New BBcode [youtube] [googlevideo] [metacafe] [revver]
Here's how you use the YouTube tag...
[ youtube ]9KXviPd0fRA[/youtube] (no spaces) If the URL is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KXviPd0fRA Take only the code (hash) after the "v=" Produces: <hr> Here's how to use the Google Video tag... [ googlevideo ]-5479410612081345878[/googlevideo] (again, no spaces) If the URL is: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5479410612081345878 Take the "docid" portion of the URL only. Produces: <hr> Here's how to use the MetaCafe tag (this one is tricky) [ metacafe ]422697/bugatti_veyron_on_top_gear[/metacafe] (you know the drill with the spaces) If the URL is: http://www.metacafe.com/watch/422697/bugatti_veyron_on_top_gear/ Take both the numbered part of the URL and the title. Do not take the leading or trailing "/" - only the middle one. (422697/bugatti_veyron_on_top_gear) Produces: <hr> Here's how to use the Revver tag: [ revver ]150995[/revver] (what did I tell you about the spaces?) If the URL is: http://one.revver.com/watch/150995 Take the number portion of the URL Produces: |
can we get a vimeo tag? seems like it's the new "stage6"
altho, stage6 was better :( |
i'm away for the moment, but I'll see what I can do when I get back.

I'm interested in starting a thread with an embedded video from www.ted.com. Is there any way to embed such a video, or will I have to rely on a link?
Thanks. |

I can make a tag for this... tho this is supposed to be an HD video, it won't allow for embeds to be HD, you have to view on vimeo.com |
oh i posted in the wrong thread....
but yeah I thought we had the vimeo tag working for the non hd stuff :\ doesn't seem to work now. -----Added 22/7/2008 at 11 : 01 : 06----- Edit: well nevermind, it appears to auto embed if you just post the url in the the post. |
don't use the embed codes....
just the URL will do hmmm.. need to figure out what happened. |
Hrm, doesn't appear to autoembed when posting vimeo urls now, >.>
Think i'm missing something |
depends on the vimeo URL. They recently updated it to include groups, which if you embed a group, it won't embed.

Is there no way to create a [vimeo] tag from the "userid=xxxxxx", or is it more complex than what the youtube and googlevideo tags have?
I have no idea what goes into the simplification formula for tagging, though, so it is just a supposition on my part for new tags. |
part of it is that the vimeo user can disable embeds, but I did just test out some embeds that didn't work here with HTML embeds and they worked fine without issue.
It actually isn't any more complex when you look at the URL and compare it to the embed code. There's just a variable or two that is needed to be accounted for and the automatic embedder handles the rest. |
