That one's good, but the best recently was the Pac Man one.

Google changes its logo on the main page occasionally for special events, like the 50th anniversary of the Flintstones. If you look closely the image spells google as a part of the drawing.

Today's Google Doodle in honor of what would have been John Lennon's 70th birthday.

I'm not kidding you... this is by coincidence.

Yesterday's, I think: February 8

Happy Birthday, Jules Verne: Google Celebrates with Interactive Doodle - TIME NewsFeed

excerpt:
To celebrate author Jules Verne's 183rd birthday, Google has created an interactive Google doodle that takes users under the sea. Just pull the lever up and down and side to side to get "undersea" views from Verne's famed Nautilus submarine. Plus, users who have devices with built-in accelerometers can just tilt their Google displays to see a change in scenery.

March 8th: 100th Anniversary of International Women's Day

Today marks the 100th Anniversary of International Women’s Day.
Originally developed as a socialist event known as “International
Working Women’s Day”, today IWD honors and celebrates the
achievements of women and it is celebrated throughout the world.
In recognition of IWD, Google’s Doodle has been changed for the day.

The United Nation’s theme for this year’s IWD is:

Quote:
Equal access to education, training and science and technology: Pathway to decent work for women.

February 26: I'm so late to everything, it's embarassing.

On the 100th anniversary of his birth, [February 26, 2011] Google Japan
has a new Doodle dedicated to Japanese artist Taro Okamoto.

Replacing Google’s “l” is one of Okamoto’s most famous works, The Tower
of the Sun
, which was designed for the 1970 Osaka Expo and is located in
Expo Commemoration Park in Osaka, Japan.
