Landboard/snowmobile/motorized skateboard: can someone help me to remember?
I'm trying to remember something I found online about a year ago that was a sort of motorized skateboard still in development and not yet available to buy. I'm pretty sure it had either one or two motorized (petrol fuelled) caterpillar tracks underneath and it went really really fast over all sorts of rough terrain. I think the rider stood in a stance similar to a surfboard, and steering was done by shifting weight. Throttle and brake were via some sort of handheld device connected by wire.
I found a video of this machine in action on youtube after looking at snowmobile jumps and I've tried for hours this evening to find it again - it eludes me still and it's particularly agonising because I remember that the thing had some sort of name or banding that, if I knew it, would instantly bring up the video again. They had a proper website and it looked like there was big interest from retailers and resellers, if they could get costs down. The video was of a guy testing it along a muddy dirty track somewhere (maybe in Australia?) I think it's major selling point or the reason it's better than other similar products is its use of a continous track, like a tank track, instead of single wheels so it can just zoom over treacherous ground where wheels would get stuck. It was really, really fast and I think there were safety concerns but if they were overcome the product would probably see similar success to the Segway. Can anyone remember something similar to this? I'll be really grateful to anyone that can point me in the right way. |
