thanks. long ago and far away i did my undergrad thesis on the bauhaus and was really taken with oskar schlemmer's work--but i had never seen any footage of the choreography itself until yesterday--which started yet another dive dive dive into the youtube wilderness... youtube scares me more and more every day. |
they had color film in 1927?

i am not sure about the ballet film itself, whether it was shot in color or not, but yes there was color film--on nitrate, which was fragile and short-lived. there's a couple of most lovely films by peter delpeut (lyrical nitrate and forbidden quest) that use clips from nitrate films as collage elements. really lovely stuff.
