The Right Brain vs The Left Brain Test

The Right Brain vs The Left Brain Test

The woman shown is a silhouette, not sure if it is completely SFW.

Initially, I saw her spinning counter clockwise, and the description uncannily accurate. It took me awhile to get her to spin the other way, but I did finally do it. Not sure what that means at all, except it made me dizzy. :paranoid:

Willravel 10-09-2007 08:42 AM

Lol... damn. As soon as I saw it, I knew it was both.

Also, "anti-clockwise"? I always understood it to be counter clockwise. And why is she naked?

Redlemon 10-09-2007 09:28 AM

I can't get her to spin counter-clockwise. And I often play that trick with radio broadcast towers while riding in a car; I get it to spin the other way, so that it looks like it is careening out of control. And as a kid I would 'flip' the airplane models that were suspended from my ceiling.

But this model: no. Only clockwise. I'm so right-brained that I'm falling over, apparently? Also no. I'm much more left-brained.

bobby 10-09-2007 04:08 PM

clockwise.....only....who can see it go the other way???

Me. Still not sure why she's naked.

Meditrina 10-09-2007 04:21 PM

no clue why she is naked. To make it more interesting? Make you stare at it longer?

I cannot look at it anymore, it is making me dizzy. It was primarily counter clockwise for me.

StellaLuna 10-09-2007 04:45 PM

I can flip it around at will... weird. I think the reason chickie is naked is because your brain interprets those visual cues more clearly than a skirt billowing away from her legs. You "know" where to see those curves and it's easier to trick your brain into seeing things a certain way.

LoganSnake 10-09-2007 06:21 PM

I can only see her spinning clockwise. Can't get her to go the other way no matter how hard I try.

Baraka_Guru 10-09-2007 07:13 PM

This has got to be a joke. I can't for the life of me get it to look counter-clockwise.

...it's a joke, right? :uhh:

Shauk 10-09-2007 07:14 PM

I can only see her counter clockwise.

actually no wait, just figured out how to see her turn the other way, had to focus on the foot that's sitting mostly still. There was something funny about it that triggered me to switch directions.

Baraka_Guru 10-09-2007 07:27 PM

Crap. I can't do it! Even on my second try. I'll lose my mind if I keep staring at it. I must be a hopeless right-brainer.....

albania 10-09-2007 07:46 PM

It appears clockwise for me whenever I first stare at it. Looking at the shadow and then looking back makes it counterclockwise. I don't think this test says much. It implies I'm inclined to be right brained so I shouldn't be too inclined towards science or math. Well, lets just say that don't fit me.

Plan9 10-09-2007 07:54 PM

Boobies go right.

Reese 10-10-2007 01:52 AM

It just keeps switching on me. It was going clockwise when I first saw it then as I was reading the text I noticed it change directions.. It's really hard to tell which one way it is going the most..

abaya 10-10-2007 02:19 AM

Clockwise, but I can make her spin counter-clockwise if I try. Seems "backwards" to me, though, so I guess I'm right-brained. No surprise there. :)

bobby 10-10-2007 06:12 AM

got it to go the other(anti-clockwise)way....trick was to look at the stationary foot...as Shauk said....now I can switch back and forth at will...but it still starts out as "pro-clockwise"

xoxoxoo:thumbsup:

Redlemon 10-10-2007 06:29 AM

Thanks for the stationary foot trick.

But something bothers me in both directions - her ponytail defies the effects of momentum no matter what way she is turning!

Also, can anyone get her to do the windshield-wiper trick by switching direction every half-turn? I'm trying, can't quite get it yet.

MexicanOnABike 10-10-2007 07:44 AM

ya. if you look at the legs, when it goes to the back, it doesn't shrink in perspective. that's the answer right there.

