- plain and simple.
The thing that cracked me up was watching the national news today. People interviewed on the streets, convinced she didn't do it. Hello? Have you looked at the facts? Are you just plain stupid? Is a jury of her peers? |

The thing you have to remember is that she is a former stockbroker. There's no question she knew she shouldn't sell at the time critical information was about to be released.
She is going to pay the price now for stupidity. Had she fessed up or shut up at the time it happened it would be long since forgotten. No....... she had to run her trap and make up ridiculous lies. What she wll be punished for is the stupidity and the lying afterwards, not the actual trade itself. |

What I really love about this story is that her lawyers are already playing the "sexism" angle. They claim that she is being singled out because she is a successful, high profile woman.
What I don't like about this story is something that I understand. Her story is getting all this attention because she is a successful, high-powered woman. The vice-presidents of Enron who are getting the book thrown at them are not recieving anywhere near the publicity. They just aren't a "newsworthy" as Martha "Stewed Heart".

Oh, Martha...
Its about time they indicted her. I guess because they realized how high-profile this is they would really have to do their homework. Is her lawyer Johnnie Cochran? Or is it Zephram Cochran? I always get the two confused. (Although I'm pretty sure OJ never made "First Contact" according to Star Trek lore!)
