My wife wins a cherry tree from the band CAKE in a "dance-off" at the June 4th concert at Caesar's Indiana. The tree was almost stolen in the parking lot out of my brother in law's pickup just before they drove away. They jumped in the back and tried to run away with it, but my wife and her two sisters stopped the girls just in time. We planted it yesterday.

We'll post a picture of the planted tree to the CAKE website soon.

Haha, that's awesome. What kind of cherry tree is it? Is it a fruit tree or a ornamental?

cake had a dance off??? i´d LOOOOVE to see those guys. only recently i found out the lead singer has spent some time institutionalised...

Well thats a novel idea. I wonder how many Cherry trees they go through per tour or if they vary it up with different kinds of trees.

I can't find the tag describing the tree, but it has about 12 actual cherries ripening now. I remember the description said they were tart, not sweet like bing cherries. I'll go try one in a few days.
