About the MMMP

Purpose of the MMMP
The Michigan Medical Marihuana Program (MMMP) is established to administer the registration program provided for in the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act (MMMA), which was approved by Michigan voters on November 4, 2008.

Mission Statement

To assure that the registration process is conducted efficiently and effectively, consistent with all statutes and administrative rules pertaining to the MMMP.

Administration of the MMMP

The MMMP will be administered by the Michigan Department of Community Health, Bureau of Health Professions.

Responsibilities of the MMMP

Review applications submitted by patients and caregivers wishing to participate in the MMMP and issue medical marihuana registration identification cards to those individuals whose applications are approved.
Maintain the confidentiality of program records in accordance with applicable state and federal confidentiality laws.
Provide information regarding the MMMA, MMMP policies and application processes.
Collect and disseminate statistics about participation in the MMMP including, but not limited to:
Number of applications filed and approved.
Nature of the debilitating medical conditions of qualified patients.
Number of registration identification cards revoked.
Number of physicians providing written certifications for qualifying patients.

Out of curiousity, what do you think the Michigan law has to do with a kid in Colorado?

The school did they right thing, they followed the law. You don't break laws just because you don't like them or they don't make any sense. That said, the law should be changed to accommodate students in situations like this.

The child missed most of the last school year when he was diagnosed with diaphragmatic and axial myoclonus, which causes seizures that can last for 24 hours or more. click to show He spent extensive periods of time hospitalized and used morphine and other narcotics to control the seizures until doctors discovered that THC works better than any other medication. He was able to return to school in January but as the district would not allow him to possess or consume his prescribed medicine on campus, he transferred to a school closer to home so that he could walk home as needed to take his medicine. After the district’s latest salvo was delivered, the teen’s father said he spoke with both the district superintendent and the district attorney and that neither were receptive to his arguments that his son needs the medicine to function, does not get high and does not smell like marijuana. The district has refused to comment to us, other than for a spokesperson to say that the district intends to follow the letter of the law, which is that no student may possess or consume medical marijuana on school grounds. That said, the law should be changed to accommodate students in situations like this. __________________ The advantage law is the best law in rugby, because it lets you ignore all the others for the good of the game.
