Those pics are the ones from the crash that Gizmondo's CEO had last year. He said he wasn't driving, but a guy named Gunther. The guy is a piece of work...

This made big news in LA and in Chicago (for some reason). The short version is that the guy driving lied to the cops several times. The first time was about "Gunther" being the driver and running off. Gunther probably doesn't exist. The second time was when he told them that he was with Homeland Security, when in fact he'd just done some consulting work for an LA suburb (City of Industry, I belive). If I remember correctly, he an internet millionaire that sold some sort of shady company that later bankrupted. The third time was when he said that he owned the car. It actually belonged to a bank and he'd imported it illegally into the country. They ended up seizing 3 or 4 other cars from him.
As for the accident, he was drag racing after being out drinking at some party. He went airborne over those hills in the last few pictures and hit the telephone pole at over 100 mph. If I remember correctly this is on the PCH outside of LA near where Mel Gibson got pulled over about a month later. I can dig up links to the story if anyone wants. I think Fark may have even had a thread on it at some point, although I'm not sure about it. The truth is even stranger than what you posted Brewster.

Better yet...not even the same car. Not sure if it's supposed to be, but the unwrecked car and the wrecked car aren't the same car.

As promised, here are the details of the accident, which occurred on the Pacific Coast Highway. I had a couple of the details wrong (name of the nonexistant driver, the actual driver's claims), but I think I got the overall story close enough.
http://www.answers.com/topic/stefan-eriksson It's an interesting read, and the guy's pretty clearly a dirt-bag.
