Flooding in Queensland in 16 Minutes
The attached four photos show how quickly the floods happened on a farm at Helidon on Monday 10.01.2011. There has never been water on this cultivation before. Lockyer Creek runs behind the cultivation. The times on the photos say it all.
The farm is upstream from Grantham which got the full force of this creek, and another creek (Flagstone Creek) which joins into it just before Grantham. This is why so many died and/or are missing further downstream. look at the times on each photo. http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c1...ensland-01.jpg http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c1...ensland-02.jpg http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c1...ensland-03.jpg http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c1...ensland-04.jpg |
Did a dam fail up stream? I know that a lot of rain fell, but still it seems pretty fast.
It hasn't been a good year for Aussie weather with the floods in Queensland and now the cyclone in the NT... |