Arc101 10-10-2007 11:48 AM

When I looked at it first it kept changing, then went anti-clockwise. Closed my eyes looked away and then it went clockwise. Quite interesting.

hotzot 10-11-2007 08:39 AM

Yup right brainer here too.

jack H 10-11-2007 09:53 AM

At first anti clockwise, then I tried to unfocus my eyes with no result, so I tried thinking about math problems alternating with images in my mind of past vacations or places I used to live it worked she kept changing direction. Amazing Thanks I will show my wife when she gets home.

ngdawg 10-11-2007 07:48 PM

I tried everything everyone suggested, but she's clockwise no matter what. Even her shadow is.

biznatch 10-11-2007 09:27 PM

The only thing that would work for me is not looking directly at her. and letting my eyes go out of focus, focusing them instead on an imaginary dot closer to my face than the screen. Kind of like intentionally crossing my eyes.
But everytime I look straight at the chick, she goes back to clockwise.
Try it, ng.

MSD 10-11-2007 10:50 PM

This is funny, the image was made by someone on Something Awful and I'm pretty sure they didn't ask him about using it. The trick to switching it (although I'm right on the line between left and right brain according to real tests, so maybe that 's why it's easy for me) is to look at the shadow and blink a few times.

MiSo 10-12-2007 12:44 AM

when the window first opened, she was spinning counter clockwise.
i started reading the text and it went clockwise.

i can get it to go counter clockwise then staring at the feet like said above.
pretty nifty.

I tried. She was still clockwise. I even tried reading the lists and saying to myself she's counterclockwise so she'd be secondary, but that didn't work. Weirdly, though, when it first opened, she made one counterclockwise turn, then switched.
I should add that I am a lefty, which, it's been said, means that the right side of the brain is extremely dominant, but whether that's why she won't switch, I don't know.

Grasshopper Green 10-13-2007 05:26 PM

Clockwise only. I've tried and tried but can't get her to spin the other way.

Derwood 10-15-2007 05:34 AM

yep, watch the stationary foot. your mind will look at the toes and say "front, back, front, back" as it spins. But if you make yourself go "front, back, BACK, front" it will start spinning the other way

newtx 10-15-2007 08:49 PM

Counter-clockwise, but I didn't try to make her reverse directions. The odd thing is that some saw her spinning clockwise from the start. I guess it depends on your focus. I didn't notice her feet. I must have been distracted.......................................

loquitur 10-18-2007 02:19 PM

She went clockwise for me, but with some effort I could get her to go counterclockwise.

More significantly, though: did anyone else notice she has nipples?

roachboy 10-18-2007 02:32 PM

both directions.
it changed each time i looked away and then back.
staring continuously didnt do anything.
i dont know what exactly that says about me.
i am scrambled brain-wise.

Charlatan 10-18-2007 04:12 PM

That's very freaky.

It was totally clockwise then, counter...

shoegirl 10-18-2007 05:06 PM

I have no problem switching back and forth, but I can't remember which one I saw first!

Bear Cub 10-18-2007 08:28 PM

Gaia, I hate you. My mind hasn't been fucked with to this degree in QUITE some time.

To begin, I couldn't see anything but clockwise. Now, it's difficult to see anything but counterclockwise, and when I can reverse it, it switches back.

Daniel_ 10-20-2007 01:53 AM

Sort of both at once. Odd.

BladedExpert 10-20-2007 04:57 AM

At first it was clockwise and i couldnt get it to go the other way. I closed my eyes and imagined something spinning counter-clockwise and then looked at it again, now it goes that way instead! But while staring at it i cannot get it to change. Very odd......

Torqu3 11-29-2007 08:32 AM

look away to the corner of the comp screen and stare till your sight gets a lil blurry then you will see her spinning the other way.

siogo 12-02-2007 02:05 PM

I see it both ways.

Hain 12-02-2007 02:49 PM

Totally clockwise... I can't even see her going counter clock, even though I know she ought to be able to. Which is strange since I am right handed... Hey Will, does explain why my handwriting sucks? I am using the wrong hemisphere to control my writing?

Nope can't make her go the other way. I keep seeing this in my head as I am slightly above her, and that is why her outstretched hand "lifts" when it goes "behind" her. I try to imagine being below her... But I guess I am not that submissive or haven't been to enough strip clubs.

CoolestPerson 12-04-2007 03:43 AM

This is the craziest fucking thing I have ever seen. I have two possible sultions. 1. She turns on her own on a random sting switching from clockwise to counter clockwise. 2. It depends on your angle of the screen. I had my girlfriend watch it at the same time I did and everytime she said it went clockwise I saw counter clockwise and wise versa. And theory?
