Donkey Kong Gets Badass

This custom action figure was created by eBay seller "fugayze" and is part of a set that includes Mario and Pauline.

author's comments:
"Donkey Kong is at it again! He infiltrated Mario's pad and nabbed Pauline while she and her plumber where sleeping. Needless to say Mario is pissed, he has had enough of Donkey's monkeying around. Mario grabbed his monkey wrench and is on his way to torque some fuzzy nuts!

This auction consists of Mario, Pauline, Donkey Kong, 4 barrels, and the steel beam platform. Mario stands 6 inches tall and has lots of articulation. Donkey Kong stands around 9 inches tall and also has plenty of articulation so you can pose him to your delight. The platform is 19 inches long and 13 inches high.

Mario and Pauline have had been extensively resculpted and all figures have been painted with multiple layers of the highest quality paints to bring out all the fabulous details. The steel beam base was scratch made from modeling wood, needless to say it took quite a bit of time.

My work has been winner of various on-line customizing awards and has most recently been featured in Nintendo Power Magazine volume 254! This is a one of a kind custom set from my personal collection and will not be remade.

In Honor of Pac-Man's Thirtieth Anniversary, Google Does the Icon Proud

Google sure knows how to throw an anniversary party. In honor of Pac-Man's thirtieth birthday, Google has replaced the front of its search engine with a cool new Google Doodle that turns the logo into a classic Pac-Man maze. It gets better. The Pac-Man maze is playable. All you need to do to play is go to Google's front page and either click on the insert coin button or wait a few seconds. Then, Pac's off and you are in control. In fact, two people can play co-op Pac-Man on the Google Doodle if you tap the insert coin twice.

The Pac-Man Google Doodle is actually more than just a little playable Pac-Man game.
Google went so far as to recreate the personalities of all four ghosts.
The Pac-Man Google Doodle even has the level 256 kill screen.

The Pac-Man Google Doodle will be live for the next two days.
Give it a go. To be perfectly honest, it is so awesome.
And be sure to post your high scores in the comments.
Let us know if you hit the kill screen.

Update:
Google has decided to permanently offer its version of Pac-Man at Google. Read on if you want to know how you can download a copy of your own for more Pac-Man fun.

If Friday’s Google Doodle didn’t feed your Pac-Man fever, you can now download the special Google version of Pac-Man and play on your own time. Over at StackOverflow, users worked together to figure out how to extract and host the special version of Pac-Man, created by Google in honor of the yellow guy’s 30th birthday, for play online or off.

VVVVVV
is the best game I’ve played in years. That says little and a lot at the
same time: I haven’t been playing computer games much since the early 2000’s,
and VVVVVV put this whole category of entertainment back on my radar. What
VVVVVV hooked me with was its simple but endlessly flexible gameplay, focused
graphics, and general charm.

Play VVVVVV.

Everywhere you look you see blocks. Everywhere you go you hear "Korobeiniki".
Every step you take, you know that the ground beneath you could cruelly disappear,
though at least you'd have some bonus points to show for it...

Your life is imitating Tetris. Thankfully, you're not alone—the Flickr group "Tetris Tetris Everywhere"
has over a hundred photographs of everyone's favorite block-based puzzle game invading the real world.
OK, the effect isn't quite as menacing as I might've described it at first.

anti-pac-man: you control the ghosts!

Here’s an interesting concept:
what if Pac-Man’s gameplay were the exact opposite of what you’ve come to expect after all these years. That is to say, what if, instead of Pac-Man being chased by ghosts, you controlled the ghosts and Pac-Man came after you. That’s exactly the idea of this new Flash game called “Anti Pac-Man”.

The concept is simple.
Think of it like a squad based version of Pac-Man. Use the keys numbered 1 through 4 to take command of each ghost, then use the arrow keys to guide them away from your yellow dot-gobbling nemesis. As Pac-Man eats up, your score keeps going down, but if you can keep your ghosts alive, you can minimize the damage.

Pac-Man creator Toru Iwatani was a speaker at the recent Festival of Games. To the
surprise of the conference's host, Iwatani was carrying the original Pac-Man sketches with him.

Here, Iwatani shows off the original, top-secret sketches which were used in the development of the culture-changing game.

author's comments:
This was one of two artworks of mine submitted to UDON's tribute art contest for Street Fighters 20th anniversary, showcasing some of the best international Street Fighter fan art/professional art.

There were over 1300 entries of which there were only 163 winners, including myself, but this was not the winning entry that got me in. My winning entry was of Cammy, and will only be able to unveil her once the art book has been launched at San Diego's Comicon on July 23.

This artwork took me a total of 5 days to complete including lineart and colours.

Hope you enjoy!

Returning after a successful debut last year, Brooklyn's Brick Theatre will soon
play host to another festival of plays and performance art based on video games.

The curtain goes up on July 9, with a range of shows including live machinima, a
tour of Second Life (with the Kool-Aid man), a Mortal Kombat fight controlled by
guitars and "Five Classic Video Games Adapted for the Stage".

There's also a ton of other stuff going on, like chiptunes parties and game installations.
If you're in or around New York City next month, and want to read more about what's
happening, you can hit up the Game Play festival's official site below.

CellCraft Is One Intelligently Designed Cellular Biology Game

synopsis:
There's fun to be had and lessons to be learned about cellular biology in CellCraft, as long as you can weather the argument over whether or not it's a creationist take on the subject.

CellCraft is a nifty little free Flash game that takes the complicated process of teaching cellular biology and turns it into a real-time strategy game. You start with a simple cell, moving it about a petri dish to collect the resources it needs to grow more complex structures in order to keep it healthy and defend it against invading viruses.

Play it HERE.
