Very un-postmodernist of you, Roachboy, but you're right that your guy is better at beat-boxing.

The peculiar evil of silencing the expression of an opinion is, that it is robbing the human race; posterity as well as the existing generation; those who dissent from the opinion, still more than those who hold it. If the opinion is right, they are deprived of the opportunity of exchanging error for truth: if wrong, they lose, what is almost as great a benefit, the clearer perception and livelier impression of truth, produced by its collision with error. ~John Stuart Mill, On Liberty |

kenny muhammad is, in the parlance of our times, the shit.
i saw him in philly in a human beat box show--he wiped the floor with everyone including scratch and razel from the roots (neither of whom are exactly slouches). a year or so later, i read that he was touring with the x-ecutioners, so i went but alas, he was un-there. throat infection they said. the x-ecutioners were amazing, however. if you get a chance to see this guy live, just go. it doesn't matter what your plans were. they are obviated. you are going to see kenny muhammad. he is a walking talking demonstration of the claim that everything that is of any interest in hip hop continues in the underground: the one-dimensional nonsense that is mainstream hip hop is.....well.......blech. the beats were always only part of hip-hop, not all there was or is.
